Maya World scored a huge upset last night on Collision and
beat the ROH Women’s champion Athena in the women’s Owen
Hart Cup tournament semi final match, booking a date with
last year’s winner Mercedes Mone in the final.
World was not even supposed to be part of the tournament and
replaced the injured Sareee in the same week that she lost
her 25-year-old brother in a fatal highway crash.
Both Athena and Mone hugged Maya after her victory but the
feel-good moment quickly turned around, with both of them
attacking her, leaving her down and out in the middle of the
ring.
The final of the women’s Owen Hart Cup tournament takes
place at Forbidden Door and the winner goes on to All In to
wrestle for the AEW Women’s title.
