ALL ELITE WRESTLING COLLISION/TNT/HBO MAX: May 2 report

Posted on 5/03/126 by Bob Magee

AEW Collision was LIVE from Peoria, Illinois, on TBS and HBO
Max with a great night of action as we get closer to Double
or Nothing in three weeks on May 24! A big week of
championship matches continued with three more titles on the
line tonight on Collision.

TNT Champion “The Jet” Kevin Knight came away with his
second successful defense of the week when he turned away
HOOK in the main event of Collision. Now, Knight will head
into the biggest match of his career when he faces Darby
Allin for the AEW World Championship this Wednesday on a
LIVE 3-Hour Special Dynamite and Collision.

Meanwhile, TBS Champion Willow Nightingale made it 4-for-4
as the “Comeback Killer” with tonight’s victory over the
returning Anna Jay to keep the TBS Title, and AEW National
Champion “Jungle” Jack Perry also retained his title in an
exciting showdown with Mácara Dorada.

Plus, we saw a wild 10-man tag for the second week in a row
with the Death Riders and The Dogs coming together to beat
The Rascalz and Top Flight. Later in the night, though, Bang
Bang Gang beat Daniel Garcia and Wheeler Yuta. When the
Death Riders tried to attack after the match, Colten and
Austin Gunn returned to make the save.

It was a jam-packed evening of the best pro wrestling in the
world! Here are your complete Collision results!

Death Riders (AEW Continental Champion Jon Moxley, Claudio
Castagnoli and PAC) & The Dogs (David Finlay and Clark
Connors) def. Top Flight (Dante and Darius Martin) & The
Rascalz (Dezmond Xavier, Zachary Wentz and Myron Reed)

There’s nothing like watching Marina Shafir slap Jon Moxley
to kick off a hot Saturday night of Collision in Peoria! By
the way, Moxley looked positively giddy coming to the ring
with Shafir, Castagnoli and PAC, with both Tony Schiavone
and Nigel McGuinness guessing that had to do with Will
Ospreay agreeing to train with the Death Riders. The Rascalz
and Top Flight certainly brought a different vibe during
their entrance, and that continued before the match even
began, as The Rascalz and Top Flight dove to the outside
onto The Dogs and Death Riders! Only Reed and Castagnoli
remained in the ring as the bell rang! Reed escaped
Castagnoli’s gorilla press attempt and hit a huge dive to
the outside! The brawl continued outside the ring until
Wentz and Connors wound up battling it out in the ring.
Wentz took control of Connors in the corner and then came
out with a tornillo out of nowhere to get a near-fall.

Connors backed Wentz into the corner so that Finlay could
tag in. He immediately pounded away on Wentz until Wentz got
away to tag Xavier. Xavier and Reed hit some double-team
offense, but PAC came in to break up the pin. He wound up in
there with Darius Martin, but took a cheap shot from Moxley,
who then officially tagged in the match for the first time.
Moxley mounted Darius for punches in the corner, but
surprisingly, that seemed to fire up Darius. He went shot-
for-shot with Moxley and tagged in Dante.

Dante and Darius worked over Moxley in the corner and seemed
to stun Mox with their double-team offense. Reed tagged in
to take advantage, but quickly found himself in a chop
battle with Moxley. Reed was smart enough to abandon that
and used his speed to take Moxley down. However, Moxley sent
Reed to the outside and took a cheap shot from Shafir behind
the referee’s back! Xavier came around the corner and off
the stairs to DDT Castagnoli! Finlay threw Xavier into the
ring post! Wentz came flying around the corner with a
shotgun dropkick to Finlay that sent him into the barricade!
Connors shoulder blocked Wentz over the announce desk! Dante
came out of nowhere with a leaping knee that nailed Connors!
PAC crushed Dante with a pump kick! Darius swung around the
ring post to kick PAC! Moxley knocked Darius off the apron
and to the floor. Reed dropped a leg on Moxley over the
second rope, but when he tried to go to the top rope for
more offense, he came down into a huge uppercut from
Castagnoli!

Reed was isolated from his partners for a significant
stretch and took a lot of damage until he started to kick
his way free of Connors. However, the Death Riders and
Finlay ran in to clear everyone out of the opposite corner.
Reed had no one to tag until he hit a double cutter out of
nowhere on The Dogs and tagged Xavier! However, before
Xavier could do anything, Wentz and Top Flight dove onto the
Death Riders on the floor! Back in the ring, Xavier fought
off The Dogs by himself with a cutter on Finlay and a
handspring Pele kick on Connors! He tagged Wentz, and they
went to work on Connors in the corner with a barrage of
offense. Xavier catapulted Connors into a superkick from
Wentz, who went back up to the top rope to stomp Connors
while Xavier held him down! Wentz covered, but Finlay made
the save just in time!

Xavier and Wentz set up for Hot Fire Flame, but Finlay
yanked Xavier from the ring. Connors threw Wentz into Finlay
for a Dominator, and then nearly cut Wentz in half with a
spear, but Xavier broke up the pin just in time! Wentz and
Connors fought back to their feet, and Wentz took him down
with a handspring rising knee. Darius and PAC tagged in at
the same time, with Darius nearly pinning PAC on three quick
pin attempts! PAC missed a clothesline, which allowed Dante
to tag in and nail PAC with a springboard crossbody from the
top rope for a nearfall! Dante tagged Darius, who dropped to
the floor. PAC charged at Dante, who backflipped out of
PAC’s path into the ropes for a big kick from Darius. Dante
hit a thrust kick, and Darius came back in with a flatliner,
but Castagnoli broke up the pin attempt. He blocked Top
Flight’s double suplex attempt and took them both over with
a double suplex of his own! Castagnoli swung Dante around
until Moxley ended the ride with a dropkick. Reed came back
in and superkicked Moxley from the ring. Castagnoli tried to
swing Reed, but Xavier jumped on his back and was thrown
back into Reed. Xavier somehow adjusted and sent Reed into
Castagnoli’s gut!. The Rascalz and Top Flight had a 5-on-1
advantage and kicked Castagnoli down to his knees before
taking him out with a five-man kick! The crowd was on fire!

Finlay clotheslined Top Flight, but walked right into a
triple superkick from The Rascalz. They started to pepper
him with big kicks in the corner, but he stopped any more
offense by catching Reed and throwing him into Wentz.
Connors speared Xavier, and Finlay took out his knee in a
devastating high/low! Wentz and Reed came back in with
stereo Codebreakers on The Dogs. Mox and PAC came in to book
Wentz and Reed from the ring. Darius dropped PAC with a
discus strike, and Dante charged Moxley, but he threw him
back into Darius. Top Flight adjusted to hit an assisted DDT
on Moxley! PAC knocked Dante from the ring with a thrust
kick, but Darius rolled him up for a two-count! Darius
missed a charge in the corner and immediately ate an
uppercut from Castagnoli, another from PAC and a running
charge from Moxley. PAC turned Darius head over heels with a
momentum lariat and locked in the Brutalizer to get the
submission victory!

Before he defended the AEW National Title, we heard from
“Jungle” Jack Perry as he rolled down the highway in the
Jurassic Express with Luchasaurus behind the wheel! After a
brief stop to relieve themselves, Perry made it clear that
he was ready to defend his AEW National Title. Jack Perry’s
National Tour continues tonight on Collision!

AEW National Championship Match: “Jungle” Jack Perry (c)
def. Máscara Dorada

Both men were extremely popular with the crowd and exchanged
a handshake at the bell. Dorada took Perry down early, and
it looked like Perry clocked it and adjusted his plan to
keep Dorada on the mat. Perry took Dorada down with a
dropkick and chopped him down with authority. Dorada avoided
Perry with a handspring off the ropes and took him down with
a flying headscissors. Perry chopped Dorada and climbed the
ropes for a lucha-like armdrag. Dorada came back and did the
same, but with a pair of rebounds off the ropes! With Perry
on the outside, Dorada dove over the top rope with a
tornillo! He celebrated with the crowd, but did so for a
little too long, as Perry was able to come back with an
elbow and sent Dorada into the ring post. Perry nailed a
pendulum kick around the post, and Dorada went sprawling.
Perry and Dorada wound up fighting on top of the barricade,
with Dorada fighting out of a suplex attempt to nail Perry
with a Destroyer!

Dorada missed a 450 splash from the top and avoided Perry
running in the corner by scaling the ropes and flipping back
to the middle of the ring. Perry tried to do the same on the
other side and thought he had Dorada for a German Suplex,
but Dorada landed on his feet. Perry and Dorada traded
thrust kicks, and Perry fought out of a suplex attempt to
spike Dorada with a Poisonrana! Perry came off the ropes,
only for Dorada to put Perry on the mat with a Code Red!
Both men were down! Dorada and Perry fought back to their
feet with Dorada opening up on Perry against the ropes.
Perry reversed a shoot to the ropes and slammed Dorada with
a Blue Thunder Bomb. Dorada kicked out! Perry chopped Dorada
into the corner and unleashed a flurry of strikes. Perry
sent Dorada to the opposite corner, where Dorada turned
things around with a Gamangiri. Perry looked dazed, so
Dorada tried to springboard, only for Perry to send him to
the floor with a stiff forearm. Perry went to the top and
got every bit of a moonsault to Dorada on the floor! Perry
threw Dorada back in and cartwheeled over for a deadlift
Liger Bomb! Dorada somehow kicked out again!

Perry threw Dorada to the corner and mounted him for
punches, but Dorada escaped and swung through the ropes for
a pendulum kick. Dorada put Perry on his shoulders and
flipped him over to an Electric Chair Cutter on the way
down! How did he do that?! Perry kicked out at two! Perry
and Dorada battled for a suplex on the ropes until Dorada
knocked Perry back to the ring. Dorada hit a 450 Splash from
the top rope! He needed a second to deal with the pain from
the impact, so Perry got just enough time to kick out and
save his title.

Perry blocked a Destroyer attempt on the apron and the two
traded superkicks. Perry went up to the top and took Dorada
down with a hurricanrana to the floor. Perry threw Dorada
back in and immediately went to the top, but Dorada caught
him with a knee on the way down. Dorada planted Perry with a
face-first crucifix bomb! Perry kicked out to keep the match
alive! Dorada went back up top, but took too long on a
Shooting Star Press, and Perry put his knees up to cradle
Dorada for a near-fall! Perry put Dorada on the top
turnbuckle and tried to meet him up there, but Dorada
knocked him back to the mat. Perry ran up the ropes and sent
Dorada crashing to the mat with a hurricanrana! He hooked
the leg and kept Dorada down for the three-count! Perry
successfully defended the AEW National Championship in an
outstanding match! Perry and Dorada embraced on the floor in
a sign of respect after the match.

We Heard From Hikaru Shida & Kris Statlander After Dynamite

We went back to comments from Shida and Statlander with
Renee Paquette after Dynamite. Paquette brought up their AEW
Women’s World Tag Team Championship loss to Divine Dominion
and Stat missing out on what would have been an historic win
as the first female triple crown champion in AEW. Shida said
they almost had the belts won, but said she didn’t blame
Statlander because it wasn’t her fault.

Stat took exception to that and pushed Shida into the wall.
She said Shida didn’t listen to her, kicked Stat in the
stomach, and kept tagging in at the wrong time. Shida tried
to speak, so Stat put her hand over Shida’s mouth and said
Shida has said enough. Stat said she had a chance at
history, and Shida cost her everything! Shida profusely
apologized and brought up their seven-year friendship. She
promised to make it up to Stat, who pushed Shida away and
stormed off. Shida reiterated she would would make it up to
Stat.

Non-Title Match: AEW World Trios Champions The
Conglomeration (Orange Cassidy, Roderick Strong and Kyle
O’Reilly) def. MxM TV (Mason Madden, Mansoor and Johnny TV)

The Conglomeration made their way to the ring, complete with
backpacks holding their AEW World Trios Titles, which they
revealed all at once in the ring! O’Reilly and Mansoor
started things, but Mansoor quickly tagged out after a big
kick to the leg from O’Reilly. Madden came in and got the
same treatment, so he tagged Johnny TV. Johnny avoided a
kick and then took one to the rest instead. O’Reilly mounted
and hit 10 punches to Johnny in the corner. Strong did the
same and then tagged Cassidy. He mounted Johnny and loaded
up for one big punch, but Madden and Mansoor ran around to
pull O’Reilly and Strong off the apron. That allowed Johnny
to escape Cassidy by kicking him in the hamstring. Johnny
went over the top with a tornillo to take out Strong and
O’Reilly. Madden and Mansoor feigned a dive onto Cassidy,
but turned around to hit their pose for the camera. Cassidy
came back in the ring to join the pose, and when MXM
noticed, they went after him. Mansoor grabbed Cassidy from
behind with a waist lock and pulled him back for a German
Suplex as Madden added an axe kick at the same time! Johnny
hit Starship Pain from the top, but O’Reilly came in to make
the save!

Madden put Cassidy on his shoulders while Mansoor and Johnny
each climbed to adjacent turnbuckles. O’Reilly pulled Johnny
down by his legs on the turnbuckle, which really scrambled
TV’s channels. Cassidy got away from Madden, so he and
Strong sent Madden into Mansoor on the top rope. Mansoor
suffered a fate similar to Johnny's. O’Reilly came off the
apron with a flying knee to Johnny on the floor. Strong
stopped Madden from a flurry on Cassidy and dropped the much
larger man with a fireman’s carry slam! Strong put Cassidy
on his shoulders, so he was taller than Madden, and Cassidy
goozled Madden for a chokeslam. However, the physics didn’t
really work out, and Madden broke free. He tried to
clothesline Cassidy, so Strong lowered down enough for
Madden to miss and get sent to the floor by a low bridge
from O’Reilly. With Cassidy still on Strong’s shoulders, he
stopped Mansoor on the top rope and sent him to the floor
onto Madden in what can only be described as a chokeslam
from oh well. Back in the ring, Johnny ate a nasty double-
team of kicks from Strong and O’Reilly. Cassidy went up top
and asked them to drag Johnny closer. Cassidy dropped the
apathetic elbow to get the pinfall victory!

After the match, “Psycho Killer” Tommasso Ciampa slowly made
his way down the aisle, but stopped before making it all the
way to the ring. He pointed to a figurative watch and
signaled for title belts, as it will be Cassidy taking on
AEW World Tag Team Champion Dax Harwood this Wednesday in a
Double Jeopardy Match. The winner will get a shot at the
loser’s championship, so if Harwood wins, he’ll team with
Cash Wheeler and Ciampa to face The Conglomeration for the
AEW World Trios Titles.

Following a commercial, we were welcomed back to Collision
by Schiavone and McGuinness at the announce desk to send
well wishes and prayers to our own Rebel, who announced she
was diagnosed with ALS earlier this week. Schiavone
acknowledged some signs in the crowd in support of Rebel,
who has everyone’s support in whatever she has to face in
the future. We are all pulling for you, Rebel!

How Will Ospreay Wound Up Training With the Death Riders

After Ospreay shockingly showed up to the Death Riders’
training this past Wednesday on Dynamite, we took a look
back at the history that brought Ospreay from a broken neck
at the hands of Moxley and the Death Riders to now training
with them to become the ultimate weapon.

TBS Championship Match: Willow Nightingale (c) def. Anna Jay

Anna Jay was welcomed back to AEW with a great response from
the crowd, but Nightingale was all smiles and all business
for another chance to be the “Comeback Killer!”

Nightingale overpowered Jay and placed her on the top rope.
She yelled at Jay that if this is her comeback, she should
show her fire! Nightingale took Jay down again, but Jay came
back with a sunset flip that got a near-fall. She went to a
cradle for another two-count. Jay tried a La Magistral, but
Nightingale kicked out again. Nightingale got Jay into the
corner and punished her with lariats before pulling her out
to drop Jay with a short-arm clothesline. Nightingale missed
a senton splash, so Jay took advantage with a flipping
neckbreaker to get a near-fall. Jay kicked Nightingale in
the corner and sent her to the mat with a snapmare. Jay hit
Nightingale with a basement dropkick for a one-count. Jay
knocked Nightingale from the apron to the floor, but
Nightingale tripped Jay from the floor and took her down on
the apron. Nightingale ran down the apron and flattened Jay
with a cannonball!

We came back from commercial to see Nightingale drop Jay
with a spinebuster for a near-fall! Nightingale missed a
charge in the corner, which allowed Jay to hit a pair of
elbows. In the opposite corner, Jay hit a spin kick and a
bulldog for a two-count! Nightingale tried a backslide, but
Jay kicked out. She tried it again and then sent Jay to the
corner with a jumping elbow. After a short lariat,
Nightingale put Jay on the top turnbuckle and went up to
bring Jay down with a superplex. Nightingale floated over
and lifted Jay for a Death Valley Driver that connected. Jay
kicked out again!

Nightingale picked up Jay for the Babe with the Powerbomb,
but Jay got loose and popped Nightingale with a reverse kick
to the chin. Jay took Nightingale down with a facebuster,
but this time, Nightingale kicked out, although there wasn’t
much on it. Jay locked Nightingale in the Queen Slayer, but
Nightingale got to her feet and ran Jay into the corner to
break the hold. Nightingale pulled Jay out of the corner,
but Jay got loose and pushed Nightingale to the ropes. Jay
chased after, so Nightingale snatched her for a Babe With
the Powerbomb to get the pinfall victory! That’s TBS Title
defense #9 for Nightingale!

Stat and Shida Will Face Mina Shirakawa and Harley Cameron!

Renee Paquette was with all four women, and Shida once again
apologized to Stat. She came through on her promise to make
it up to Statlander with a tag match against Shirakawa and
Cameron! Cameron was surprised because she didn’t think
Shida wanted to wrestle anyone who wasn’t on her level, and
wondered if she was on Shida’s level now. Shida said Cameron
doesn’t even deserve to touch her kendo stick.

Shirakawa asked how Stat could trust Shida again. Then she
asked Stat where she was when “Timeless” Toni Storm was
attacked. Shida said she’s not listening anymore, and
Cameron tried to level with Stat, but she walked away. Shida
did the same. Paquette asked if she could have a match like
this, and Shirakawa cut in to apologize. Cameron simply
said, “I don’t even know what to say right now.”

Bang Bang Gang (Juice Robinson and Ace Austin) def. Death
Riders (Wheeler Yuta and Daniel Garcia)

Another match for the Death Riders meant AEW Continental
Champion Jon Moxley on commentary after a big 10-man tag win
earlier in the night. Moxley called the match a tornado,
where you hang on and hope everything will be OK. McGuinness
asked Moxley about Ospreay, but Moxley said that was for
Ospreay to answer and not everything is for public
consumption.

Yuta and Robinson started things off, but Yuta knocked
Austin off the apron, and Garcia attacked Robinson from
behind. They double-teamed Robinson in the corner, and Yuta
brought Garcia in officially with a tag. They dropped
Robinson with a double shoulder tackle. Yuta tagged back in,
but Robinson fought both of them off and tagged Austin. He
lit up Yuta with a big kick and took Garcia down to the mat
with some more lower-body offense. Yuta recovered and
knocked Austin down with a boot to the gut. Austin rolled
away from Yuta and trapped him with his massive legs before
delivering a big kick to Yuta’s back. Austin followed with a
basement dropkick, and Yuta bailed to the corner. Yuta
missed a charge to the opposite corner, and Garcia tried to
go after Austin, but Austin was ready with a forearm. He hit
Yuta with a shot, and Garcia came back to trip Austin, so
much like he did against AEW International Champion “The
Rainmaker” Kazuchika Okada on Dynamite, Austin avoided
Garcia with a one-handed handstand! However, Yuta didn’t let
him stay there long and dropkicked Austin to the floor!

Garcia and Shafir put the boots to Austin while the referee
was distracted by Yuta and an angry Robinson in the ring. As
Moxley noted, “What the ref sees is the only thing that
matters!” Yuta stayed on Austin with a Fisherman’s Suplex,
but Austin kicked out. He remained in peril for several
minutes and was attacked with multiple strikes in the
corner. The Death Riders kicked Austin back down to the mat
with a double dropkick. Garcia locked Austin in a
submission, which Moxley couldn’t have been more excited to
see because it was a Peruvian Necktie, which he confirmed
with Shafir, the expert at ringside. Austin broke the hold
by getting to the ropes, but he still needed to break free
to get to his corner. He finally kicked Garcia away and used
his immense leg strength to put Garcia down with a Death
Valley Driver! Illinois’ own Robinson finally made the tag
as Moxley realized Robinson had the Illinois power.

“The spirit of Abraham Lincoln is alive in Peoria!”

Robinson ran through Yuta and pulled Garcia into the ring
the hard way. He hit Yuta with a pair of elbows and
clotheslined Garcia over the top to the floor. After another
elbow to Yuta, Robinson launched himself onto Garcia on the
outside! Garcia grabbed Robinson to hold him for a Yuta
dive, but Robinson moved Garcia in the way! Robinson slammed
Yuta’s head off the commentary desk and busted him open
right in front of Moxley! Robinson threw Yuta back in, as
blood flowed out of his forehead. Robinson peppered Yuta
with punches, so Garcia tried to stop him, only for Robinson
to drop him off the apron with a left cross. He went back to
peppering Yuta with jabs and loaded up the Left Hand of God,
but stopped when Shafir got on the apron. Yuta charged, so
Robinson missed him and hit Shafir! Robinson rolled up Yuta
for a two-count! Robinson floored Yuta with an axe kick!
Garcia broke up the pin just in time! Austin came back in to
even the sides until Garcia sent him over the top rope to
the floor, where Austin came down on the steel steps! Back
in the ring, Yuta rolled through a sunset flip to send
Robinson back to Garcia for a piledriver! Garcia launched
Yuta from the top with a Fastball Special, and it was on the
mark! 1-2-Robinson kicked out!

Yuta missed a Busaiku Knee to Robinson, but Garcia didn’t
miss on his shot to Robinson. Austin hit a springboard spin
kick to Garcia’s head, but Yuta immediately put Austin down
with a Samoan Drop. Robinson hit Yuta with the Left Hand of
God out of nowhere and followed with The Juice is Loose to
get the pinfall on Yuta! Moxley fell to his knees in
emotional agony, but then acknowledged Robinson, apparently
gesturing for Moxley’s AEW Continental Championship. Garcia
nailed Robinson from behind and wailed away at Robinson
while Yuta did the same to Austin.

GUNNS UP!

Austin and Colten Gunn are back! Bang Bang Gang has gotten
stronger! They cleared the ring, which only left Moxley!
Shafir pulled Moxley to safety, but she couldn’t save Yuta
from 3:10 to Yuma from the Gunns! As the Death Riders
recovered on the floor, Austin got the mic and said, “The
Collision Cowboys are back!” Bang Bang Gang celebrated their
win and their strength in numbers, as the Death Riders had
to hold Shafir back from getting in the ring.

AEW Women’s World Tag Team Champions Divine Dominion Tell
Everyone to Stop Trying

Lexy Nair said she was standing with “Colossal” Lena Kross
and “Megasus” Megan Bayne, but Bayne corrected her to say
that Nair isn’t standing with them. She’s standing beneath
them, just like the entire division. Kross said they just
beat two former AEW Women’s World Champions in Statlander
and Shida. So, what two women even want to try to stand with
them? Bayne said the only hope the division has is if god
has mercy on their souls and strikes both Bayne and Kross
down. Kross closed it out by telling everyone to stop
trying.

Triangle of Madness’ Skye Blue def. Nixi XS

Blue came out of the corner with a big boot at the bell to
the floor, Nixi. Blue kicked at Nixi and sent her to the
apron before kicking her to the floor. She slammed Nixi off
the steel steps repeatedly before dropping her with a
spinning neckbreaker from the apron. Blue went to the top
and played to the crowd, so Nixi met her with a running
forearm. Blue quickly turned things around by trapping
Nixi’s neck in the turnbuckle. She followed with a powerbomb
out of the corner and a running knee right to Nixi’s face!
Blue pulled Nixi up at two! She trapped Nixi in a dragon
sleeper with a body scissors, which she called The Descent
into Madness, and got the tap-out victory! Blue absolutely
dominated in that match.

TNT Championship Match: “The Jet” Kevin Knight (c) def. HOOK
of The Opps (with Katsuyori Shibata)

Our main event was the third championship bout of the
evening, as Knight tried for his second successful TNT Title
defense of the week after beating MJF on Dynamite. HOOK came
to the ring with Katsuyori Shibata, but Knight had no one
with him.

HOOK used a cheap trip to take Knight down, but Knight asked
if Shibata taught HOOK that, as Shibata once trained Knight
at the NJPW Dojo. Knight turned things around and sent HOOK
to the mat. They hooked back up in a collar-and-elbow tie-up
that went all over the ropes without anyone getting the
advantage. HOOK put Knight down with a judo toss. Knight
tried to hip-toss HOOK, but HOOK landed on his feet. HOOK
tried the same on Knight, only for Knight to land on his
feet! Knight hit a pair of armdrags and went for a dropkick,
but HOOK bailed out of the way and got some words of wisdom
from Shibata.

HOOK cut Knight off with a shot to the gut and worked him
into the corner. Knight almost immediately turned things
around and peppered HOOK with shots in the corner. He tried
to reload and do it again, but this time HOOK switched
things up and threw some heavy shots at Knight before
punctuating the flurry with a headbutt. HOOK charged Knight
at the apron, so Knight sent him to the floor. Knight tried
a plancha, and HOOK moved, so Knight landed on his feet.
Shibata stepped in Knight’s way and then took a shot at
Knight, but Knight ducked and ran up the steel steps to come
down on HOOK. However, HOOK caught Knight on the way down
and sent him into the front row with an exploder suplex!

That gave HOOK the opening to take control of the match for
the next few minutes until things spilled back into the
ring. HOOK sent Knight over with a Northern Lights Suplex
and held it for a pin attempt, but Knight kicked out. HOOK
complained about the count and sent Knight to the corner for
more body shots. HOOK sent Knight to the opposite corner,
but Knight fired out with a clothesline. He followed up with
another and then skied over HOOK with a jumping lariat!
Knight smashed HOOK with a running UFO Splash, yet HOOK was
able to kick out to keep his chances alive.

HOOK blocked a jumping DDT, but Knight got him into the
corner and put HOOK on the top turnbuckle. Knight jumped up
to bring HOOK down to the mat with a hurricanrana. Knight
used Shibata’s hesitation dropkick on HOOK in the corner!
Knight went up top, but Shibata got on the apron to distract
him. HOOK grabbed the referee’s attention, which allowed
Shibata to grab the ropes and knock Knight back down to the
top turnbuckle. HOOK went up to meet Knight, so Knight
shoved him back down to the mat. HOOK went back up and threw
Knight over his head all the way down to the mat!

HOOK came back with a high-angle suplex to get a near-fall
as the 10-minute warning was announced. HOOK hit Knight with
a PK, although a sloppy pin gave Knight a chance to kick
out. HOOK was clearly frustrated and called for REDRUM. HOOK
locked it in, but Knight dropped down and rolled up HOOK for
a two-count. Knight rolled up HOOK again, but when HOOK
kicked out, he sent Knight into Shibata on the apron, only
for Knight to wallop Shibata with a forearm! HOOK tried to
throw Knight over his head again, and somehow Knight blocked
it by getting his hands down just in time. HOOK turned
around to eat a big lariat from Knight. Knight followed with
a jumping DDT and pulled HOOK into position for the UFO
Splash. Knight went up top and connected to get the pinfall
victory! Knight retained the TNT Title, and now he turns his
attention to his AEW World Championship match with Darby
Allin on the 3-HOUR LIVE SPECIAL Dynamite and Collision this
Wednesday!
