Ahead of PROGRESS Wrestling: Chapter 183 – 100 Volts at the
Electric Ballroom in Camden on Monday, August 25th,
PWMania.com’s Lee Tarrier sat down with Man Like Dereiss for
an exclusive interview.
Dereiss will challenge Luke Jacobs for the PROGRESS World
Championship in a TLC Match, and he spoke candidly about his
journey, why he’s ready for the high-risk environment, and
how the fans have fueled his rise. You can read the entire
interview by clicking here.
Here are some highlights:
On the TLC stipulation raising the stakes:
"The stakes went way up. Tables, ladders, chairs – it’s
dangerous, no doubt. But it shows how far I’m willing to go
to win the PROGRESS World Championship. I’ve wrestled
everywhere – America, Europe, Japan, Mexico – and I’ve been
in plenty of ladder matches, so TLC won’t be new for me.
That’s an advantage I don’t think Luke has. It’s all
building to a massive weekend. This feels like the start of
a huge future for me in PROGRESS."
On his global experience giving him an edge:
"I’ve wrestled lots of different wrestlers – Lucha,
Japanese, British, Mexican, Canadian, European – and I’ve
picked something up from all of them. It’s given me a unique
style that blends different influences, and that’s going to
help me in a match like this. I’ve wrestled Shelton Benjamin
in PROGRESS, I’ve competed in GCW monthly, I’ve even been on
TNA programming. Every match, every country, every style —
it’s prepared me for this moment."
On the Camden fans and his iconic entrance:
"The support has built show by show. Fans have stuck with me
through it, and now it feels like they’re just as ready for
this as I am. Every time I walk out to ‘Freed From Desire’,
it feels like a party – easily one of the best crowds I’ve
ever wrestled in front of. Camden has become my stage, the
Ballroom my home. That connection is powerful, and I truly
believe it can be the difference-maker in a match like
this."
Dereiss also discussed his preparation, past challenges, and
why he believes this is the defining moment of his career.
