With less than 24 hours until AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, AEW
Collision came back to Rio Rancho Events Center in Rio
Rancho, New Mexico, on TNT and HBO Max! It was a very busy
night of action, especially for the participants in the 12-
Man Steel Cage Match tomorrow night in San Jose. Plus, three
championships were on the line, and we saw a preview of the
Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament Finals in our main
event.
“The CEO” Mercedes Moné and ROH Women’s World Champion
Athena beat Maya World and Hyan, which gives Moné the
momentum and advantage heading into her second Finals in as
many years, with the opportunity to be the first wrestler to
repeat as Owen Cup champion. However, World struck the final
blows and left Moné down as Collision came to a close!
The Conglomeration turned away The Opps to retain the AEW
World Trios Titles, which was a good test for Orange
Cassidy, Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong before they step
inside the steel cage at Forbidden Door. TNT Champion “The
Jet” Kevin Knight, conversely, will be one of five teammates
for MJF, and he’ll walk into Sunday with the TNT Title still
firmly in his possession. The Don Callis Family also saw
Jake Doyle with a dominant victory over Adam Priest in
Doyle’s last chance to make an impact before Doyle’s AEW PPV
debut. Plus, Jericho handled JD Drake for a serious victory
ahead of his Dynamite Beach Break showdown with Tommaso
Ciampa in less than two weeks on July 8.
AEW World Trios Championship Match: The Conglomeration
(Orange Cassidy, Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong) (c) def.
The Opps (HOOK, Katsuyori Shibata and Anthony Bowens)
We began our night on Collision back in Rio Rancho with the
first of three championship matches, as The Conglomeration
defended the AEW World Trios Championship against The Opps.
Of course, Orange Cassidy, Roderick Strong, and Kyle
O'Reilly are also part of Team Briscoe tomorrow at Forbidden
Door. Shibata and Strong started this one off, and they were
clearly being careful with each other. After a stalemate,
O'Reilly tagged in and HOOK tagged in for The Opps. HOOK
feigned a test of strength and booted O'Reilly in the gut.
HOOK changed the pace and was able to trip up O'Reilly, but
O'Reilly came back with a series of stiff kicks and brought
Strong back into the matchup. HOOK found himself in the
wrong corner and was double-teamed by Strong and O'Reilly,
with Strong holding HOOK over his knee as Orange Cassidy
went from the top rope to the second rope and then down to
the mat to drop a very safe elbow. Cassidy made a couple of
pin attempts but got a one-count each time, which he
explained to the referee added up to two—a math lesson from
Orange Cassidy!
That gave HOOK time to recover and hit a throw that put
Cassidy on the mat. HOOK tagged Anthony Bowens, who bounced
right on Cassidy with a back suplex of his own. Bowens tried
to get some applause from the crowd, but they did not seem
very interested. OC took the crowd over when he put his
hands in his pockets. However, Bowens took the hands out of
Cassidy's pockets and made them clap for him. Cassidy didn't
keep them there, threw his hands back in his pockets, and
took Bowens down with a dropkick. Rio Rancho gave that a
standing ovation!
Shibata tagged in, but Cassidy kept his hands in his
pockets. Shibata walked up to him and said, bring it on.
Cassidy unloaded in his own special way with chops on
Shibata and then rolled him up for a two count. Cassidy went
to the ropes but took a knee to the back from HOOK, and
Shibata took advantage by dropping Cassidy to the mat. HOOK
tagged into the match. But first, Shibata took Cassidy to
the apron and suplexed him on the corner of the ring before
rolling over and suplexing him again on the floor. Shibata
rolled Cassidy in, and HOOK covered for a two count. He
wasn't happy with that, but The Opps were clearly in control
of the champs.
Shibata came back in and tried to slow Cassidy down with a
choke in the middle of the ring, but Strong saw this and
kicked Shibata in the back to break it up. Shibata snapped
Cassidy over, but instead of hitting him with a PK, he
knocked Strong off the apron with a big boot. Shibata lifted
Cassidy for a suplex, but Cassidy reversed it into a Stundog
Millionaire and made the tag to O'Reilly. Bowens made a tag
for his team, and O'Reilly unloaded on him with kicks and
strikes at lightning speed. He took Bowens down to the mat
with a leg sweep as Bowens fell to the corner. O'Reilly
rushed in with a forearm to the neck and took Bowens' left
arm to torque it a few times over his own shoulder. But
Bowens shook it off and lit up O'Reilly with a few kicks.
However, when he went for a leapfrog, he came down awkwardly
on his knee, and O'Reilly sniffed it out immediately by
locking him in an ankle lock. HOOK stopped that ankle lock
by trying to lock a REDRUM on O'Reilly at the same time.
O'Reilly took HOOK down with a back suplex. But Bowens
knocked O'Reilly to the ropes. He rebounded right back, so
Bowens hit him again. O'Reilly rebounded again and hit a
double clothesline on HOOK and Bowens. He made the tag to
Strong, and Shibata made a tag on the other side. These two
hard hitters met right in the middle of the ring with a
vicious chop fest that seemed only to strengthen them the
more they went on. Shibata got a bit of an advantage with a
few chops in a row and followed up with an uppercut that
dropped Strong to the second rope, but when Shibata tried to
run to the ropes, Cassidy tripped him up. Strong hit a
uranage backbreaker on Shibata and then another on HOOK.
Strong tagged Cassidy and picked him up to throw as a
weapon. He threw him into Shibata in one corner and then
HOOK in the other. Strong ran back after Shibata, but
Shibata came out of the corner with his own version of the
Orange Punch!
Shibata held Strong for Bowens, who tagged into the match,
but Strong booted his way out of it by hitting Bowens in the
face and then dropping Shibata with a version of a DDT.
O'Reilly got in the match and started slugging it out with
Shibata in a battle of forearms. Neither man wanted to go
down, and somehow both stayed on their feet! Shibata tried
to hit the ropes, but O'Reilly met him with a high knee.
HOOK came in, and O'Reilly lit him up with a combination of
kicks. But when he went for the leg trip, HOOK was ready for
it and launched him over his head with an exploder suplex.
Cassidy came back in the ring and tornadoed around HOOK for
a DDT. Bowens snuck back in, but Cassidy dropped down for a
backslide. Bowens kicked out at two. He pulled Cassidy up on
his shoulders and dropped him across his knee with a
Ushigoroshi and followed with a running knee to the downed
Cassidy. Strong came back in, but immediately, Bowens
knocked him out of the ring with a big kick. Bowens put his
attention on O'Reilly and took him down to the mat with a
leaping leg lariat to the back of the neck.
After trapping Cassidy in the corner, Bowens came through
the second rope with a straightjacket DDT, but Cassidy
kicked out at two. Rio Rancho erupted in a "THIS IS
AWESOME!" chant. And for the opening match of the night with
the AEW World Trios Titles on the line, it certainly was!
Shibata held Cassidy for Bowens, but Cassidy ducked, and
Bowens knocked Shibata out of the ring with a thrust kick to
the chin. HOOK and Bowens argued, but Cassidy ran Bowens
into HOOK, knocking him off the apron. Bowens turned things
around and rolled up Cassidy, only for Strong to break it up
with a kick to the back of Bowens' neck. Strong followed
with a strike to Bowens, and Cassidy came off the ropes with
an Orange Punch to Bowens while Strong knocked HOOK off the
apron. Strong finished Bowens off with a fireman's carry
slam and threw Cassidy on top of Bowens for the three count.
The Conglomeration successfully defended their AEW World
Trios Titles and can now focus on the Steel Cage Match at
Forbidden Door!
The Demand Have a Chance Meeting with The Lethal Twist
Ricochet was in the back with Toa Liona and Bishop Kaun as
they spoke about their quest for gold. Toa Liona said he's
tired of waiting. But as they went to continue speaking, The
Lethal Twist made their way down the stairs behind them.
Ricochet and Jay Lethal complimented each other's haircuts,
and then Ricochet decided they should go talk. So all six
men left together.
Will Ospreay Gets Marching Orders from Jon Moxley
As Jon Moxley spoke over a laid out Daniel Garcia with the
rest of the Death Riders surrounding him, he addressed
Swerve Strickland by letting the most dangerous man in AEW
know he is now being targeted. Moxley said the way they're
going to handle this is that Will Ospreay is going to pull
the trigger and hit him where it will hurt the most. Ospreay
responded, "Message received," and began to speak about the
ten years of friendship that he's had with Swerve
Strickland. But for what? Ospreay admitted that for all the
neck bridges he's done, if he gets hit with another vertebra
break, he's headed for another surgery.
"The most dangerous man in AEW. You're about to see how
dangerous I can be. This isn't Swerve's House. You're a
squatter. And you are occupying space on my road to
Wembley." Garcia reached his hand up from the ground and
said, "Hey, yo, Billy. Bring it home, my boy." And it's
become apparent yet again that the bond Ospreay has formed
with the Death Riders seems to be going deeper than just
training.
TNT Championship Match: “The Jet” Kevin Knight (c) of the
Don Callis Family def. The Rascalz’ Dezmond Xavier
The crowd chanted "you sold out" at Knight as the match got
underway, although he didn't seem to mind. Knight tried to
keep Xavier grounded from the jump, working him down to the
mat with a headlock until he broke free. Xavier tied up
Knight and nearly pinned him for a quick victory, and Knight
wasn't happy about it. Knight ran Xavier into the ropes and
tried a schoolboy cradle — maybe Xavier had gotten in
Knight's head off the jump. Then, Knight rolled up Xavier,
but put both of his legs on the second rope to try to steal
a pin. That was sniffed out by referee Rick Knox, who
scolded Knight for the cheating.
Knight charged Xavier in the corner but missed on a shoulder
thrust. Xavier was able to go over the top and springboard
back in with a hurricanrana that sent Knight sprawling to
the outside on the opposite side of the ring. Xavier
considered a dive, but Knight moved and Xavier put on the
brakes. Knight tried to keep the distance between the two on
the outside, but Xavier called him back into the ring.
Whether it be mind games or frustration, Knight had very
little interest in returning to the ring, and Xavier got
impatient — which allowed Knight to pull him out of the ring
and run him back-first into the corner of the apron multiple
times. A mistake by Xavier and some cunning by Knight put
him back in the advantage. Knight threw Xavier into the
steel steps, but Xavier jumped and flipped over them to land
on his feet, only for Knight to follow up behind, jump off
the steps, and clobber Xavier with a clothesline!
Knight continued to punish Xavier around the ringside area
before bringing him back into the ring to continue picking
apart his challenger. Knight went for The Crash Landing, but
Xavier rolled out of it. He blocked a couple of shots from
Knight and fired back with shots of his own. A quick combo
into a cutter put Knight down and gave Xavier the opening to
get back in the match. Both men pulled themselves up to
opposite corners, but Xavier charged Knight with an uppercut
and a thrust kick, followed by an enzigiri. Xavier jumped
off the second rope and planted Knight with a DDT in the
middle of the ring. 1-2-Knight kicked out! We nearly had a
new TNT Champion right there!
The match had clearly shifted with Knight now on the mat
gasping for air and Xavier planning his next move. Xavier
missed a Meteora, but when Knight charged after him, he ran
into a back elbow. Xavier sprung himself up to the second
rope, but Knight jumped up with a hurricanrana to take him
down. Knight picked up Xavier and spun him off with a tilt-
a-whirl backbreaker. Knight made his way to the top rope,
but Xavier rolled all the way into the corner, so Knight
dropped back down to the apron. Xavier reached for Knight,
but Knight draped him over the top rope. Knight tried a
springboard clothesline, so Xavier moved and rolled him
through for a two count. Xavier missed a kick but connected
on the second. But when Xavier tried to bounce off the
ropes, Knight waited for him with a dropkick to the face!
Knight picked Xavier back up, but Xavier floated over the
back and spiked Knight into the mat with a hurricanrana!
With both men down, the referee started a ten count. At
seven, both got back to their knees and started slugging it
out. They got back to their feet with Knight hitting a few
uninterrupted shots, but Xavier kicked Knight under the
armpit and used a slingblade bulldog to slam Knight into the
mat. Xavier hit a Meteora and covered Knight, but only got a
two count. Knight rolled to the outside, so Xavier dove out
after him! Xavier knew he had to get Knight back in the ring
if he wanted to win the title, so he picked him up in a
fireman's carry and deposited him back in the ring.
Xavier scaled the ropes, and from the top turnbuckle he
tried for a Spiral Tap, but Knight got his knees up. Knight
stumbled back to his feet and dropkicked Xavier in the back
of the head. Knight folded Xavier into The Crash Landing and
pinned him to retain the TNT Championship.
The Creation of a Steel Cage
We took an interesting, ominous look at the process of
building the steel cage for the main event of Forbidden
Door. Crafting a cage of chaos may take time, but it won't
take long for any of those men to turn that cage into their
own personal playground.
Triangle of Madness Address Their STARDOM Enemies
AEW Women’s World Champion Thekla, Skye Blue and Julia Hart
came out to the top of the ramp, as opposed to Thekla’s
customary appearance in the crowd. Thekla said all the
companies are playing “nicey nice” with each other, and it
makes her sick. She’s the one making Forbidden Door actually
forbidden. If she wants to fly to Japan, she does it. If she
wants to attack the president of STARDOM, she does it.
“And if I’m going to destroy the Forbidden Door, I’m gonna
light that bitch on fire!”
Hart said this war won’t be fought alone because everyone in
Triangle of Madness operates on their own time. Blue
addressed her opponent at The Buy In, Maika, whom she called
another hopeless, pathetic girl from STARDOM. Blue and Maika
will meet in a TBS Championship Survival of the Fittest
match with the winner claiming the sixth and final spot in
the Survival of the Fittest this upcoming Wednesday on
Dynamite. Thekla addressed them all, including STARDOM,
NJPW, CMLL and even AEW.
“You all built the Forbidden Door, and now you’re gonna
watch it burn!”
Jericho def. The WorkHorsemen's JD Drake
Before the match began, we took a look back on the events
that brought us to Jericho vs. Tommaso Ciampa at Dynamite
Beach Break on July 8, including last week on Collision when
Ciampa left Jericho bloody and beaten. With Ciampa wanting
the serious version of Jericho, it should be noted that
Jericho came to the ring without any of his typically flashy
entrance attire.
Drake shoved Jericho at the bell, so Jericho lit into him
with chops until Drake fought back with some shots of his
own. Jericho avoided Drake in the corner but walked right
into a back elbow. Drake put himself on the top turnbuckle,
but Jericho quickly went up to meet him with 10 punches and
an avalanche hurricanrana! Jericho came back with a jumping
enzuigiri to send Drake to the floor. He climbed to the top
rope and flew to the ground to take out Drake on the floor!
Jericho stayed on Drake by throwing him into the steel steps
before sending Drake back into the ring.
Jericho continued to pound away on Drake until he came off
the ropes, and Drake caught Jericho with a swinging side
slam that got him a two-count. Drake hauled off on Jericho
with chops in the corner and continued with a big splash.
That knocked Jericho to the mat, so Drake took advantage
with a cannonball. With Jericho down, Drake went to the top
rope and missed a huge moonsault! Jericho got back to his
feet first, but Drake soon followed, and a chop battle
ensued. Jericho escaped Drake’s grasp and rolled him up for
a two-count. Jericho dropped Drake with a Codebreaker. When
Drake started to stumble up, Jericho hit him with his
version of Ciampa’s bicycle knee! Jericho locked Drake in
the Walls of Jericho to get the submission victory.
After the match, Jericho called Tony Schiavone into the ring
and put Drake back in the Walls of Jericho. He demanded that
Schiavone say Jericho is better than Ciampa, which Schiavone
gladly did, so Jericho let go of the submission. Jericho
took the mic from Schiavone and told Ciampa he had Schiavone
deliver that message because Jericho had been looking
everywhere for Ciampa. Ciampa wasn’t there, but Jericho
wanted to say thank you for leaving him beaten and bloodied
because he needed it. He said Ciampa won’t want to thank him
for what happens at Beach Break!
Divine Dominion Face Off With Thunder Rosa
Lexy Nair was backstage with “Colossal” Lena Kross and
“Megasus” Megan Bayne, the AEW Women's World Tag Team
Champions, and one of their challengers at tomorrow's
Forbidden Door Buy-In, Thunder Rosa. Olympia, who will team
with Rosa tomorrow, was not able to make it for this face-
off. As Nair reminded everyone, there was no physical
contact allowed. Rosa asked Divine Dominion if they were
surprised she showed up by herself. She's not afraid of
them. Kross wondered if that face paint was seeping into
Rosa's skull, and they don't care if she's afraid of them.
Rosa asked if they knew about the heart of Mexican fighting
spirit, the heart of the odds, the heart of the fight. Kross
responded by saying nothing says fighting spirit more than
two women hiding their faces. Rosa questioned why Cross
would bring up her heritage and then threw a couple of
insults at her about the "double Ds" and their stupid hats.
Rosa ripped her shirt off and was ready to take on both
members of Divine Dominion by herself, although, they
decided to walk away respecting the no contact rule.
CMLL World Women's Championship: Persephone (c) def. Billie
Starkz
If Persephone can successfully defend her championship in
this matchup, she will walk into the Survival of the Fittest
TBS Championship match this Wednesday at Dynamite with the
chance to walk out with two championships. Before the match
began — as it is tradition in CMLL — Tony Khan and referee
Aubrey Edwards were there to present the CMLL World Women's
Championship.
Persephone worked Starkz into the corner and let her go as
if to say, I'm in control. Starkz took Persephone down a
couple of times and started doing jumping jacks. That
angered Persephone, who took Starkz back down and dropkicked
her in the face. She did a few jumping jacks of her own to
mock Starkz. Starkz popped back up, but Persephone caught
her and threw her backwards with a fallaway slam. That did
some damage to Starkz, but on the apron, she was able to hit
a jawbreaker and stunned Persephone before spiking the
champion with a DDT on the corner of the apron. Starkz was
fired up. She ripped the top off the commentary desk and had
bad intentions. With Persephone down on the floor, Starkz
jumped off the commentary desk with a senton. Starkz was
pulling out all the stops early in an effort to become the
CMLL World Women's Champion.
Despite the damage, Starkz stayed on that momentum and
controlled the matchup for the next couple of minutes as she
continued to work on the back of Persephone. Persephone
finally fought back and got to her feet, stopping Starkz
with a big knee to the gut against the ropes. Starkz fired
back with a slap to the face and laughed at Persephone,
which only upset the champion that much more. In fact, that
seemed to give Persephone a second wind as she took Starkz
down to the mat multiple times. Persephone lifted Starkz off
the mat for a German suplex, but Starkz elbowed her way
free. Starkz was pushed into the corner and booted a
charging Persephone out of the way before rolling her up for
a two count.
Starkz went up to the top rope for Persephone to meet her
with a shot to the face, and she locked Starkz up for a
superplex, which connected, but Persephone rolled through
it. However, Starkz stopped her and hit a neckbreaker on
Persephone across her knee. With both women down, Rio Rancho
broke out into a "THIS IS AWESOME!” chant. Starkz tried to
run a knee into the downed Persephone, but Persephone caught
it and flipped her over into another near-fall. Persephone
started to make her way to the top rope, but Starkz pulled
her down hard and went to the top herself for a senton, but
she missed. Persephone speared Starkz in the middle of the
ring and picked her up with a crucifix bomb to get the
victory. Persephone retained the CMLL World Women's
Championship and will head into the TBS Championship
Survival of the Fittest match on Wednesday with a chance to
bring home two titles.
As Persephone celebrated after the match, one of her
opponents in the Survival of the Fittest match, Hikaru Shida
attacked her from behind with a kendo stick and trapped her
in a vicious submission. Three other opponents in Survival
of the Fittest, Kris Statlander, Harley Cameron and Queen
Aminata, hit the ring to run Shida off. Statlander, Aminata,
Cameron and Persephone all faced off in the ring with Shida
retreating up the ramp The sixth and final participant will
be decided when Skye Blue faces Maika tomorrow on the Buy-In
at Forbidden Door.
ROH World Tag Team Champion, IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team
Champion, CMLL World Trios and World Light Heavyweight
Champion Místico & "Speedball" Mike Bailey def. Premier
Athletes (Tony Nese and Ariya Daivari)
The crowd was primed for the magical entrance of Místico,
who was teaming with Speedball for the first time since they
were AEW World Trios Champions. Místico was riding even
higher after winning the ROH World Tag Team Titles alongside
Máscara Dorada from Sammy Guevara and The Beast Mortos last
night in the main event at Arena México for CMLL!
Speedball and Nese opened this one with Bailey getting the
better of Nese with one of his dangerous kicks. Daivari
grabbed Bailey’s hair, so Bailey fired back at him. Nese had
a chance to recover, so the Athletes were able to pound
Bailey down to the mat. Místico had had enough and came in
to stop the double-team, but was cut off by a pair of boots.
Bailey and Místico came back with stereo headscissors
takeovers, sending Nese and Daivari to the floor. Místico
and Bailey wanted to follow with dives, but slid under when
their targets moved. Daivari booted Bailey while chucking
Místico into the steel steps. Daivari hit a nasty DDT
variation to Bailey on the floor! Daivari threw him back in
to get a two-count.
Bailey cut Daivari off, but Nese grabbed Bailey on the
apron, which allowed Daivari to wail away at Bailey. That
is, until Místico charged around the ring to Nese, who
cartwheeled off the apron and dropped Místico with a
headbutt. Back in the ring, Bailey was sent into the mat
with a double-team DDT, but Místico came in to break up the
pin. Místico took down both Athletes with a double back
elbow and then controlled Daivari’s arm to come off the top
to take down both Nese and Daivari. Bailey and Místico tried
for another set of stereo dives, but this time, they
connected!
Bailey tagged Místico, who Nese immediately pulled down to
the floor. Back in the ring, Daivari leveled Bailey with a
hammerlock lariat! Nese tagged back in, and they tried a
double-back suplex on Bailey, but he slopped out the back.
Daivari charged, but Bailey was ready and sent him to the
apron. Nese charged Bailey and ate a huge front kick. Bailey
went back to Daivari and took him down with a leg sweep.
Nese stumbled into a big crossbody from Místico, and it
didn’t take long for Místico to connect with La Mística to
get the tap-out from Nese!
Gabe Kidd Is Returning Soon … and is Waiting for Shota Umino
Kidd said he’s been waiting three months to figure out what
he’ll do when he comes back. And the timing is funny for
Forbidden Door because he was told he’s at the mercy of the
U.S. government. For five years, he’s been about making this
a competition of company vs. company and who is the best.
Everyone wants to say it, but no one wants to prove it.
“Forbidden Door is not a one-day event to me. It’s an
everyday thing to me. It’s about the team that I rep. It’s
about AEW, now. It’s about Death Riders. It’s about
showcasing who’s the best. It’s not about putting two guys
together from different companies seeing how good they can
have a match. F THAT!”
Kidd addressed his recent attack on Shota Umino right after
he won the IWGP Global Heavyweight Title at NJPW Dominion,
and said it’s not about the IWGP Global Heavyweight Title.
Kidd said he’s waiting for Umino in his home country.
Don Callis Family's Jake Doyle def. Adam Priest
Doyle will be part of team DCMJF in the twelve-man steel
cage match in the main event of Forbidden Door. Last week,
Priest took Zach Sabre Jr. to the absolute limit ahead of
Sabre's match with Kenny Omega tomorrow night at Forbidden
Door. Doyle used his power to throw Priest away multiple
times at the beginning of the match, although Priest was not
intimidated and even did a few push-ups as he tried to fire
up the Rio Rancho crowd. Doyle stuffed a takedown attempt
and battled Priest into the corner, following up with a few
massive shoulder tackles. He threw Priest out of the corner
with a biel. When Priest tried to continue the offense, he
hammered away at Doyle's arm. Doyle didn't last long in the
arm hold and just pushed Priest away.
Doyle admired his handiwork and ran over Priest with three
consecutive shoulder blocks, only for Priest to show
resilience and hit a dropkick into the chest of the massive
Doyle. He followed up with an axe handle, but when he hit
the ropes for a third time, Doyle flattened him with a
clothesline! The power of Doyle was just too much and
continued to be an issue for Priest in this matchup. Priest
once again tried to target the arm of Doyle by wrenching it
over the top rope multiple times. With Doyle trying to shake
off the damage, Priest springboarded over the ropes with a
tornado DDT, and Doyle was finally in trouble for the first
time in the matchup!
Priest wrenched the arm once again, beating up both the
triceps and biceps with hammer blows. Priest tried to use
his speed to go off the ropes, but Doyle simply stepped on
his foot and clobbered Priest to the mat. Doyle fired Priest
off the ropes, and when he tried to grab him again, Priest
snapped him over and attempted to put the bigger Doyle in a
cross armbreaker, which he eventually did. Doyle was in
trouble in the middle of the ring! Doyle rolled over and
deadlifted Priest, bringing him down with a sit-out
powerbomb to break the hold. Unreal strength from Doyle, not
only breaking the hold but delivering some devastating
offense at the same time.
Doyle was first to his feet, but when he went over to pick
up Priest, he got a pair of boots to the face. Doyle missed
the charge in the corner and collided with the second
turnbuckle. Priest came rushing in, but caught Doyle's foot.
He spun Doyle around and gut-wrenched him with a German
suplex out of the corner. Priest followed with a DDT. 1-2-
Doyle kicked out! What a flurry of offense from Priest, who
was once again putting all of his tremendous skills on
display! Priest tried to fire up the crowd as he made his
way to the top rope. He measured Doyle on his way down, but
Doyle just swatted him out of the air with a forearm to the
side of the face. But maybe Doyle gloated too long, because
Priest tried for a small package and got a two count. That
pissed off Doyle, who threw Priest into the ropes and ended
him with Intro the Void for the pin! Doyle takes an
impressive victory and some momentum into his first pay-per-
view match in AEW as part of team DCMJF.
Mercedes Moné and Maya World are on a Collision Course
Tonight and Tomorrow!
Before the Forbidden Door preview in the upcoming tag team
match, World and Moné offered final words towards each other
with Moné telling World that she’s been carrying the
industry on her back for too long and won’t lose it to her
biggest fan.
Willow Nightingale is on the Comeback!
For the first time since her injury, we saw Willow
Nightingale and the beginning of her comeback. As footage
played of her training both in and out of the ring,
Nightingale said she had always dreamed and strived of being
the best, but somewhere along the way of her journey and
success, she let that dream die. Now, she’s on her way back
and knows what she’s made of.

Our main event gave us a preview of the Owen Hart Foundation
Women’s Tournament with Moné and World on opposite sides of
this tag match. Athena stormed out of the curtain for her
entrance, as she clearly was still upset about last week’s
loss to her mentee, World, in the Semifinals of the Owen
Cup. All four women fought at the bell, but it was Hyan who
caught Athena and dropped her across World’s knees. Moné and
Athena were stacked up in the corner, so Hyan sent World
into them with a cannonball. They bailed to the floor, but
World and Hyan soon followed with a pair of dives.
World picked up where she left off last week with a plethora
of offense on Athena, but she was stopped when Moné grabbed
World’s hair behind the referee’s back. Moné continued to
punish World on the floor and back in the ring before
tagging Athena. They put World on the mat with a double
vertical suplex for a two-count. Athena unloaded on World on
the apron and stunned her with a big hip attack. Moné
dropkicked World to get a two-count and tagged Athena.
Athena controlled and tagged Moné back in for another double
suplex on World, but she floated over and rolled to the
corner to tag Hyan!
Hyan was a house of fire once she entered the ring, quickly
taking down both Moné and Athena. Athena sent Hyan to the
corner, but Hyan bounced right out for a running boot to
Athena’s face! That changed the complexion of the match.
Hyan connected with a side suplex for a two-count. Moné
tagged back in and stayed on the apron to grab Hyan. She
threw her into Athena, who caught and lifted Hyan for a
powerbomb on the apron! Moné followed with a meteora to Hyan
on the floor. Hyan is in major trouble! Moné and Athena
stayed on Hyan with quick tags. Athena and Moné hit double
back elbows, and Athena followed with an aggressive senton
splash for a near-fall!
Moné rolled Hyan into Three Amigos, but on the third, Hyan
rolled her up and nearly won the match! Moné missed a
running meteora in the corner and tried to stop Hyan from
making a tag, but Hyan kicked free and tagged World as
Athena tagged in on the other side. World lit Athena up with
a variety of kicks to send her to the corner, which she
followed with a running European uppercut! World rolled
through Athena and double-stomped her in the gut for a near-
fall. World went up to the second rope, but Moné held her
long enough so that Athena could recover and rip World down
to the mat. Athena booted Hyan off the apron and tagged
Moné. Athena hit a lungblower right into Moné’s backstabber
on World. What a combo! Moné covered, but Hyan speared
Athena into Moné to break up the pin!
“THIS IS AWESOME!”
Moné and World fought to their feet and exchanged big
forearm shots. World caught a pump kick and kicked World in
the chest. Moné was up against the ropes, where Athena made
a blind tag. As World charged, Moné got her boot up while
Athena made a blind tag. World hit a cutter on Moné, but
Athena was still legal. Athena suplexed World at a dangerous
angle, but turned right into an explosive knee from Hyan!
What a match! What a main event!
World tagged Hyan, who went right to Athena and picked her
up for the start of a double-team maneuver, but Moné pulled
World out of the ring. Hyan and Athena exchanged quick
nearfalls. Hyan avoided a rolling elbow and tried for a
powerbomb, so Athena slipped out of it and landed on her
feet. Hyan stayed on her with a foot to the gut and threw
Athena to the corner. Athena ran up the ropes and connected
with a lightning-fast O-Face out of nowhere to get the
pinfall victory while Moné had World locked in the Statement
Maker on the floor! Moné and Athena attacked Hyan after the
bell, just as they did to World last week. Finally, World
dropped Athena and then Moné with stiff thrust kicks to
their respective jaws. World followed them to the floor with
a moonsault from the second rope that nailed Moné and
Athena! World stared down at Moné from the ring, while Moné
gathered herself at the base of the Owen Cup as Collision
came to a close!
