AS I SEE IT September 21: ALL OUT/Worlds Collide weekend, counter-programming fails again, and indies helping their communities during the Holidays

Wrestletix reports that ALL OUT, taking place on Saturday,
September 26 at NOW Arena in Hoffman Estates, IL, is at an
estimated 9,217 tickets distributed as of September 17,
making the show a sellout. It is expected that AEW will add
further seats prior to showtime.

Dave Meltzer stated in Twitter that ALL OUT "would have
only been the third time in US history that I know of
(looking for historian's help if there are others) where two
rival companies head-to-head in the same metro area drew
10,000 on the same day."

The two Meltzer knows of are both in Philadelphia, once in
1986 and once in 1987, both with WWF vs. Jim Crockett
Promotions (I attended both JCP shows in Philly). There was
at least one other head to head-to-head in Philadelphia in
1985, but both may not have done 10,000.

Local Chicago fans in the know told Meltzer that, in fact,
there actually WILL likely be 10,164 fans in attendance,
including suites for ALL OUT, as there were at ALL OUT 2021,
owing to box seat that were full for previous ALL OUTs.

This history making number occurs with WWE running Worlds
Collide directly head-to-head against ALL OUT, loading the
NXT/AAA event with CM Punk and others. As happens every time
TKO employs such tactics, it has no effect on AEW.

In one of the most unintentionally hilarious TKO-AEW
counter-programming moments of the year, Fightful Select
reported last Wednesday that the Worlds Collide show,
created to run head-to-head in the Chicago market against
ALL OUT... may not be broadcast live. As of Wednesday, WWE
does not have internal plans to broadcast the event, with no
broadcaster officially announced for the show. AAA normally
airs weekly events on YouTube in the United States so most
assumed it would have aired there. But as of now, there are
no plans to air the event. There has been speculation
regarding the event airing via Club WWE, similar to what WWE
did with the WWE Women's Title win in a Chile house show
match of Stephanie Vaquer over Liv Morgan. Even THAT hasn't
been announced as of yet.

It appears that the main purpose of TKO scheduling Worlds
Collide head-to-head was to try to hurt attendance at ALL
OUT. When that had absolutely no effect, WWE was left not
knowing how to handle the situation. At best, it'll likely
be a battle for local media in Chicagoland. Hopefully AEW
uses Tony Khan all weekend to combat the TKO media machine.

All Elite Wrestling announced last Monday that it's kicking
off this year's Continental Classic beginning on Wednesday,
November 18 on Dynamite from the Mission Ballroom in Denver,
CO, with tickets set to go on sale to the general public
today.

Last Tuesday, AEW announced that starting in November, Hulu
Japan will be the Japanese home of All Elite Wrestling. AEW
will be available each week as Hulu Japan will offer
Dynamite, Collision, and AEW PPV events weekly. Hulu Japan
will be carrying Dynamite, Collision, and all of AEW’s pay-
per-view events as part of the deal to the approximately
three million subscribers.

AEW previously aired on NJPW World, but the company exited
that agreement following the launch of the MyAEW streaming
service. Nippon TV, which owns Hulu in Japan, recently
announced a deal to bring HBO Max to the service starting
from October 1, giving the standard tier free to Hulu Japan
subscribers at no extra charge.

It's September, fall is in the air...and the first leaves
are turning here in South Jersey. There may still be a hot
day or two to come, but schools are open, the NFL season is
under way, pumpkin spice everything is appearing...Spirit
Halloween is open and Mariah Carey is defrosting; but it's
never too soon for local independent wrestling promotions to
think about what efforts they can undertake to help their
communities during 2026's Holiday season. Given the
political environment, more help will be needed from every
private source possible to help the hungry, the sick, the
cold, the homeless, sexual/domestic violence victims, animal
welfare, and too many more.
