WWE Hall of Famer Fred “Typhoon” Ottman posted a video on
his social media saying that he has been hospitalized for a
whole month in St. Petersburg, Florida.
He said he tried to keep this on the low due to privacy, but
acknowledged it’s hard to do it with the internet and “those
armchair people” so he decided to come out with the news
himself.
“I had a, unfortunately, my gallbladder exploded inside of
me, and it released a bunch of poison into my body, so I’ve
been on my back for 30 days,” he said, noting that the
surgeons told him that he had a major infection along with
some other stuff that he had been dealing with.
“If I would have waited one more day, the doctors told my
wife that I probably wouldn’t be here with you and be able
to talk to you guys,” he continued.
Ottman, who was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame last
year, said that he lost a lot of muscle mass and he’s
learning how to walk again after a whole month in bed.
“I mean, it’s been a brutal fight, I’ve been learning how to
walk again, you know, and it’s been a fight, it’s been a
fight, not out of the woods yet, but Monday afternoon later,
they’re gonna let me out of here,” he said.
He still needs to return to the hospital later in the month
for another operation to remove the drainage bag out.
Ottman thanked his family, friends, and wrestling buddies
for their support.
