"Do you hear the people sing...
Singing the songs of everyone
It is the music of a people
Who will not be slaves again...

When the beating of your hearts
Echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start
when tomorrow comes...

Will you join in our crusade?
Who will be strong and stand with me?
Somewhere beyond the barricade
Is there a world you long to see?

Then join in the fight
that will give you the right to be free... "

Les Miserables, When Tomorrow Comes.

I saw America Saturday. It was punks and priests and
grandmas in Sketchers, it was active military and Freedom
Frogs. It was Soho and the Deep South and Berkeley and
middle America. It was dishwashers and business executives.
It was red states and blue states. And I saw
flags....thousands and thousands of flags. Together, they
were the gentle, angry people that Holly Near once sang of.
Together, they celebrated the values of an America that once
was and can yet be again.

From this old marcher who marched against nuclear weapons,
wars in Central America, nuclear power, hate, racism,
homophobia, and bigotry all the way to marching against the
brutal murder of Tamir Rice...to the millions of you in the
US and beyond.. thank you.

No Kings.

Kylie Rae, the inaugural WWE ID Women’s champion, announced
October 10 on social media that the company is not renewing
her WWE ID deal.  “Today I share that my time with WWE ID
is coming to an end as I was informed my contract will not
be renewed... I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunities,
memories, and people I met along the way.”

While Kylie Rae was one of several released or whose
contracts weren't renewed over the last two weeks from
EVOLVE and WWE ID...there's one major difference: Kylie Rae
is pregnant, a fact she'd announced days before.  The
visuals of releasing a pregnant woman aren't exactly the
best. Particularly a pregnant woman that cost TKO and WWE a
grand sum of $500/week.

Kylie Rae is hardly the only questionable releases in recent
weeks. Karl Anderson is another example from some time back
of a wrestler released while injured. BJ Ray was recently
released while injured. Now, Ridge Holland has announced on
social media that his contract is not being renewed when it
expires on November 14.

Holland, who has been out after suffering an Lisfranc injury
during a TNA match against Moose, said while WWE will cover
his rehab and any costs, they are not renewing his contract
or even extending his contract for injury. “Quite
frustrating to say the least as I cannot work for another 6
months due to the aforementioned injury, with a family of 5
to support....My career with WWE has been blighted by
misfortune but I’m still thankful and grateful for the
opportunity and experience. The shining light that has
always kept me going is the HUGE support from a handful of
special human beings,”

Worse still, he wasn't being paid anything in addition to
his WWE salary. There's been no word that TNA/Anthem Sports
is contributing anything at all to Holland's medical care or
salary.

Fightful Select reported that this matter is concerning a
number of members of the WWE roster. There is no reason that
WWE couldn't give Holland at least a six-month extension
until his ankle heals, and Holland is physically able to
take independent bookings.

It's worth remembering that TKO/WWE is the same company adds
time to deals if you're hurt while under contract if it
suits them, especially if you're seeking to go to a
competitor.

Speaking of what TKO will do with contracts if they choose
to, let's look at the mystery of Andrade El Idolo, who
returned to AEW on the October 1 AEW Dynamite after being
released by WWE on September 13, allegedly due to wellness
violations.

He aligned with the Don Callis Family upon making his AEW
return, attacking Kenny Omega. But Andrade hasn't been back
since then. According to Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez of
the Wrestling Observer, WWE sent AEW a letter regarding
Andrade and a non-compete clause.

AEW reportedly believed that he didn’t have a non-compete.
Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp added, “The Andrade situation
is very weird. Even people in WWE thought he didn’t have a
non-compete.”
Andrade also worked for Mexico's The Crash
in Mexico on October 3. WWE main roster talent normally has
a 90-day non-compete clause after a release by the company
(30 days if NXT), but in addition. Fightful reported that
Andrade will not be paid because of the nature of his
release.

So let me get this straight. At first, Andrade was told he
can't work for AEW for 90 days...but WWE isn't paying him?
I'm not a lawyer, nor do I play one on TV, but I can't
imagine this would pass any legal challenge.

It's understandable that AEW would just going to stay out of
the line of fire, and just keep Andrade out until the
alleged 90 day non-compete.

Except later in the week, WWE is now taking the step of
attempting to keep him on a non-compete for a year, claiming
if someone is fired for cause, they can be kept out of the
ring, they are subject to being kept on non-compete for a
year. There is even less chance that any court would allow
such a provision to stand. Andrade is reported to have good
lawyers and will almost certainly challenge this in court.

Andrade's lawyer will be able to buy that new boat, after
all.

Then, there's the unintentionally comical remarks by Nick
Khan, who says he believes that fans will travel to Saudi
Arabia in 2027 for Wrestlemania.

It was a natural next step for us. In WWE, we realized a
number of years ago that we can’t simply pipe American
product out globally and hope to be a global product. You
actually have to have boots on the ground. If you look at
what we’ve done with our Premium Live Events over the last
few years, about half of those now take place outside of the
United States. We’re in the eighth year of a long-term
partnership with Turki Al-Sheikh and the Kingdom of Saudi
Arabia.

We’re bringing Royal Rumble here at the end of January. It’s
the first time Royal Rumble, which is our second or third
biggest event, will take place outside of the US or Canada.
WrestleMania 2027 will be here in April of that year, first
time ever WrestleMania will be outside of the US or Canada.
We’re excited. We think viewership is going to be strong. We
think people will come to the Kingdom to see our show and
we’re going to put on a spectacle."

Nick Khan also believes in invisible rainbow
unicorns....because Turki Al-Sheikh told him to.

Finally, the season of giving is here. The NCAA and the NFL
are in full swing, pumpkin spice and Spooky season are on,
and the first Holiday ad appeared on my TV. Mariah Carey is
midway in the defrost cycle. That means that wrestling
indies need to start thinking about the season of
giving...NOW.

Over last year's fall and Holiday season...and for the last
ten years, AS I SEE IT has reported on how the independent
wrestling community reached out to those in need.
Independent promotions throughout the United States and
Canada held events to help their communities during the
Holiday season through wrestling shows, Comic-Cons, playing
video games,10-day marathons sitting on top of a trailer,
bowling parties, online trivia contests, chicken BBQ's,
portrait sittings, Twitch streams, and a dozen other means.

In all those events, they asked fans to do one small thing.
Just "one small thing". But that "one small thing" meant the
world to someone you will never meet.

One can of soup meant that someone was fed for a meal. One
box of rice meant that a family was fed for a week or more.

One warm coat meant an older person won't shiver
uncontrollably when they walk to the market or to a doctor's
appointment.

One toy meant that a child is allowed a moment of innocence
and joy, often the same child who has gone through fear and
deprivation for far too long.

One "small thing" that was anything but small.

Just take a look at the faces of the thousands of children
given toys in southern Florida by Stuff The Bus in Florida,
or in South Jersey by United Wrestling Coalition in New
Jersey, or throughout the Northeast Major Wrestling Figure
Podcast and Ringside Collectibles, or ask the survivors of
domestic violence helped with sanctuary and counseling by
Women of Nations Eagles Nest Shelter because Midwest All
Star Wrestling presented the annual Women of Nations Grand
Slam, or the 1,000 families fed by an effort of Southern
California indies, or thousands of other families provided
toys, winter jacket, or cans of food through Detroit Warm,
Detroit Goodfellows, and Covenant House from a Juggalo
Championship Wrestling show.

It's important because even the smallest act of kindness can
change a life.

Prior to this year...in the last five non-COVID years
(excluding 2020 and 2021), the independents that have
provided information to this blog have raised $1,069,520
US
in cash donations, collected 53,544 pounds (nearly
27 tons)
of canned and non-perishable food and 58,964
toys
.... acts of kindness seemingly beyond measure.

Yet with the current regime in Washington, far, far more of
these acts of kindness will be needed this Holiday season
from every private source possible to help the hungry, the
sick, the cold, the homeless, LGBT people, sexual/domestic
violence victims, animal welfare, and too many more causes.
Indies, it's time to start planning what you can do NOW.

Fans, if your local indie hasn't scheduled or announced an
event or events for the Holiday season, ask them why
not....SOON. Better yet, offer to help them organize one. It
might be you that needs help tomorrow.

89 indie promotions have scheduled a total of
133 shows and events through the end of the Holiday
Season.

Total contributions as of October 17 are 100 toys,
112 backpacks/sets of school supplies, 20 Halloween

canned/non-perishable food, and $372,300.07 US in
