AEW Dynamite Spring BreakThru was LIVE from Everett,
Washington, on TBS and HBO Max to celebrate the first
anniversary of AEW Dynamite becoming the longest-running
primetime wrestling program on Turner Sports. There’s no
better way to celebrate than to put the best professional
wrestling in the world on display, including one of the
biggest moments in AEW history and the surprise return of
STING!
In the main event, Darby Allin overcame MJF’s usual tactics
in the opening moments of the match to put MJF down with a
Scorpion Death Drop and FOUR Coffin Drops. And just like MJF
did to him at Full Gear 2021, Allin beat MJF with a headlock
takeover to get the three count and become the NEW AEW WORLD
CHAMPION! Before the match, Sting made a surprise appearance
to give Allin some encouragement and then joined Allin and
the locker room in the ring to celebrate, as Dynamite came
to a close.
We also saw TBS Champion Willow Nightingale overcome a
shoulder injury to beat Kamille and retain the TBS Title.
New TNT Champion “The Jet” Kevin Knight had a successful
first defense of the TNT Title, but he certainly had to earn
it in a win over Claudio Castagnoli.
Plus, a battered Will Ospreay survived everything Hechicero
could throw at him, only to be attacked by Mark Davis after
the match. Jericho suffered a 3-on-1 attack at the hands of
The Demand. And we found out AEW Women’s World Champion “The
Toxic Spider” Thekla will face NJPW Strong Women’s Champion
Alex Windsor on Collision!
What a night we had for Dynamite Spring BreakThru in
Everett, Washington! Here are your complete results!
AEW World Champion MJF Finds Out He’s Wrestling Darby!
With Renee Paquette waiting for AEW World Champion MJF to
arrive, she reported that AEW officials had been trying to
contact MJF all day without any success. MJF arrived and cut
off Paquette to run down all his accomplishments. Before she
could say anything, Don Callis walked up and congratulated
MJF on beating Kenny Omega at Dynasty. Callis apologized for
Andrade El Ídolo’s loss to Darby Allin. That was news to
MJF, who said he didn’t see the match because he was
preparing for his main event match against Omega. MJF tried
to cut a deal with Callis to remedy the situation. Finally,
Paquette had to yell to get MJF’s attention and explain that
with Allin’s win at Dynasty, he elected to call his shot and
face MJF for the AEW World Championship tonight! MJF was
flummoxed and then asked when the match was. Paquette said,
“Right now!”
Allin came out to a massive ovation, as he was in front of
his people, about to have the biggest match of his life. MJF
marched right down to ringside with a mic and said there was
no way he was wrestling in an impromptu match he just found
out about and called Allin an “emo freak.” MJF said because
of all the money he has, he will get his lawyer on this case
to sue everyone, including Tony Khan, AEW and Warner Bros.
Discovery! MJF also threatened to sue every fan in
attendance and ran them all down. The fans responded with a
“RING THE BELL” chant, and MJF complained of a bad back. He
wondered how it would look for the company if he wrestled
with an injury. MJF said he was doing Allin a favor by not
wrestling him. MJF said the reason the people love him is
that, like them, he’s good, not great. He’s not championship
material.
“You’re not ready to be World Ch—”
An emotional Allin grabbed the mic from MJF!
“All it takes is one night to drop the wrestling world on
its head. If I’m not ready now, I’ll never be ready! I’ve
killed myself for this company. I hung posters all around
this city. I taped posters all around this city for
tonight’s show! I climbed Mount Everest, and I hung that
flag on top of the world! The scars, the blood, everything,
I’m ready! I’ve been ready! My career started 10 miles down
the road at the Buddy Wayne Academy. And I took a deep
breath my first day of wrestling school, and I’m either
gonna make it as Darby or fail as Darby, but I’m not
changing a single thing! And tonight, I climbed to the top
of this sport, and I didn’t change one thing. RING THE
BELL!”
MJF continued to protest, but Bryan Danielson’s voice was
heard as he stood up from the commentary desk with a mic.
He told everyone to hold on. He said he just got a message
from Tony Khan, and Tony agreed with MJF that it is unfair
to wrestle when he is unprepared. And that’s why Tony is
going to give MJF plenty of time to prepare because this
World Championship match will happen in tonight’s main
event!
“And Max, if you refuse, you will be stripped of the AEW
World Championship!”
As MJF yelled at Danielson, Allin spun him around and said,
“Tonight in the main event, I’m beating your ass with a
headlock takeover!”
Allin left the ring and threw himself into the barricades in
a fit of adrenaline as MJF went to the floor to yell at
Danielson some more.
Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay Meet After Dynasty
Tony Schiavone tried to catch up with Omega while he was
being helped to the medical room after his heartbreaking
loss at Dynasty. When Schiavone asked how he was doing,
Omega responded, “Yeah, I got nothing. I’m sorry. I’m sorry,
Tony.” Omega was brought to the examination table, where
Will Ospreay was icing his own injuries from his loss to AEW
Continental Champion Jon Moxley earlier in the night.
Omega asked Ospreay if he was doing OK, and Ospreay admitted
he wasn’t. Omega welcomed him to the club and said it didn’t
go their way tonight. It wasn’t how Omega pictured it for
either of them. Omega said he feels like he let everybody
down, but Ospreay tried to pep him up. He remembered being
at the Tokyo Dome in 2017 and seeing Omega lose to Kazuchika
Okada. Omega doubted himself then, but he climbed back up
and bounced back. Omega said that was 10 years ago, and he
doesn’t feel like he has any more time left.
“But you do! You’ve got it here
you’ve got the heart of a wrestler! AEW, professional
wrestling, it’s all you from here on in, man. I believe I
know you can take it back. You’ve still got this.”
Ospreay said, “I think we still got this, mate. Listen, I am
dejected. I’m sad. I’ve been crying for the last 40-odd
minutes, mate. But my dream, my ambition, is to still be the
AEW World Champion. And I hope you haven’t given up on that
dream, either. You can do it, man.”
Omega told Ospreay to take care of himself and that he
always had Ospreay’s back. They embraced, and Ospreay told
Omega, “You’re my hero.” Ospreay left the room, leaving
Omega alone.
Omega shook his head and said out loud, “I’m your hero, huh?
Then maybe I can’t give up. Maybe there’s still a chance.
Maybe there is still a chance.”
Omega asked the cameras to leave him alone.
“Psycho Killer” Tommaso Ciampa def. Dezmond Xavier of The
Rascalz
After the events that began Dynamite, this became our
opening contest, and Ciampa went right to work stomping
Xavier to the mat and then out to the floor! He threw Xavier
into the barricade and then back in the ring. Xavier came
back with an upkick, but Ciampa stopped him with a back
elbow. Ciampa threw Xavier to the floor, and when Xavier
tried to get back up, Ciampa knocked him from the apron with
a bicycle knee! Ciampa followed Xavier out and threw him at
the steel steps, but Xavier flipped over them and got back
in the ring. Ciampa dove back in after him, and Xavier
turned things around with a dropkick! Ciampa went to the
floor, so Xavier charged up for a dive, only for Ciampa to
bail out of the way. Xavier put the brakes on to pull up
before he launched himself to the floor.
Ciampa took control of the pace and wore Xavier down for
several minutes, slowing the match considerably. Xavier
worked his way out of a tight chinlock and punched his way
free. Xavier peppered Ciampa with strikes from every angle,
followed by a stunner. Xavier punished Ciampa with a pair of
strikes in the corner before nailing a tornado DDT! Ciampa
kicked out at two! Xavier went to the top, but Ciampa moved
out of the way of a 450 attempt, and Xavier rolled through
to come back to his feet. Ciampa hit a rolling elbow and
lifted Xavier for Project Ciampa, but Xavier reversed it
into a pin attempt that nearly won the match!
Ciampa tried a knee strike, but Xavier tripped him through
the ropes and followed with a big dive! Xavier threw Ciampa
back in and went to the top for a big frog splash that
connected! Xavier covered, but Ciampa managed to keep the
match alive! Xavier hit a pair of kicks from the corner and
went to the top, but on his way down, Ciampa dropped him
with a perfectly-timed knee to the head! Ciampa grabbed
Xavier and connected with Project Ciampa on the second
attempt! Ciampa picked up Xavier’s lifeless body on his
knees to deliver the (unnecessary) bicycle knee to get the
pinfall win.
Ciampa took the microphone and pointed at Xavier, saying
that what he had just done was an example of Ciampa not
waiting. He came here to win all the gold and called out
Darby Allin and MJF to say that whoever wins, the Psycho
Killer is coming for the AEW World Title! Ciampa cheap-
shotted Xavier with another kick.
The Significance of the Headlock Takeover Between Darby and
MJF
We took a special look at Darby Allin’s journey to the
summit of Mount Everest and how we got to tonight’s AEW
World Title match. The history between the two included MJF
defeating Allin with a headlock takeover after using the
Dynamite Diamond Ring at Full Gear 2021. Tonight, they meet
again in the main event!
AEW World Tag Team Champions FTR Celebrate Their Victory
Dax Harwood said that FTR winning again has made everyone
angry. He said the fans root for underdogs because they can
relate to them, but they are just losers. Harwood said as
long as they are AEW World Tag Team Champions, Cope and Cage
will never get another shot at the titles.
Stoke took over and said he was told that everyone here was
well educated. He said the sickos think they know
everything, from wrestling to sports to politics, and
because they know everything, they should know the story of
David vs. Goliath. FTR is Goliath. He said there’s a lot of
wannabes from Brodido to Bang Bang Gang to the Young Bucks
to Adam Copeland and Christian Cage, and every time David
steps up to Goliath, he gets bitched out. Stoke said Tony
Khan will do what he does best and sign wrestlers from CMLL
and NJPW to put in this division, but the result will be the
same.
“They all will fall to the giants known as FTR!”
Cash Wheeler took his turn to speak and asked the crowd to
do them a favor, as they wanted a moment for the careers of
Cope and Cage. The fans didn’t oblige, so Wheeler moved on.
Wheeler then offered to pose for 10 seconds for those using
flash photography. FTR and Stoke posed and waved goodbye to
the fans.
TNT Championship Match: “The Jet” Kevin Knight (c) def.
Claudio Castagnoli of the Death Riders
Castagnoli charged Knight at the bell, but Knight hopped
over him and tried a sunset flip for a two-count! Knight got
backslide for another two-count! The pace quickened, and
Knight hit a big dropkick before clotheslining Castagnoli to
the floor. Knight got a head of steam, but Castagnoli
returned to the ring and laid out Knight with a lariat.
Castagnoli pounded away at Knight on the mat and took him to
the corner for a chop, but Knight fired back with chops of
his own until Castagnoli bodyslammed Knight to the mat.
Knight worked his way back from a chinlock and took
Castagoli down with an impressive arm drag from the ropes.
He sent Castagnoli to the floor and lined up for a plancha,
so Castagnoli pulled him out to the floor. Knight avoided
Castagnoli and sprang up to the apron to come back down with
a powerful lariat!
Castagnoli was able to fight his way back into control by
continuing to power Knight down, although Knight clearly had
something left in the tank as he kept looking for surprise
pin attempts. Finally, Knight hit a big strike off the ropes
and that began a strike battle between the two that saw
Knight show off his power with a huge bodyslam! Knight
followed with a standing UFO Splash for a nearfall!
Castagnoli went to the apron and knocked Knight away with a
forearm. Castagnoli went to the top, but Knight knocked him
down with a dropkick from the mat! What hops from Knight!
Knight stayed on the offensive, using a tope con hilo to
take Castagnoli down to the floor!
Back in the ring, Knight charged Castagnoli in the corner
and ate a boot. Castagnoli shifted himself to the top
turnbuckle, so Knight leaped up for a hurricanrana, which
Castagnoli blocked by trying to catch Knight. He deadlifted
Knight up from the mat and carried Knight over his shoulder
as he walked his way back up to the second rope! Castagnoli
tried to set up an avalanche Neutralizer, but Knight was
able to break his way free. Castagnoli pushed Knight back
down to the mat and nailed him with a diving uppercut in one
fluid motion. Knight kicked out in time!
Castagnoli sent Knight over the top to the apron, and when
Knight got some separation, he tried to springboard into a
clothesline, only for Castagnoli to catch him with a
backbreaker! Castagnoli tried for another Neutralizer, but
Knight backdropped out of it. Castagnoli picked up Knight
and took him for a ride on the Giant Swing. Knight blocked a
Sharpshooter, so Castagnoli catapulted him to the corner,
where Knight sprang to the top rope! He came back down with
a twisting lariat on Castagnoli. Knight went back up top and
connected with a UFO Splash to get the pinfall victory and
his first successful defense of the TNT Title!
Knight got on the mic after his win and gave props to
Castagnoli for being one of the hardest-hitting people he’s
ever been in the ring with. He said The Jet is looking good
and feeling even better as the new TNT Champion! He
mentioned losing the AEW World Trios Titles before winning
the TNT Title and knows “Speedball” Mike Bailey is beating
himself up over that. But sometimes when one door opens,
another opens. You gotta slow down to speed back up! And the
Jet is riding high, baby! Knight said he’ll be keeping a
close eye on the main event, AEW World Title match between
MJF and Darby Allin, because Jet 2 Belts sounds too fly!
Jericho Gets Beaten Down by The Demand
We took a look back at Jericho’s return to the ring at
Dynasty, which was spoiled by a loss to Ricochet. Paquette
introduced Jericho to the live crowd, and they gave him
another proper serenade of “Judas.” Jericho was fired up, as
the crowd continued to chant for him, as Paquette tried to
start the interview. Paquette asked how it felt to be back
in the ring after Ricochet said Jericho would be rusty.
Jericho said it was one of his favorite matches in a long
time, but he thinks he lost not because he was rusty, but
because he was outnumbered 3-on-1.
As Jericho started to congratulate Ricochet, the music of
The Demand played, and Ricochet and GOA appeared on the top
of the ramp. As Ricochet tried to talk over “BALD” chants,
he said he still respects Jericho, but he had to take
Jericho out with his own move, the Lionsault, which he has
renamed the Ricosault. Ricochet said Jericho did pretty
well, but it wasn't enough to overcome the rise of Ricochet.
He told Jericho to quit while he’s ahead, and while we’ve
seen Jericho reinvent himself, why doesn’t he be the guy who
gets his ass beat by The Demand every week! Ricochet said,
on second thought, why doesn’t Jericho stick around? This
could be the best run of his entire career.
Jericho took the mic from Paquette and said the Ricosault
was a brutal name. Jericho kept sneaking bald references and
insults into his challenge to Ricochet to leave Bishop Kaun
and Toa Liona behind and come down to face him. Jericho
pushed Ricochet until Ricochet told GOA to stay back, no
matter what happens. Ricochet got in the ring and walked
right into a hip toss from Jericho. Jericho followed with a
clothesline and tried to stomp Ricochet in the corner, but
Ricochet called for Kaun and Liona, and they hit the ring.
All three beat Jericho down until he attempted to fight
back, but they did it again and left him in a heap on the
mat. GOA picked up Jericho and put him back down with Open
the Gates! Ricochet decided that wasn’t enough and added
insult to injury with a Ricosault!
Takeshita Blows off Callis and Okada after Dynasty
We went back to last Sunday after Dynasty, when Renee
Paquette caught up with Don Callis and AEW International
Champion Kazuchika Okada to ask what happened in the loss to
the Young Bucks. Callis said it was a 2-on-1 situation, just
as Takeshita walked by, but Callis had to call him back.
Callis asked what happened, and Takeshita mockingly said to
Okada, “It was an accident, oops. I’m so sorry.” Takeshita
walked away as Callis tried to calm down Okada.
Non-Title Match: Will Ospreay def. CMLL World Heavyweight
Champion Hechicero of the Don Callis Family
Ospreay made his way down the aisle to huge cheers, but was
noticeably a little slower than normal after his match with
Jon Moxley at Dynasty. Don Callis, complete with a pink Kyle
Fletcher armband, did his usual broken-Spanish ring
introduction for Hechicero and then joined the commentary
desk.
Hechicero worked Ospreay to the ropes at the bell and then
tripped Ospreay to the mat. Hechicero tried to look for a
leg submission, but Ospreay took him down with a
headscissors. Hechicero kicked Ospreay in the arm to get
some distance, and Ospreay was clearly bothered by the shot,
as it was on the shoulder covered by KT tape. Hechicero did
everything he could to keep Ospreay on the mat despite
Ospreay trying to break free. Ospreay did break free for a
moment, only for Hechicero to boot him right in the head!
Hechicero stayed on Ospreay with a chop, but Ospreay came
back with a headscissors to send Hechicero to the floor.
Ospreay fired up the crowd and launched himself over the top
rope onto Hechicero with a crossbody!
Ospreay spotted Marina Shafir watching from the barricade,
as he remained on the offensive until Hechicero captured
Ospreay in El Conjuro! Hechicero hit a step-up knee to
Ospreay’s neck in the corner and covered Ospreay for a two-
count. Hechicero booted Ospreay in the face and followed
with a spinebuster! He cranked Ospreay’s neck with nasty leg
twists and then sent Ospreay crashing to the floor with a
sliding dropkick. Hechicero threw Ospreay back in and locked
him in a surfboard that he punctuated with a handful of
Ospreay’s hair. Finally, Ospreay took Hechiero down with a
desperation handspring corkscrew kick and a springboard
elbow strike for a two-count. Ospreay connected on a
Standing Sky Twister for another near-fall!
Ospreay was battling through the pain and was baited by
Hechicero into a chop exchange, with Hechicero lowering the
straps to a huge reaction! However, Hechicero blocked the
chop and avoided the big strikes, only for Ospreay to come
off the ropes with an enzuigiri. Ospreay called for the
Hidden Blade, but Hechicero reversed it into a Guillotine
Tijeras! Hechicero covered Ospreay, but Ospreay put his foot
on the rope to break the count. That’s quite a rarity from
Ospreay, which showed just how beat up he is from the match
with Moxley and this fight with Hechicero. Callis came off
commentary to bark orders at Hechicero, who continued to
pound away on Ospreay’s neck as referee Rick Knox tried to
push him away so the doctor could check on Ospreay.
Hechicero finally had enough and continued the attack on
Ospreay with a kick to the head. Hechicero pulled Ospreay to
the floor and dropped him neck-first on the barricade. On
commentary, Bryan Danielson said if Ospreay can’t continue,
they should stop the match instead of letting the doctor
repeatedly check on him. Hechicero hit a running boot to
Ospreay and stayed on him in the ring with a leg lock around
Ospreay’s neck! Hechicero transitioned it into an armbar,
and Ospreay finally broke the hold by getting his feet on
the ropes.
Hechicero went to the apron and pulled Ospreay’s neck back
over the ropes until the referee broke it up. Ospreay tried
to charge back at Hechicero, but Hechicero was ready for it
and sent Ospreay to the floor. Hechicero skied over the top
rope with a massive dive that took Ospreay down. Back in the
ring, Ospreay stumbled to his feet, and Hechicero came off
the top with an elbow to Ospreay’s neck! Ospreay managed to
kick out a two! Ospreay reversed a suplex into a Stundog
Millionaire, as he tried to shake feeling back into his arm.
Ospreay ran into a boot in the corner, but as Hechicero went
to the second rope, Ospreay trapped his neck in the
turnbuckles!
Ospreay hit the Cheeky Nandos kick and lifted Hechicero off
the turnbuckles for a Storm Breaker, but he couldn’t hold
him up! Hechicero rolled Ospreay into a small package for
another near-fall. Ospreay got a two-count on a backslide.
Ospreay connected with a hook kick and tried for an
OsCutter, but Hechicero blocked it and used a head-spinning
transition to get into an armbar! Hechicero switched into a
triangle, and Ospreay somehow powered up to his feet for a
one-armed Styles Clash! Ospreay lined up and connected on a
Hidden Blade to Hechicero for the pinfall victory! On
commentary, Callis said it was time to go to “Plan B.”
While Ospreay was standing on the second turnbuckle staring
at Shafir still in the crowd, he was attacked from behind by
a former teammate and friend, Mark Davis of the Don Callis
Family! Davis dropped Ospreay on his neck with Close Your
Eyes and Count to Three!
AEW Women’s World Champion Thekla vs. Alex Windsor on
Collision
As Renee Paquette tried to continue things from the top of
the ramp, Thekla interrupted her and said she looks good
tonight, but no one paid to see her flap her lips when The
Toxic Spider is in the house. She reviewed how she beat
Jamie Hayter at Dynasty to keep the AEW Women’s World Title
and said this whole industry was filled with “dumb bitches.”
Alex Windsor showed up and said she wasn’t going to let
Thekla just come out here and say she beat Jamie Hayter.
Windsor said she should beat the piss out of Thekla right
now! Thekla responded by saying that when she said “dumb
bitches,” Windsor magically appeared. Thekla said, “Don’t
blame me because your best friend and your fiancé lost.”
Windsor reminded Thekla that she’s not the only champion
around here because Windsor is the NJPW Women’s Strong
Champion! She said that in Japan, Thekla is known as the one
who was stupid enough to get fired. Thekla said she wasn’t
fired in Japan, but quickly admitted she actually was. She
said she only got fired because they couldn’t handle Thekla.
Windsor can’t handle Thekla. No one can!
Windsor got in the ring and said she can handle Thekla right
now. Thekla said no, so Windsor challenged her to put the
AEW Women’s World Championship on the line tomorrow on
Collision! Thekla agreed, but back in the ring, Skye Blue
and Julia Hart tried to attack Windsor! She quickly fought
them off and went into the crowd to taunt Thekla!
Jon Moxley Wants Nick Wayne to Surprise Him on Collision
AEW Continental Champion Jon Moxley was with Daniel Garcia
and Wheeler Yuta. Moxley said he likes to be surprised, and
someone like Will Ospreay, whom he’s studied and known for a
long time, never surprises him. Marina Shafir showed up, and
Moxley asked her how Ospreay looked. She simply said,
“Rough.”
Moxley said maybe he’s lucky that he sees how the dominoes
fall, or maybe he just pays more attention than everyone
else. Ospreay showed his cards, so don’t blame Moxley.
Moxley doesn’t take pleasure in the suffering of others,
although there can be beauty in that. He prefers light over
darkness, but you don’t get one without the other. Moxley
asked Garcia about who he was facing tomorrow night on
Collision. Garcia told him it was Nick Wayne.
Moxley said it was the biggest night of Wayne’s life in a
Continental Championship Eliminator, but Moxley admitted he
didn’t know much about Wayne at all.
“So Nick, please surprise me. And this is Continental Rules.
This is adult stuff for grown-ups, so leave your mom in the
back, please.”
TBS Championship Match: Willow Nightingale (c) def. Kamille
Renee Paquette brought us up to speed on the return of
Kamille, who has also been busy being a part of American
Gladiators, and noted that Kamille isn’t considering this a
comeback because we’ve never seen her like this before.
Nightingale made her way to the ring and was clearly still
injured from Kamille’s attacks at Dynasty. Nightingale went
after Kamille at the bell and backed her right into the
corner with aggressive shots. She continued beating Kamille
into every corner before finally bouncing Kamille off the
turnbuckles until she stumbled to the mat. Kamille came back
with a kick to Nightingale and focused on the shoulder with
an arm wringer. Nightingale reversed an attack in the corner
with 10 clotheslines, but Kamille kicked Nightingale in the
shoulder to turn things right back around. Kamille
controlled Nightingale’s arm until she ran into a boot from
Nightingale. Kamille wrenched Nightingale’s injured arm over
the ropes, so Nightingale fought back with chops. Kamille
took another shot at the arm and wrenched it into the mat.
Kamille continued to work over the arm for several minutes,
as Nightingale struggled to mount any offense. Finally,
Nightingale avoided a pump kick and hit a clothesline.
Kamille hit one of her own, but Nightingale came back and
took her down with a stiff clothesline! Nightingale POUNCED
Kamille across the ring and into the corner! Nightingale
charged up for the cannonball and smashed Kamille into the
corner. Nightingale covered, but Kamille kicked out at two!
Nightingale was basically fighting with one arm, so she
wasn’t able to lift Kamille for the Babe with the Powerbomb.
Kamille slammed Nightingale head to the mat and followed
with a leaping leg lariat, but Nightingale managed to kick
out in time. Kamille stomped on the bad arm and trapped
Nightingale in a cross armbreaker. Nightingale escaped by
rolling up Kamille for a nearfall. Kamille used another arm
whip to send Nightingale back to the map. Kamille lifted
Nightingale for a torture rack, but Nightingale pushed
Kamille to the corner and caught her in a deep backslide to
sneak out the three count and successful defense of the TBS
Championship!
Hikaru Shida and Kris Statlander Will Team Up Again on
Collision
Shida said it was a great victory for their great friend
Willow Nightingale, although her tone seemed less than
sincere. Last week on Collision, Shida said she and
Statlander made a great team as two former AEW Women’s World
Champions. Shida said they are going to team up again
tomorrow night on Collision! Shida walked away, leaving
Statlander confused by the whole thing.
Sting is Here to Support Darby Allin!
First, we saw AEW World Champion MJF making his way toward
the arena for the main event. Then, elsewhere, Renee
Paquette caught up with Allin to get his final thoughts.
Allin stopped in his tracks because STING was in the
building! Allin asked Sting if he had anything for him.
Sting responded, “No! You already know what to do, now get
out there and do it!” Allin pounded Sting’s fist and said,
“It’s showtime.” Sting said, “No! It’s not showtime. It’s
your time! You hear me? It’s your time. Go take it.”
We could hear the crowd chanting for Allin, and he continued
out to the arena while Sting continued to shout out words of
encouragement!
AEW World Championship Match: Darby Allin def. MJF (c)
Allin made his way to the ring first, clearly still
emotional about the gravity of the evening. A confident MJF
seemed ready to go after delaying the match and even stuck
the AEW World Title in Allin’s face before Justin Roberts
even began the championship introductions. The crowd broke
out in another “DARBY” chant after he was announced from
Seattle, Washington!
Before the bell even rang, the crowd chanted for Darby to
beat up MJF in quite a descriptive way. MJF called a
timeout, which is not actually a thing in professional
wrestling, because he hadn’t given his Dynamite Diamond Ring
to referee Aubrey Edwards. She brought it over to the
corner, which gave MJF the chance to kick Allin low out of
her vision! MJF called for a headlock takeover and grabbed
Allin’s head, but he sent MJF into the ropes, where he
nearly took out the referee! With the referee looking away,
Allin hit MJF with a low blow of his own! Allin picked MJF
for the Scorpion Death Drop and connected! Allin ran up to
the top rope and nailed a Coffin Drop! He ran to the
opposite corner for another Coffin Drop and hit that, too!
Allin went to a third corner and hit a third Coffin Drop.
But that wasn’t enough! Allin went to the final corner and
hit a fourth Coffin Drop! Allin took MJF down with a
headlock takeover and pinned him to win the match! DARBY
ALLIN IS THE NEW AEW WORLD CHAMPION!
The locker room spilled out to celebrate with Allin, as
confetti rained down and pyro went off to punctuate the
historic moment! Finally, Sting came down the ramp and fired
up the crowd even more before coming into the ring.
AEW SpringBreakThru continues on a special edition of AEW
Collision, Thursday at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT on TNT and HBO
Max from right back here in Everett, Washington!
