AEW announced that it will tape the Christmas week episodes
of Dynamite and Collision from the Hammerstein Ballroom in
midtown Manhattan with Dynamite on 34th Street to be taped
on Saturday, December 20 while Christmas Collision, will be
taped on Sunday, December 21. The airing of those shows will
be altered, as will other Holiday Dynamites and Collisions,
as Fightful Select is reporting the following changes:
* December 13 Collision starts at 4:30 pm ET (the day of
John Cena's retirement match)
* December 17 Dynamite at 8:00 pm followed by Collision at
10:00 pm ET, Countdown to Worlds End at 11:00 pm ET
* December 20 Collision starts at 2:30 pm ET
* December 24 Dynamite on 34th Street is listed for an early
start at 6:00 pm ET
* December 25 Christmas Collision is listed to start at 9:00
pm ET.
Along with avoiding John Cena's retirement match on Peacock,
it should be noted that the December 13 Collision will come
right after 2 Big East basketball games. The 1-hour
Collision on December 20 is scheduled to lead into TNT's
college football playoff games (but could also be scheduled
to follow the games per Rich Guleksen of HBOMAX). Lead-ins
or follows have generally been helpful for Dynamite and
Collision viewing numbers. No word on how the Tailgate Brawl
for World's End would be handled.
Dynamite on 34th Street and Christmas Collision changes are
due to the annual 24-hour marathon of A Christmas Story in
2025, which will air on TBS and TNT, starting on Christmas
Eve, December 24th. TBS will begin its marathon at 8 p.m.
ET/PT, while TNT will start at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
AEW is also doing a mini-residency taking four episodes of
Collision back to the Esports Stadium in Arlington, Texas in
January. Announced by the Dallas News, the dates are January
3, January 10, January 24, and January 31. AEW President
Tony Khan said in the article: “I wish we’d been back
even sooner...I love being around Dallas. To do these shows
and have Collision events back at the Esports Stadium again,
it’s fantastic for us. That’s always a great place for AEW,
and in particular, we’ve had some of our best events there.
I can’t wait to go back.”
Early access premium seating starts now via AEWTix.com.
In the United States, tomorrow is Giving Tuesday, and
Thanksgiving is this Thursday in the United States.
For the last ten years, AS I SEE IT has reported on how the
independent wrestling community has reached out to those in
need. Independent promotions throughout the United States
and Canada have held events to help their communities during
the Holiday season through wrestling shows, Comic-Cons,
playing video games, 10-day marathons sitting on top of a
trailer, bowling parties, online trivia contests, chicken
BBQ's, portrait sittings, Twitch streams, and a dozen other
means.
Each week during those ten seasons of giving, I've posted
about those events, and how they helped their communities.
Some promotions worry that their event may not collect a lot
of canned food, toys, or raise a lot of money. Some
independent promotions are bigger than others and have fan
bases larger than others. But there's a proverb out of the
Talmud: if you save one life... it as is if you saved the
world. Using the logic of that teaching...if you feed one
family, make one kid happy, give one person a warm
coat....you've done so for everyone. In an interesting side
note: the same proverb is cited in the Koran. Not to mention
that Jesus also said if you did for one of the least of
mine, you did it for me....proving that in all the great
Western traditions, that EVERY effort to do good as is
important as the other.
In all these events over these ten years, they asked fans to
do one small thing. Just "one small thing". But that "one
small thing" meant the world to someone you will never meet.
One can of soup meant that someone was fed for a meal. One
box of rice meant that a family was fed for a week or more.
One warm coat meant an older person won't shiver
uncontrollably when they walk to the market or to a doctor's
appointment.
One toy meant that a child is allowed a moment of innocence
and joy, often the same child who has gone through fear and
deprivation for far too long.
One "small thing" that was anything but small.
It's important because even the smallest act of kindness can
change a life.
The Holidays this year are a time where a 40 day government
shutdown resulted in up to 42 million Americans not
receiving some or all of their SNAP benefits on time. The
effects of this shutdown and the resulting budget
legislation will continue through the Holidays and beyond;
with the new budget legislation resulted in 4 million being
off SNAP benefits permanently.
All this means men, women, children, and folks beyond the
binary have been going hungry. It means that at a time like
this, every can, every box, every can, box or bag of food
may be the only thing that keeps people from starvation.
Prior to this year...in the last five non-COVID years
(excluding 2020 and 2021), the independents that have
provided information to this blog have raised $1,069,520
US in cash donations, collected 53,544 pounds (nearly
27 tons) of canned and non-perishable food and 58,964
toys.... acts of kindness seemingly beyond measure.
Side note: this is the information I've been able to get
during those years from promotions, charities, and so on.
Inexplicably, there are promotions that don't provide ways
to be contacted, don't have functional social media, claim
not to know how much has been donated or contributed (or
even in two or three cases refused to disclose), and were
removed from this list because of that inability or
unwillingness to provide information. News flash, promoters:
getting publicity for doing good work isn't bragging or
doing something inappropriate. Yes, helping others for the
sake of helping others is its own reward. But reporting what
you do is a vital part of what you do...it's called
PROMOTING.
It's also inspiring others by your example. As an example:
many northeast Toys for Tots efforts were inspired by the
New Jersey-based United Wrestling Coalition, who's done Toys
for Tots collections for the last 30 years. Thousands of
toys for thousands of toys came out of that one act thirty
years ago. That came from one act.
With the current regime in Washington, far, far more of
these acts of kindness will be needed this Holiday season
from every private source possible to help the hungry, the
sick, the cold, the homeless, LGBT people, sexual/domestic
violence victims, animal welfare, and too many more
causes.
Thus far, 134 indie promotions in 27 states and 5 Canadian provinces have scheduled a total of
199 shows and events through the end of the Holiday
Season.
Total contributions as of November 22 are 1,916 toys,
112 backpacks/sets of school supplies, a van filled
with winter jackets and clothing, 2 boxes of
bedclothes/linens, 20 Halloween outfits, 23,518 pounds
(over 11 TONS) of canned/non-perishable food, and
$535,048.72 US in cash donations.
