After 21 hours, 49 minutes and 12 seconds of wrestling, and
more than $31,000 Canadian dollars raised for charity, a
Knightfall from Stu Grayson against Junior Benito brought an
end to what Mystery Wrestling claims is the longest match of
all time.
A 16-person Cibernetico match, which started on Monday
afternoon in Gatineau, Quebec, Canada, and concluded on
Tuesday morning, surpassed the recognized world record for
the longest professional wrestling match of all time just a
few minutes before its end.
The record-breaking endeavor was a fundraiser for the
Canadian Cancer Society, raising $31,000 CAD (over $22,000
USD) by the time the final bell went. Another $2,000 CAD was
raised during the one-hour post-show.
The event was a collaboration between Mystery Wrestling,
owned by AEW’s Evil Uno, and C4 Wrestling’s annual “Fighting
Back” campaign.
Guinness World Records previously recognized a 2021 event
from Ehime Pro Wrestling (EPW) as the recordholder for
longest wrestling match, clocking in at 21 hours, 44 minutes
and 34 seconds.
Mystery Wrestling said their recent match won’t be
recognized by the world record organization, claiming that
Guinness asked for a five-figure payout to make the record
official.
Along with Benito and Grayson, other competitors in the
match included: Dante Dubois, Gabriel Floyd, HADDY, Jeff
Fury, Joe Jobber, Katrina Creed, KJ Swayde, Alvin Turner,
Cecil Nyx, Dreya Mitchell, Jason Exile, Mathis Myre, Top
Dog, and Xander Orion.
The match had a gripping near-fall with just seconds before
they broke the previously held EPW record. After eating a
piledriver from Grayson, Benito had to kick out of the move
to keep the match alive with just a moment to spare before
surpassing the previously held achievement. Luckily, he was
able to kick out.
The event utilized numerous referees who worked in shifts.
The broadcast, free to watch on Youtube and Twitch, saw Evil
Uno commentate alongside a long list of in-person and
virtual guests, including AEW names Nyla Rose, Mike Bailey,
Colt Cabana, Adam Cole, and many others.
