AAA ON FOX SPORTS MEXICO: January 17 results (F4wonline)

Posted on 1/18/126 by Bob Magee

A new era for AAA begins tonight and we here here for it
along with everyone watching FOX in Latin America and
YouTube and Facebook everywhere else!

The show kicked off with a shot of a very passionate crowd
outside the arena chanting for their favourite Lucha Libre
promotion, AAA (it would have been awkward if it wasn’t, to
be honest).

The arena exploded with Booyaka’s as Lucha Libre legend and
noted deadbeat dad, Rey Mysterio Jr made his way to the ring
to start the live action. Rey addressed the crowd in
Spanish, which made sense. I don’t speak much Spanish, but
based on the reaction of the crowd, they were stoked to hear
from him.

There was one moment that needed no translation though. When
Rey said “La lucha libre es pasión.”

Rey then joined Corey Graves and JBL on commentary for the
rest of the show.

Niño Hamburguesa, La Parka & Mr. Iguana vs. Abismo Negro,
Taurus & Histeria
Stop me if you’ve heard this one: An iguana, a dancing
skeleton and a human hamburger walk into a wrestling ring to
fight a trio of anthropomorphic bulls wearing football pads.
There’s no punchline, just a gigantic smile on my face.
Seriously, is it my birthday?

Hamburguesa and Taurus kicked it off with the two heacy
weights trading some hard chops. Hamburguesa got the
momentum off the top, sending Taurus out and bringing in
Negro. Igunana threw a cheeseburger into Hamburguesa as he
landed a cannonball in the corner.

Histeria came in and took down Hamburguesa with a heel kick.
Taurus came in for a double team and Negro leapt from the
top rope with a dropkick. Taurus and Histeria put
Hamburguesa on the top turnbuckle, but he turned it around
on them and hit a couble splash.

La Parka tagged in and cleared the ring before planting
Taurus with a facebuster. He hoisted him up for a stalling
suplex, but Los Vipers (Histeria and Negro) broke up the pin
attempt.

Iguana tagged in and sent Negro to the outside. He leapt off
the top turnbuckle taking him out. Hamburguesa then executed
a suicide dive, taking both Vipers out. Iguana hit a
spinning slam on Taurus in the ring and picked up the pin,
1-2-3

Then, they danced. Oh how they danced.

Match Result: Niño Hamburguesa, La Parka & Mr. Iguana
defeated Abismo Negro, Taurus & Histeria

-It was then announced that the AAA Mega Champion Dominick
Mysterio would have a message for the AAA Audience.

-Backstage, Penta was interviewed and he said that he has a
huge announcement for next week’s show.

Non-Title MatchAAA Reina de Reinas Champion Flammer vs. Lady
Shani
Based on the in-depth research I did before the show, Reina
de Reinas means “Queen of Queens” making Flammer the
equivalent of the Women’s World Champion in AAA. Shani has
held the title twice previously.

Shani and Flammer got in each other’s faces before the bell
even rang and Flammer hit a headscissor right off the top.
Shani fought back and the two traded pinning combinations
with neither being able to get past a two count.

Flammer’s La Toxicas faction cheered from ringside as the
chops began in the ring. Flammer threw Shani into the corner
for a splash then pretended to kick dirt on her like a
baseball umpire. Flammer hit a spinning kick, but Shani
countered with a backstabber.

The two rolled around looking for a pin with Shani coming
out on top. Ledra got up on the apron and that brought out
Lola Vice to run her off. Maravia tried to pull Shani’s
ankle, but she shrugged her off. The chaos left Shani open
though and Flammer was able to hit a dropkick to send Shani
to the mat and get a pin.

Match Result: AAA Reina de Reinas Champion Flammer defeated
Lady Shani

-After a word in the back with El Hijo del Vikingo about how
mad he is people like Grande Americano more than him, El
Hijo Del Dr Wagner Jr, the AAA Latin American Champion, came
down to the ring. He addressed the crowd and threw out a
challenge, according to Rey Mysterio. Suddenly who should
appear behind him in the ring? Why a man in a mysterious
purple mask. The two shook hands and he leaned in to whisper
something in Wagner’s ear before knocking him to the mat. He
then peeled off his mask to reveal Santos Escobar!

-After a break, the AAA Mega Champion Dominick Mysterio was
showing driving in his car, discussing how AAA is becoming
bigger than ever. He thinks it’s for one reason: Dirty Dom.
He said he is the best Luchadore ever, the King of The
Luchadores in fact and will remain so.

AAA Mega Championship Match No. 1 Contender’s Match: El
Grande Americano vs. El Hijo del Vikingo
Both luchadores came out to big ovations and in Vikingo’s
case, a big coat as well. They were pushing things time wise
at this point though, so it was surprising that they went
through the full entrances for both.

The bell rang and they locked up, Vikingo grabbing a
wristlock. Grande flipped out of it and put on a headlock.
Grande dragged Vikingo to his feet and then shoved him back
to the mat. He did this a few times, working Vikingo’s arm.

Vikingo managed to poke an eye and then rain down some
punches on Americano. The ref broke it up and Vikingo dodged
a whip into the corner. He hit an insiguri and then a
dropkick. He went for the cover but Americano kicked out at
two.

Vikingo pulled down Americano’s singlet straps to open hand
chop him and that woke Americano up. Americano hit a lariat
and hip-tossed Vikingo off of the ropes. Americano set
Vikingo up in the corner and punched him exactly 10 times.

Vikingo exploded out of the corner though, hanging Americano
up on the second rope. He stood on Americano’s throat and
then kicked him in the back of the neck repeatedly. Vikingo
threw a few of his own punches in the corner, but Americano
got him into a vertical suplex and slammed him to the mat.

Americano picked up momentum, tossing Vikingo around the
ring. Americano chased Vikingo’s manager Dorian around the
ring allowing Vikingo to hit him with a dropkick and send
him to the outside. Vikingo sent Americano face first into
the ring steps and then barricades. He sent a stiff kick to
Americano’s head and bounced him off the ring post.

Vikingo thew him back into the ring and climbed the
turnbuckle for a 450 splash. Americano kicked out at two
though.

Vikingo threw some hands and feet at Americano, but he no-
sold them and fired up, sending Vikingo to the mat over and
over with lariats and punches. Americano hit a second-rope
clothesling and put Vikingo in a modified Camel Clutch, but
Dorian got up on the ring to cause a distraction, breaking
the hold.

Americano went into his tights for a metal plate to load up
his mask, but then threw it aside and locked in that camel
clutch again. Vikingo countered for a two count. He threw
kick after kick at Americano, but Americano caught him with
an air raid crash. Americano went for the cover but could
only get a two count.

Americano put Vikingo on the top turnbuckle and the two
battled up there until Americano went for a superplex.
Dorion grabbed Vikingo’s ankle, preventing the suplex and
was ejected from ringside.

Americano slid out of the ring and grabbed the metal plate
the’d thrown there before. As he grabbed it a giant foot
stepped on his hand. The camera panned up to reveal Omas.
Vikingo threw Americano back into the ring and hit a 630
splash onto Americano to get the victory and become the #1
contender for Dirty Dom’s AAA Mega Championship.

Match Result: El Hijo del Vikingo defeated El Grande
Americano

After the match, Vikingo and Omas stood tall in the ring
until Americano levelled Vikingo with a headbutt off the
ropes. He tried to do the same to Omas, but he wasn’t able
to cut down the giant man. Suddenly, Rey Mysterio ran down
to the ring with a kendo stick that may have been bigger
than he was.

Mysterio menaced at Omas with the kendo stick, but Dorian
convinced him to leave the ring with Vikingo. Rey and
Americano remained as Omos and Vikingo left together with
Dorian.
