NIELSEN RATINGS: News on major Nielsen ratings changes

Posted on 10/03/125 by Bob Magee

Later today (presumably) the Dynamite ratings will be coming
out. You may see two sets of ratings. Programming Insider,
and gradually Wrestlenomics will use what Neilsen is calling
the Big Panel+Data system vs. the former system we're all
used. In short, it would appear that shows that have a
younger age skew, seem to measure lower with Big Data +
Panel, but it’s by no means consistent.

So far, most wrestling telecasts have shown lower numbers.
Major sports events have shown increases, some significant
ones.

Other websites may use the old system. This explains last
week's confusion on ratings numbers with NXT & AEW. Dynamite
was listed as 638,000/.14 with the old system, but
554,000/.11 under the new. Last week's NXT (September 23)
measured 13% lower in viewers (and 28% lower in P18-49)

Collision, though, was slightly higher in ratings but lower
in viewers. Yet the difference was only 5% lower for
Collision, and it measured one ratings point higher.

So it's unclear which will happen. So anyone attempting to
use these numbers over the next few weeks to score brownie
points in social media arguments or trolling...is likely
simply talking out of their asses.

Wrestlenomics explains the system in the link below.
