Friends and supporters of independent wrestler Harleen Lopez
are raising money for urgent medical care after X-rays
revealed a spinal issue that forced her to miss bookings
over the weekend.
Lopez, 24, was unable to compete after imaging showed an
unhealthy lack of curvature in her spine, along with severe
underlying spasms, according to a GoFundMe organized by
wrestler and promoter Anthony Perillo, who is known as Billy
Avery and is one of the promoters for Philadelphia-based
Labor of Love.
Perillo wrote that Lopez needs an MRI to determine the cause
of her symptoms and help map out a recovery plan. Because
Lopez does not have health insurance, she is facing
significant out-of-pocket costs for the MRI, consultations
with spine and neck specialists, neurologists, physical
therapy and other treatment.
“One of our talents, Harleen Lopez, needs your support,”
Perillo wrote on the fundraiser page. “Since joining us in
2023, Harleen has poured her heart into the ring.”
Cheeseburger, who trained Lopez, also shared the fundraiser
on Facebook and said she was unable to compete because of
the X-ray results. He described Lopez as “a stalwart
performer around the Northeast” who is still early in her
wrestling career.
Lopez has wrestled for Labor of Love, Power Pro Lucha,
Beyond Wrestling, Wrestling Open, Ring of Honor, LVAC,
Flying V Fights and other independent promotions.
“Harleen has given so much of herself to the wrestling
business and to the fans,” Perillo wrote. “Now, it’s our
turn to give back to her.”
Donations are being accepted through the fundraiser, with
proceeds going toward Lopez’s medical bills and diagnostic
care.
