What a fantastic start to the weekend with AEW Grand Slam
Australia from Sydney on TNT and streaming on HBO Max!
Between homecomings, four title matches, a shaved head and
so much more, it was a jam-packed night in front of our
great fans Down Under!
AEW World Champion MJF somehow survived everything thrown at
him by Brody King and came away with yet another successful
defense of the AEW World Championship. However, MJF’s
celebration was interrupted by “Hangman” Adam Page, who
defeated Andrade El Ídolo earlier in the night to earn an
AEW World Title shot at Revolution. Page signed the contract
in front of MJF to make it official, and we now have our
next AEW World Title match!
TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher may have indeed earned his hero’s
welcome in his hometown of Sydney, following a wild ladder
match with Mark Briscoe that saw Fletcher retain his
recently won TNT Title in the seventh match of their
rivalry, which Fletcher took with a 4-3 advantage. Harley
Cameron also made a victorious return to her home country by
earning the pinfall for her and Willow Nightingale, as The
Babes of Wrath retained their AEW Women’s World Tag Team
Titles against Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford. However,
MegaBad reasserted their dominance with the introduction of
Lena Kross, who helped decimate Cameron and Nightingale
after the match.
In the AEW Continental Championship match, Jon Moxley was
not able to avenge his previous defeat to “The Alpha”
Konosuke Takeshita in the Continental Classic, as the two
fought to a 20-minute draw. So while Moxley walked away with
the AEW Continental Title, he was taken to the limit for the
first time as champion.
To the delight of most and the dismay of the Death Riders,
Wheeler Yuta was pinned by Toni Storm in the Mixed Tornado
Tag Hair Match, which meant he had to have his head shaved
by Storm and Orange Cassidy! Despite some resistance, Yuta’s
new look was executed with some creative liberties by Storm
and Cassidy, who may or may not have a future in the salon
business.

AEW Grand Slam Australia Recap Tonight for Sydney
AEW Continental Championship Match: Jon Moxley (c) and “The
Alpha” Konosuke Takeshita Fight to a 20-Minute Time Limit
Draw
We got the night off to a raucous start, as Moxley made his
solo entrance through the crowd with a smirk he couldn’t
hide. That was the look of a man at home in the arena of
battle against his most desirable opponent. And that brought
out Takeshita, who didn’t have Don Callis on commentary, as
per usual. There were chants for both men at the bell.
Takeshita caught Mox with a boot in the opening seconds and
immediately went for Raging Fire. Still, Moxley escaped and
tried a Death Rider, which Takeshita got out of to end the
exchange in a stalemate. Moxley and Takeshita grappled with
both men looking for submissions until they came eye to eye,
with Takeshita letting Moxley get to his feet. They
continued to grapple, as Moxley went back to his work on the
left arm of Takeshita, but Takeshita was too shifty and
wound up controlling Mox’s arm instead. That was enough for
Moxley to switch the tone with a big chop to break free from
Takeshita. Takeshita answered right back with one of his
own, and the fight was on!
They exchanged explosive chops until Moxley goaded Takeshita
into a pattern and kicked him in the gut. He tried a
piledriver, but Takeshita backdropped out of it. Takeshita
missed a flying clothesline that sent him to the floor, so
Moxley charged through the ropes with a dive that landed on
the head and shoulder of Takeshita before Moxley himself
crashed to the floor and into the guardrail! Moxley took a
walk to compose himself and began assaulting Takeshita
around the ringside area with a few trips into the barriers.
Takeshita finally turned things around when he reversed
Moxley into the barriers and followed with a boot to the
face! Takeshita rolled in the ring to break the count and
brought Mox back in, but Moxley stopped him with a kick and
a piledriver!
Moxley worked Takeshita over in the corner, but Takeshita
fought his way out until Moxley cut him off with a poke to
the eye. Moxley threw him to the outside and dropkicked
Takeshita to the floor! Moxley sensed he regained control
and went to work grinding Takeshita down on the mat.
Takeshita fought his way back to his feet and nailed a boot
and a running strike to send Moxley to the corner. Takeshita
crushed Mox with a kick in the corner, followed by a Blue
Thunder Bomb to get a near-fall. Back in the corner, Moxley
mounted Takeshita and rained down punches, but he celebrated
too early and Takeshita powerbombed him out of the corner!
Moxley kicked out again! They exchanged strikes until Moxley
nailed a cutter! Takeshita rolled to the apron, so Moxley
followed and stomped his head into the mat! Takeshita fell
to the outside and just beat the count, only for Moxley to
nail another stomp! Takeshita kicked out! FIVE MINUTES
REMAINING!
Moxley tried a cross-arm breaker, but Takeshita made it to
the ropes. They fought back to their feet with Takeshita
asking for more! Takeshita hit a pair of exploder suplexes
followed by a running knee to Mox’s face! Moxley kicked out
at two! Takeshita hit another exploder for another near-
fall. Moxley avoided another knee, and the two went back and
forth with sleeper reversals until Moxley hit the Death
Rider! Takeshita kicked out! With a minute remaining, Moxley
and Takeshita connected with headbutts until they collapsed
into opposite corners. 30 SECONDS REMAINING!
That announcement brought both men and the entire crowd to
their feet! What a fight! What an atmosphere! Moxley
exploded out of the corner with a lariat! TAKESHITA KICKED
OUT AT ONE! Takeshita came back with a rolling elbow to
Moxley’s head! MOXLEY KICKED OUT AT ONE!
Takeshita nailed a running knee to the back of Moxley’s
head. Mox kicked out in the nick of time! The bell rang. The
20-minute time limit expired. This match is a draw! Moxley
retains the AEW Continental Championship. After the match,
he was visibly angry with the result, and after coming face-
to-face with Takeshita, the two came to blows, and Takeshita
put Moxley down with the Raging Fire!
We looked at the history of Fletcher and Briscoe that
brought us to this seventh match in their storied rivalry
tonight.
How Thekla became the NEW AEW Women’s World Champion
Before the next match, we went back to this week’s Dynamite
main event to see the epic strap match between Kris
Statlander and Thekla. Thekla beat the champion with some
timely help from Sisters of Sin, Skye Blue and Julia Hart,
to win the AEW Women’s World Title, less than nine months
since her debut! In post-match comments, Thekla explained
how she did it and reveled in her victory while a blood-
covered Statlander delivered an ominous message, “Karma
isn’t a bitch. It’s a Cosmic Killer.”
AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship Match: The Babes of
Wrath (Harley Cameron and TBS Champion Willow Nightingale)
def. MegaBad (“Megasus” Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford)
It was time for our second championship bout of the evening,
featuring Australia’s own Harley Cameron! And appropriately
enough, Cameron began the match for The Babes of Wrath,
facing off against Bayne. Cameron ran at Bayne at the bell
and jumped into her arms, so Bayne threw her into the
corner. Cameron turned things around with kicks, so Ford
attacked her from behind. Nightingale came in to even the
side and threw Ford into the opposite corner. The Babes
mounted MegaBad for a round of punches on each side, with
Nightingale adding a lariat to Ford. Nightingale lifted
Cameron for an assisted splash, but Ford got the knees up,
and Bayne took down Nightingale from behind.
Bayne and Ford made quick tags while punishing Cameron in
the corner until Cameron elbowed her way out and ran across
to tag Nightingale. She met Bayne in the middle, but won the
power battle with a German suplex that sent Bayne to the
outside. Ford tried to attack, but Nightingale cut her off
and hit another suplex. Nightingale went to the apron and
took out both members of MegaBad with a cannonball on the
floor. She stacked MegaBad in the corner for a lariat and
then took both down with a dropkick from the second rope!
That advantage didn’t last for long, and Nightingale found
herself in trouble for an extended period with no way to
make a tag to Cameron. Bayne slammed Nightingale, and Ford
followed with a moonsault off Bayne’s back! Nightingale
kicked out at two! Nightingale ate a big boot and hit a
desperation clothesline, which allowed her to tag Cameron as
Bayne tagged Ford. Cameron put Ford down with a slingblade
and a flurry of punches. She followed with a headscissors on
Bayne and then went to the top rope. Cameron flew off the
top with a crossbody! MegaBad turned things around with a
big boot into a near-fall. Ford went to the top while Bayne
put Cameron on her shoulders for the Doomsday Device, but
Nightingale got on the apron to stop Ford. Ford kicked her
to the floor and followed with a moonsault from the
turnbuckles! Cameron rolled up Bayne for a two-count!
Cameron reversed Bayne out of the corner and locked in a
single-leg crab, but Ford was there to break it up.
Nightingale put Ford on the mat with a thundering overhand
shot, but was immediately put down by Bayne. Cameron kicked
Bayne in the gut and nailed an Australian Destroyer!
Everyone is down!
All four fought back to their feet until Nightingale shoved
Bayne into Ford. The Babes hit a pump kick/Russian leg sweep
combo, followed by a backpack senton that earned a two-
count. Cameron tagged back in, as Nightingale connected on a
Death Valley driver. As Cameron went to the top, Ford low-
bridged a running Nightingale out of the ring. Cameron
missed a swanton, which allowed Bayne to tag Ford. Ford
matrixed out of the way of Cameron’s running clothesline,
which gave Bayne the chance to hit a flying clothesline out
of the corner. She quickly followed with a dive to the
outside that sent Nightingale into the announce desk. Back
in the ring, Ford missed a moonsault from the top, and
Cameron took advantage with a backslide to get the pinfall!
The Babes of Wrath retain the AEW Women’s World Tag Team
Championships!
As Nightingale and Cameron celebrated, Lena Kross, a
standout Australian wrestler and past opponent of Kris
Statlander on Collision, appeared behind them! Kross spun
Cameron around and dropped her with a fireman’s carry cutter
as Bayne speared Nightingale! Kross has aligned herself with
MegaBad! Ford and Bayne grabbed the AEW Women’s World Tag
Team Championships, and Bayne also picked up Nightingale’s
TBS Championship. They posed with all the gold!
The Demand Send a Message to “Jungle” Jack Perry
Bishop Kaun, Toa Liona and AEW National Champion Ricochet
ran down how they took care of Luchasaurus and “Jungle” Jack
Perry, as Ricochet begged Perry to give up after Ricochet
beat him twice. Ricochet reminded us he’s from Las Vegas, so
he angrily told Perry, “You have to know when to hold 'em,
and know when to fold 'em!”
Winner Gets AEW World Title Match at Revolution: AEW World
Trios Champion “Hangman” Adam Page def. Andrade El Ídolo of
the Don Callis Family
Callis was out with Andrade and joined the commentary desk,
but the Sydney crowd shared their distaste for Callis.
Andrade went outside to shield Callis’ ears and hugged him
before returning to the ring. Andrade posed on Page after a
shoulder block, so Page came right back at him with chops.
Andrade returned the shots until Page hit a low dropkick and
tried the Buckshot Lariat, but Andrade was ready with a boot
and went for The DM. Page escaped and sent Andrade to the
ropes, where he stayed and posed. Page knocked him to the
floor with a boot to the face and followed up by launching
himself over the top rope onto Andrade! Andrade fought back
and bounced Page’s head off the apron. He got distracted by
yet another adoring fan to get a selfie, but Page attacked!
Page offered to take a selfie with the same woman, and she
obliged! She wanted to kiss him, but he graciously declined,
as he is a married man.
Page chopped Andrade back into the ring, but Andrade turned
it back around for a brief moment until Page hit a fallaway
slam and a senton for a near-fall. Page put Andrade on the
top turnbuckle and chopped him, but when he went up to meet
him, Andrade stopped a suplex with a headbutt. He tried to
sunset flip bomb Page, but Page blocked and punched Andrade
away. Page tried a moonsault and landed on his feet. He
tried to pull Andrade into a tombstone, but Andrade escaped.
Page followed him with a big boot in the corner! Page tried
to hit a rebound lariat from the second rope, only for
Andrade to meet him there and turn it into a Spanish fly!
Page kicked out just in time!
After Andrade worked Page down on the mat, he got a little
too cocky by slapping Page. That brought Page to his feet,
where he won control with forearms. Andrade came back with a
big boot, but Page blocked a second and went for a German
suplex. Andrade landed on his feet, so Page floored him with
a lariat! They got back to their feet, and Page nailed a
high-impact Liger Bomb for a near-fall! The two fought on
the apron, and Page tried for a Deadeye, so Andrade rolled
free. Page connected with a basement clothesline and threw
Andrade back in the ring. Page hit a flying clothesline from
the top for a two-count and showed his frustration by
banging the mat.
Andrade escaped another Deadeye and hit Three Amigos for
another near-fall with a cocky cover. Andrade missed a
moonsault from the top, but landed on his feet and connected
on the second try. Hangman kicked out again! Andrade sent
Hangman to the corner, but Page sent him to the apron and
hit a springboard clothesline to send Andrade to the floor.
Page missed a crossbody, so Andrade quickly got back in the
ring and ran up the ropes with a tornillo to the outside!
Page caught him and threw him into the guardrail! Back in
the ring, Page measured for the Buckshot Lariat, but Andrade
countered with a boot to the face and spinning back elbow!
Page kicked out at two! That was a devastating combo!
Andrade crushed Page with running knees in the corner,
followed by the straight-jacket DDT, but Page kicked out!
The two men exchanged near-falls only for Page to come out
of it with a Deadeye. Page set up for a Buckshot Lariat, so
Callis got on the apron to distract the referee. When
Andrade tried to counter with a low blow, Page was ready for
it and hit a low blow of his own! Page went back to the
apron for the Buckshot Lariat and connected. 1-2-3! Page
wins and earns an AEW World Title shot on March 15 at AEW
Revolution in Los Angeles!
Mixed Tag Team Tornado Hair Match (Loser of the Fall Must
Have Their Head Shaven): “Timeless” Toni Storm & Orange
Cassidy def. “The Problem” Marina Shafir & Wheeler Yuta of
the Death Riders – Yuta Shaved Bald!
Storm and Cassidy came out in matching denim, a beautiful
compromise of their typical ring gear. As Shafir and Yuta
made their way through the crowd, we saw Yuta wearing the
hair he cut from Mina Shirakawa on Dynamite. However, the
Death Riders didn’t see Cassidy and Storm run out to attack!
The bell rang! This match has begun in the stands with both
pairs in different parts of the arena!
Yuta took advantage of Cassidy after a low blow, as Storm
and Shafir started to fight in their direction. Yuta sent
Cassidy into the guardrail and then helped Shafir with
Storm. Yuta got Storm on top of a road case and connected
with a piledriver! That might be it for Storm, as Luther and
medical personnel rushed over to help her while Yuta and
Shafir took Cassidy back to the ring. While Storm was helped
to the back, Shafir and Yuta were all over Cassidy in the
ring. He kicked out after a German suplex from Yuta, but
they remained on the attack, and Cassidy was in major
trouble.
Cassidy had no answers for the double team, especially
Shafir’s leg sweeps, but Cassidy came back with a dropkick
to send Yuta from the ring. He sprang back to his feet with
his hands in his pockets, so Shafir put him down with a judo
throw and then danced with his body around the ring! The
crowd came alive as Storm marched down the aisle and kicked
Yuta a bit low to knock him out of the way! Storm hit the
ring and unloaded on Shafir with suplexes! She caught
Cassidy for a proper dance, with OC sending Storm into
Shafir with a pair of strikes, but on the third attempt,
Shafir was ready and caught Storm as she kicked Cassidy to
the corner. In the opposite corner, Shafir kneed Storm to
the mat, but when she turned around and swung at Cassidy, he
ducked and hit Shafir with a Beach Break! Cassidy realized
he could win it and covered Shafir, which Yuta broke up
after a brief hesitation. Was he going to let Shafir lose
her hair?
Yuta picked up Cassidy, but OC reversed it into a Stundog
Millionaire and followed with a spinning DDT. He started
setting up the Orange Punch but realized it was Shafir on
the other end. He paused, then continued towards her, but
the delay cost him, as Shafir rolled him up and then grabbed
his ankle! Storm grabbed Yuta in the TCM Chicken Wing at the
same time! Storm and Shafir threw the men away and decided
to exchange strikes until Storm put Shafir down with a
headbutt. But Yuta was right there with a Busaiku Knee to
Storm! Cassidy broke up the pin! Cassidy kicked his way free
of Yuta’s grasp, so Yuta tried to hit him with a Busaiku
Knee, only for Cassidy to duck and Shafir to get the blow!
Cassidy dove onto her on the outside while Storm snatched
Yuta for a German suplex, followed by a hip attack in the
corner! Cassidy was back in the ring and hit the Orange
Punch on Yuta to send him into Storm for the Storm Zero.
Storm covered Yuta for the three-count! Storm and Cassidy
win, and because he was pinned, Yuta will have his head
shaved!
As Yuta pleaded with the referee, Mina Shirakawa came into
the ring with a stool to join the festivities after Yuta cut
her hair just four days ago. Yuta tried to bail and went
into the crowd, but Jon Moxley met him! Moxley sent Yuta
back to the ring! Moxley and Shafir joined Yuta in the ring,
as Shafir held Yuta’s hand for the first cut, which Mina
did! Storm got her chance with the scissors and cut
Shirakawa’s old hair out of Yuta’s, and gave it back to
Mina. Cassidy took over with an electric razor, and the real
improvements started to show up as more of Yuta’s hair hit
the mat. Moxley was disgusted and disappointed in the
corner, as Luther, who was dressed as a barber, took over
with the buzzer. Storm took a bit more off and then
celebrated in the hair, as the Death Riders stewed in the
ring. Yuta was left with the top of his head shaved and a
very misshapen mullet-like style in the back.
Kenny Omega vs. Swerve Strickland Happens in Four Days!
What began as concurrent journeys back to the AEW World
Championship has turned personal between Kenny Omega and
Swerve Strickland! And after reviewing the events from this
past week’s Dynamite, we’re counting the days, hours and
minutes until Omega vs. Swerve in Sacramento in four days on
Dynamite!
TNT Championship Ladder Match: “The Protostar” Kyle Fletcher

Before the match, we saw moments from after The ProtoStar's
TNT Title win on Dynamite, as Fletcher thanked Okada for not
getting involved in his match against Ciampa and asked him
to stay out of his match against Briscoe in Sydney again.
Okada understood and said he still feels bad about the
screwdriver. Fletcher told him they are family.
“And we are ProtO…”
Okada gave the biggest smile and said, “-KADA!”
With the TNT Title hanging high above, it was time for the
seventh matchup between Fletcher and Briscoe. It was no
surprise to see the two exchange blows at the bell until
Fletcher was knocked to the outside. Briscoe immediately
followed with a flip through the ropes to take out Fletcher.
Fletcher fought back with a half-and-half on the floor and
then went to retrieve a ladder. Briscoe recovered and kicked
the ladder into Fletcher. He used the ladder to put Fletcher
down and nailed a suplex before ascending to the top of the
ladder. However, Fletcher met him and threw Briscoe into the
apron with a sickening thud. Fletcher went up the ladder and
busted out a moonsault, which we haven’t seen in a while,
but the stakes of this match certainly warrant it!
Back in the ring, a ladder was set up on the turnbuckles,
which Fletcher used as a target when he lawn darted Briscoe
across the ring. The connection with the unforgiving ladder
busted Briscoe open on top of his head. Fletcher took the
opportunity to climb up the ladder for the TNT Title, but
Briscoe recovered and stopped him. He slammed Fletcher into
the ladder and threw him backwards from halfway up to the
mat. Fletcher stumbled back up, and Briscoe floored him with
a ladder to the forehead! Fletcher was busted wide open!.
More ladders were introduced to the match, including one
that became a bridge between the ring apron and another
ladder. Briscoe put Fletcher on it and went to the top rope,
where he leapt and connected with a Froggy Bow to Fletcher’s
body across the ladder! Briscoe saw the chance to grab the
TNT Title, although he was slowed by the blood loss, which
allowed Fletcher to stop him and throw Briscoe from the
ladder with a powerbomb through another ladder! Briscoe
tried to stop Fletcher’s attempt to get the TNT Title, so
Fletcher answered with a crescent kick and added additional
shots to leave Briscoe in a heap on the mat. With a ladder
bridged between the turnbuckles and the ladder in the middle
of the ring, Fletcher stood on it to try for a superplex,
but Briscoe fought out of it and put Fletcher and himself
through the ladder with a Jay Driller!
Briscoe climbed up the broken pieces of the ladder onto
another ladder in an attempt to get to the TNT Title, but
Fletcher grabbed Briscoe’s boot as Briscoe touched the
title. Briscoe was able to punch down on Fletcher and send
him back to the mat. Briscoe got a better hold of the title,
but Fletcher sprang back up onto the ladder to stop Briscoe.
He lifted Briscoe over one side of the ladder to the other
with a super brainbuster! Both men are down, and the crowd
is stunned!
Fletcher was up first and slowly climbed, as Briscoe grabbed
another ladder to set up next to Fletcher. Both men fought
from their respective ladders until Fletcher kicked Briscoe
off his ladder to the mat. That gave Fletcher the opening to
finish his climb and grab the TNT Title for the win! Kyle
Fletcher retains the TNT Title in his hometown of Sydney!
What a bloody ladder war!
Before the main event, we took another look at how MJF
versus Brody King came to be, as it was time for the AEW
World Championship match coming up next!
AEW World Championship Match: MJF (c) def. Brody King - MJF
Retains AEW World Title
Much like their first meeting in the AEW World Championship
Eliminator last week on Dynamite, the crowd was on fire at
the bell for MJF and King to get things going in our main
event!
MJF bailed to the floor and into the crowd to whip the fans
into a frenzy. He eventually returned to the ring and took a
shortcut with a kick to the gut on King. MJF did his best to
avoid King, but was flattened by a clothesline. King
punished MJF in the corner with chops and put him on the top
turnbuckle for a gorilla press slam! King went for a
cannonball, but MJF rolled to the outside, and King crashed
head-first into the corner. MJF repeatedly slammed King’s
left leg around the ring post and stayed on it in the ring,
but King got back to his feet and nearly hit a Gonzo Bomb,
only for MJF to get out of it and take out King’s leg. MJF
mockingly hit the kangaroo kick, and King went to the
outside. MJF took a second to use the ringside area to get
some more punishment on King before going back to the ring.
Once again, MJF locked a submission on King’s left knee, as
his plan was clear. He was chopping the bigger man down to
size.
King finally rolled out of an ankle lock to send MJF to the
outside and gathered himself to hit a dive through the ropes
that sent MJF nearly halfway up the ramp! Both men rolled
into the ring before the countout, and King started chopping
MJF down. He hit MJF with a back body drop out of the corner
and tried for another cannonball, but MJF rolled away, so
King stopped himself and grabbed MJF for a choke over the
ropes! MJF bit his way free and grabbed a chair, but King
cut him off and put MJF on the chair. King got a head of
steam and sandwiched MJF into the guardrail with a massive
crossbody. King threw MJF back in the ring and finally
connected with the cannonball on the third attempt! MJF
survived with a kickout at the last moment! It’s fair to
wonder if King’s injured leg was hurting his power.
MJF was able to slip onto King’s back with a sleeper, and
the challenger was down on the mat! King’s partner and ROH
World Champion Bandido arrived to encourage King, who picked
his arm up in time to stop the referee from calling for the
bell. He got to his feet and fell back on MJF with a senton.
MJF rolled to the floor, so King limped off the ropes and
tried for a dive, but MJF was there to meet him on the apron
and spiked him with a DDT! MJF got back in the ring and
tried to force a countout, but King got up, so MJF met him
at the ropes, only for King to put MJF on his back and hit a
Death Valley driver into the guardrail!
King was up first and got instructions from Bandido to bring
MJF with him. He threw MJF back in, as they both broke the
count. MJF pulled out the Dynamite Diamond Ring, but the
referee saw it and stopped him. King hit one massive shot to
put MJF on the apron, so King lifted him and choked MJF out
over the ropes! King threw a lifeless MJF back in the ring
and nailed the Gonzo Bomb! MJF kicked out at the last
possible chance to save his AEW World Title. The two
struggled to their feet, but MJF put King down with a drop
toehold. He pounded King’s knee on the apron and then pulled
the pad down so he could bite it!
MJF went back to the apron, so King hoisted him for a Gonzo
Bomb, but MJF grabbed the ropes to escape. King choked MJF
from the second turnbuckle, but MJF hit the bad knee to
escape. He grabbed King from the top and tombstoned him on
the apron! What a feat of strength! MJF set up King on the
apron for the Heat Seeker and connected! MJF covered King
and got the three-count to retain the AEW World
Championship!
Just seconds after the win, “Hangman” Adam Page stormed down
to the ring with his AEW Revolution World Title contract in
hand! He got in MJF’s face and signed the contract before
