Just when WWE no-compete clauses have been a major topic of
discussion due to Andrade El Idolo’s situation, former WWE
ring announcer Samantha Irvin revealed something worse than
Andrade’s clause!
Andrade is believed to have triggered his one-year no-
compete in the United States because he was effectively
fired from his job following multiple Wellness Program
violations and disciplinary issues.
While the one-year no-compete was widely panned, Irvin today
revealed that she actually had a two-year clause, which is
why she never popped up in another wrestling company since
leaving WWE.
“One year down, one year left on my non-compete! Can’t
wait,” Irvin wrote responding to someone on X noting it’s
been a year since she has departed WWE.
“I hope you enjoy my songs in the meantime and look back on
all the memories as fondly as I do! Love & miss you all and
remember – I NEVER left FOR music, I am music. Hope to see
you soon…,” she added.
Irvin, who admitted she hated ring announcing despite being
universally-loved for her passion behind each introduction,
said that the gig was only supposed to be her way in as she
was interested in managing.
“But WWE saw no other future for me besides announcer,”
Irvin wrote at the time of her departure. “I love watching
the action but I don’t love being an announcer.”
