Posted on 10/17/120 by Bob Magee

Michael Cole and Corey Graves opened up SmackDown from
ringside.

The entire roster was standing on the stage, including Seth
Rollins, Braun Strowman, The New Day, Daniel Bryan, Kevin
Owens, and more.

Triple H and Stephanie McMahon were in the ring. McMahon
welcomed everyone to the season premiere of SmackDown.
Triple H noted there is something for everyone tonight. They
previewed the line-up, including the main event. McMahon
noted Daniel Bryan makes his first appearance in the
Thunderdome. The fans on the screens all did the Yes Chant,
which was pretty cool looking.

They talked about the members of the roster and introduced
the Street Profits. Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode jumped
the Street Profits, and the roster broke out into a giant
brawl.

Owens hit a massive cannonball off the apron. Montez Ford
hit a huge dive on the other side of the ring onto Ziggler
and Roode.

Suddenly, Lars Sullivan music hit, and he made his way to
the ring. Everyone stopped fighting in the ring. Sullivan
destroyed the Street Profits at ringside. Kalisto attempted
a suicide dive, but Sullivan caught him and slammed him
against the barricade.

Sullivan jumped in the ring, but Sami Zayn ran off. Apollo
Crews and Shorty G jumped Sullivan, but he overpowered them.
He then destroyed both guys. Jeff Hardy jumped Sullivan from
behind and sent him to the floor.

This was a fine opening segment. It was all about making
Sullivan seem like a monster.

They showed Jeff Jarrett in the crowd on one of the screens.
He joins the Hell in a Cell kick-off show.

Lars Sullivan defeated Jeff Hardy

There was a fine match. They kept it short, and was a
showcase for Sullivan.

Hardy was briefly in control early until he injured his
knee. Sulivan took over and was firmly in control. He hit a
sliding clothesline for a near fall but missed a diving
headbutt. Hardy fired up and made a comeback but couldn't
knock Sulivan off his feet. Sullivan regained control, but
Hardy hit whisper in the wind for a one count.

Sullivan shoved Hardy to the floor. Hardy jumped off the
ring steps, but Sullivan caught him and slammed him on the
apron.

Hardy hit the Twist of Fate and climbed to the top for the
Swanton Bomb, but Sullivan jumped up to his feet. Hardy was
shocked that Sullivan got back up. Sullivan grabbed Hardy
and hit the Freak Accident for the win.

They showed Jarret again after the match.

They showed an excellent video package on Bianca Belair. She
makes her SmackDown debut soon.

New Day's Farewell

The New Day made their way down to the ring. Woods pointed
out that Big E is staying on SmackDown, but they're going to
Raw. Kingston became emotional as he started talking about
their time together as a team.

They talked about their highlights together, including
Kingston winning the WWE Championship at WrestleMania. Woods
also became emotional as he spoke about the last six years
of his life being the best.

Kingston talked about considering giving it all up in 2012.
Woods and Big E approached him in the back with the idea
about the New Day. Kingston cried as he talked about them
being his best friends.

Woods changed up the mood and started a New Day Rocks chant.

This was an awesome segment. All three came across genuine
as they became emotional. The segment would have probably
done very well in front of a live crowd.

In the back, Sheamus, Cesaro, and Shinsuke Nakamura were
getting ready for their match. They're happy to face New Day
in their final match and get revenge.

The New Day defeated Sheamus, Cesaro & Shinsuke Nakamura

This was a good match. They all worked hard in a fast-paced
match.

The faces were firmly in control early. Kingston leaped over
Big E and hit a senton on Cesaro. Woods then lifted Big E
and dropped him on Cesaro for a near fall.

The heels took over and isolated Woods. Sheamus and Cesaro
made references to their days as The Bar. Woods fought back
and hit a sliding knee. Big E power bombed Woods on Sheamus,
and Kingston hit a splash for a near fall.

The heels regained control and isolated Kingston on their
side of the ring. Kingston tried fighting back, but Cesaro
dragged him back to their corner. Kingston ended up on the
corner, but Sheamus pulled him off.

Back from the break, the heels were still in control.
Kingston hit the SOS on Sheamus, and Big E got the hot tag.
He ran wild on Cesaro and hit a big splash. He attempted the
Big Ending, but Cesaro countered with a gut-wrench suplex.

Nakamura hit a sliding German suplex on Woods to regain
control of the match. Kingston got the tag and hit a dive
onto Cesaro and Nakamura. Sheamus took out Big E, but
Kingston rocked Sheamus with a kick to the face.

Kingston jumped off the top, but Nakamura caught him with a
knee. Cesaro did the giant swing on Kingston and Nakamura
with the Kinshasa. Sheamus then hit White Noise on Kingston
for a near fall.

Sheamus went shoulder-first into the ring post, and Kingston
made a comeback. New Day then hit the Midnight Hour for the
win.

After the match, Woods, Big E, and Kingston hugged in the
ring. They were emotional as they thanked each other.

In the back, Kayla Braxton tried to interview Otis, but Sami
Zayn interrupted. He pointed out that Tucker and Mandy Rose
both went to Raw. He mocked Otis. Otis heard enough and
pushed him to the ground.

Daniel Bryan Promo

Daniel Bryan made his way to the ring. They showed Brie
Bella on the screen in the crowd. Bryan is excited to be in
the Thunderdome, which he watched on TV. He admits that he
loved his time at home and waved at Brie and his daughter.

Bryan talked about the Street Profits' debut and the main
event. He praised new roster members Bianca Belair and The
Riot Squad. He's excited to get in the ring with Kevin
Owens, Aleister Black, and Apollo Crews.

Seth Rollins music hit, and he made his way to the ring. He
noted Bryan talked about all of the talented people but
didn't mention him. He asked Bryan which part of history he
is on because Bryan is either with him or against him.

Bryan made fun of Rollins. He said Rollins's vision is self-
centered and kind of dumb. Rollins said it wasn't dumb.
Bryan repeated that Rollins' vision is dumb, like wearing a
sports coat without a shirt, which Rollins was wearing.

Rollins attacked Bryan and hit him with the microphone.
Bryan made a comeback and attempted the Yes Kicks. Rollins
rolled out of the ring to leave, but Rey and Dominik
Mysterio stopped him. Rollins ran back to the ring, and
Bryan left him alone with The Mysterio family.

Rey and Dominik cornered Rollins. Murphy's music hit, and he
ran down. He stood next to Rollins. Suddenly, Murphy
attacked Rollins and Rollins ran off.

Murphy extended his hand to Rey and Dominik, but they just
looked at him and walked off. Michael Cole and Corey Graves
noted the Mysterio family can't trust Murphy because of
everything he did to them.

SmackDown Tag Team Champions Street Profits defeated Dolph
Ziggler & Robert Roode

They showed Ric Flair on the screens in the crowd before the
match.

This wasn't much of a match and ended with a lame DQ finish.

Angelo Dawkins and Dolph Ziggler started. Dawkins missed a
spinning splash in the corner, which allowed Ziggler to make
the tag. Roode took over and knocked Montez Ford off the
apron.

Ziggler scored a near fall, but Ford broke up the pin
attempt. Ford snapped, but the heels overpowered him and
beat him down. The referee then called for the
disqualification out of nowhere. They tossed Ford to the
floor and hit a spinebuster on Dawkins.

Ford recovered and hit a huge flying cross body onto the
heels.

Adam Pearce hosted the contract signing. Sasha Banks and
Bayley both made their entrances and sat across from each
other at a table. Pearce talked about their bitter feud. He
gave the contract to Banks to sign first.

Banks signed and noted she's been waiting a long time for
this. Bayley grabbed the contract and stated she'd been
champion for over a year. She said Banks was going to turn
on her, but Bayley did it first.

Banks noted she wouldn't do that to her friend. She pointed
out that she called Bayley when she got left behind in NXT.
Banks helped Bayley hold onto the title for over a year, but
Bayley tried to end her career. Banks will get her revenge
at Hell in a Cell because her name is bigger than Bayley's
championship.

Banks promised to leave Hell in a Cell with the title. Banks
got in Bayley's face. Bayley left the ring without signing
the contract. Banks called her a coward, but Bayley just
walked off.

This was a typical WWE contract signing but Banks and Bayley
were good in this segment.

Various celebrities congratulated SmackDown for one year on
FOX, including Ken Jeong, Joel McHale, and George Kittle.

They showed a clip of Steve Austin on the Big Noon Show
tomorrow.

Universal Champion Roman Reigns (w/Paul Heyman) defeated
Braun Strowman to retain the title

Reigns and Strowman had a good match, and both worked hard.
The post-match angle involving Jey Uso was well done. Uso
and Reigns are excellent in their roles.

Micahel Cole and Corey Graves noted if Strowman wins, he
takes the Universal Championship with him to Raw. They're
both worried that SmackDown won't have a title if Strowman
wins.

They did the special ring introductions for the match. They
showed Mark Henry and Rob Stone on the screens in the crowd.
Goldberg was also on the screen, but they didn't call
attention to it. Keith Lee appeared to be next to him but
was never mentioned at all.

Jey Uso was watching the match backstage.

Reigns jumped started the match and hit the Superman punch,
which sent Strowman to the floor. Reigns backed Strowman
into the corner and continued to dominate. Strowman made a
brief comeback, but Reigns hit a big boot for a near fall.

Reigns sent Strowman back to the floor and slammed him on
the announce table. Strowman fought back and tossed Reigns
over the announce table. Strowman then hit a running
shoulder tackle, which sent Reigns over the barricade.

Back from the break, they did a close up of Goldberg
watching the match this time and pointed him out.

Strowman fired up and hit a chokeslam for a near fall. When
Reigns kicked out, he gave Strowman a low blow. Reigns then
hit the spear for a near fall. Reigns couldn't believe that
Strowman kicked out.

The finish came when Reigns attempted a second spear, but
Strowman countered with a power slam. Reigns slipped out the
back and locked on a guillotine submission for the win.

After the match, Jey Uso walked out and stood on top of the
ramp. In the ring, Reigns looked at Uso and hit another
spear on Strowman.

Uso slowly walked towards the ring, but Reigns grabbed a
chair. Uso stood at ringside. Reigns then viciously beat
down Strowman with the chair. He told Uso that he doesn't
want to do that to him, but he will. Reigns wants to give
him a second chance. Referees tried to stop him, but Reigns
kept attacking Strowman.

Uso got in the ring. Reigns told Uso that he loves him and
is just trying to help him. Reigns dropped the chair at
Uso's feet and turned around. Uso picked up the chair and
teased hitting Reigns but dropped it. Reigns smiled. Uso
snapped and attacked Reigns with the chair. The officials
stopped Uso and Reigns gave him a low blow.

Reigns looked down at Uso and told him he gave him a second
chance. Now he has to turn his back on him.
