WRESTLEMANIA 40: A historic night for WWE with the first WrestleMania without Vince McMahon

Posted on 4/06/124 by Colin Vassallo

This WrestleMania is one for the history books as it is the
first WrestleMania which is both Vince McMahon-free.

Throughout its history, WrestleMania had many different
protagonists, main eventers, and everything in between but
there was always one man who was constant in the previous 39
editions: the former WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon.

The man who started it all. The man who built professional
wrestling in what it is today.

But this weekend, there will be no McMahon screaming in the
announcers headphones, no McMahon giving instructions at
gorilla position, and no McMahon doing last-minute changes
to the script.

Simply put, there will be no Vince McMahon backstage at all.
The disgraced former TKO Chairman of the Board has more
pressing things on his mind: a major lawsuit from his ex-
lover Janel Grant and a possible federal investigation.

McMahon was forced to resign in the first week of January
after the explosive lawsuit was filed and WWE has cut all
ties with him, even banning his name from being said on
television, at least for now.

It’s also important to add that this is also the first
WrestleMania without Executive Producer and Chief of Global
TV Distribution Kevin Dunn, who has also seen every single
WrestleMania except for the one this weekend. Dunn departed
WWE after McMahon lost most of his power following the TKO
merger and gone were the much-hated shaky and quick cuts
from WWE television.

It’s a new era in WWE and Triple H and Nick Khan are fully
in charge of WrestleMania, with Triple H calling the shots
creatively.
