Here we go, Amigos! Triplemania Night 2 is here (and an hour
earlier!) and if you thought Night 1 was wild, you’re in for
a treat! The Mega, Reina de Reinas, Cruiserwieght and Tag
titles will all be on the line and if that’s not enough for
youre jaded little heart, there’s also a Mexican Street
Fight and a Lucha-Rumble! So, let’s do this thing!
Copa Bardahl Cibernatico Match
The Copa Bardahl Cibernetico match wis a Triplemania
tradition. The match lis like a Royal Rumble (an over-the-
top-rope battle royal with a staggered entry system) with
two luchadores starting and a new competitor entering the
ring every 90 seconds. The big difference is that
participants can be eliminated by being thrown over the top
rope (with both feet hitting the floor), or conventionally
via pinfall and submission. The last Copa Bardahl was won by
none other than Omos. There are 15 luchadores in the match
and an all-luchadore rumble sounds like the most fun you can
have without committing a crime of some sort.
The first luchadore to enter: None other than Mr. Iguana!
Iguana failed to capture the AAA Latin American Championship
from his best friend La Parka on Night 1 so he might be a
little tired. Especially when facing the second entrant:
Abismo Negro!
They locked up and Negro got Iguana up in a Military Press,
but Iguana got out of it and hit an iguanaranarana into an
armbar as the second entrant arrived: Histeria. Histeria is
a member of Los Vipers with Negro, so they immediately began
double teaming Iguana. Negro went for a cover, but Iguana
kicked out at two. They started trying to throw him over the
top rope as Mascarita Sagrada arrived as the next entrant.
Sagrada took down Negro with a headscissor, but fell victim
to the Los Vipers numbers game. Iguana slid him La Yesca and
Sagrada beat up Negro and Histeria with the puppet. The next
entrant arrived: Tarus, the third member of Los Vipers.
Tarus sent Iguana to the corner and hit him with double
knees. Los Vipers stomped him and hit a double team before
Negro flew in with a double stomp from the top rope. Sagrada
tried to help, but couldn’t do much against Los Vipers.
Taurus speared Sagrada and Los Vipers stomped him as the
next entrant arrived: El Fiscal! Fiscal and Negro are blood
enemies, so he came in (dressed as Skeletor oddly enough)
and took out Los Vipers.
Fiscal eliminated Negro, but Taurus and Histeria skinned the
cat. Fiscal tried to knock them off the apron, but Negro
came back in and eliminated Fiscal. They brawled to the back
while Taurus tried to eliminate Iguana. Then Laredo Kid
arrived in a foul mood because he came up empty on Night 1.
Laredo hit a big headscissor on Taurus then a Mexican
Destroyer on Histeria before Sagrada got involved and Laredo
hit him with a driver. Laredo and Iguana started throwing
punches and the 8th entrant arrived in the name of Mecha
Wolf. He DDT’d Laredo then Iguana slapped him with La Yesca.
Mecha bit Iguana and Sagrada tried to help. Mecha slammed
Sagrada onto Iguana, but Iguana kicked out of the cover.
The 9th entrant was none other than the Latin American
Champion La Parka. He hit backbreakers on Histeria and
Taurus before flapjacking Laredo. La Parka then eliminated
Taurus and hit a bone breaker on Histeria to get a pin and
eliminate him. Iguana and La Parka started working together
as El Mesias arrived in the tenth spot.
Mesias clotheslined La Parka and powerslammed Laredo before
giving Iguana a backbreaker. Sagrada didn’t fare much better
as Mesias and Mecha formed a loose alliance. Mesias got a
two count on Laredo before the 11th entrant, Dinamico,
strutted down to the ring. He hit Mesias with a dropkick and
then a cutter on Laredo. He hit a pop up powerbomb on
Iguana, then a brutal knee on La Parka for a two count.
Mecha grabbed Dinamico and Dinamico responded with a
springboard cutter. Mecha then misted Dinamico and Mesias
speared him for a double stack pin to eliminate Dinamico.
Texano, Jr. was the 12th entrant and he immediately slapped
down Laredo and Mecha. He hit them both with a double power
slam and then he and Mesias renewed their rivalry with right
hands. Texano dropped him with a leg for a two count as the
13th entrant, Omos (last year’s winner!) stomped down to the
ring.
Everyone stopped in the ring and got set for the arrival of
the giant. Omos stepped over the top rope and like a Steven
Segal movie, everyone attacked him one at a time except
Sagrada. He and Omos stood face-to-crotch ad Omos picked him
up for a slam. Everyone else attacked, but Texano and Laredo
fell to Omos’ big hands. Mesias was next and then Omos
chokeslammed Mecha for three.
La Parka put up a fight, but Omos clothesline him over the
top rope for an elimination. Only Iguana and Sagrada were
left until the 14th entrant’s music hit: Chris Carter.
Carter is kinda the 2026 AAA version of Duane Gill, so it
wasn’t surprising that Omos immediately threw him over the
top rope for an elimination.
The 15th Entrant was all that was left and it was 2-time
Copa winner Nino Hamburguesa! He is a big man and
immediately started throwing hands at Omos. He got him into
the corner and splashed him. Omos fought back and eliminated
Iguana, but then Sagrada jumped on Omos’ head and caused him
to lose his balance and spill over the top rope! Omos’ feet
didn’t hit the floor and Omos got back into the ring and
eliminated Hamburguesa to become a back-to-back Copa winner.
Match Result: Omos wins the Copa Bardhal for the second year
in a row.
My goodness that was fun! I would have LOVED to see Sagrada
eliminate Omos, but the reality of it is that Omos is
unstoppable in a battle royal situation. Awesome way to
start the night though!
AAA Reina de Reinas Championship Match: Flammer (c) vs. La
Catalina
As of this writing, Flammer has held the Reina de Reinas
title for a ludicrous 1128 days (only ROH Women’s Champion
Athena has had a title longer at 1371 days). As for this
match though, at Verano de Escándalo, Flammer retained the
title in a triple threat match against Lady Shani and La
Catalina. She then went to GM Rey Mysterio’s office where
she declared that she was taking Triplemania off since she
has beaten all worthy challengers. Disagreeing, Mysterio
announced a #1 Contender’s gauntlet match at Ola de Calor
which was won by Catalina.
At Triplemania Night 1, Roxanne Perez won a four-way match
against Natti, Faby Apache and La Hiedra to earn a shot at
whomever holds the Reina de Reinas title at Worlds Collide
on September 26th. After that match, La Hiedra and Flammer
seemed to be at odds with each other, which could make for
an interesting bout tonight.
Catalina grabbed a headlock off the bell but Flammer shook
her off. Flammer shot Catalina off the ropes, but she came
back with a shoulder block and a dropkick to put the
champion on her back. Catalina clubbed Flammer to the mat,
but Flammer rolled out and grabbed her ankle, dragging
Catalina to the outside where she ran her head up against
the announce table and the steel steps.
Flammer threw Catalina back into the ring and stomped her
before putting her in a submission lock not unlike a chicken
wing. Catalina kicked her way out of the hold and started
throwing punches. Flammer hit her with a really stiff
looking forearm and then put her in an octpus hold. Catalina
pushed through and slammed Flammer to break it.
She dropkicked Flammer and then hit a hip attack to knock
her out of the ring. Catalina then speared Flammer on the
outside but Flammer turned the tables and threw her into the
barricades. Catalina simply got up on top of the barricade
and splashed Flammer. Catalina threw her back into the ring
and went up top for a missile dropkick.
Catalina sent Flammer to the corner for a hip attack, then
tried a cover for a two count. Catalina hit a modified Gory
bomb for another two count. Flammer rolled through for a
double stomp before hitting a double underhook drop-her-on-
her-head for two. Flammer chopped and kicked Catalina,
trying to wear the challenger down.
Catalina fought back and speared Flammer in the center of
the ring, but Flammer wasn’t done yet. Catalina sent her to
the corner, but Flammer kicked her in the face and then
dropped her with a sit-out powerbomb for two. Flammer went
up top and tried a swanton, but Catalina moved and she
crashed to the mat. Catalina went up for a splash, but
Flammer got the knees up.
Flammer hit a codebreaker then dropkicked Catalina’s head
off, sending her to the outside. Flammer threw her back in
and looked up the ramp expectantly, but no one was there.
Catalina took advantage and slammed Flammer, hanging her up
on the ropes for a hip atack and then a running knee to get
the 1-2-3 and Catalina ends Flammers historic reign and
becomes the Reina de Reinas Champion!
Match Result: La Catalina defeated Flammer
Wow! That was historic! It’s incredible to see a new
champion, but I have to say, Flammer’s strikes are some of
the best in the business. They were all perfect and looked
brutal. Los Toxicas may be imploding, but man, what a match
to light the spark! Now, Catalina has Roxanne Perez to deal
with at Worlds Collide.
Mexican Street Fight: Psycho Clown vs. El Carnicero
Way back on the August 8th epsode of AAA, Psycho Clown was
in a triple threat match to earn a spot to fight for the
then-vacant AAA Latin American Championship. However, an
unknown luchador appeared behind the barricade and brutally
attacked Clown, costing him the match. That was the first
time we’ve laid eyes on El Carnicero. At Ola de Calor,
Carnicero made his in-ring debut that ended in a no contest
when Psycho Clown arrived with a kendo stick get some
measure of revenge on Carnicero. He then challenged him to a
Mexican Street Fight, which I assume is like a regular
street fight, but with way better food.
At Night 1 of Triplemania, Psycho filled in for an injured
Panic Clown ot defend the AAA Trios Titles, but Carnicero
got involved and Psycho abandoned Murder and Dave (the
Clown), which resulted in them losing the titles to Los
Perros Del Mal. So Psycho may not have the backup he’s used
to when taking on the monster. It should also be noted that
El Carnicero has been stalking the Psycho Circus since
February, so there’s a lot of tension for this match.
Carnicero started taking out everyone at ringside during
Psycho’s entrance, but that just let Psycho get the drop on
him and threw hands until Carnicero caught him with a big
boot and threw Psycho across the ring. Psycho grabbed a
kendo stick and broke it over Carnicero’s back. Carnicero
grabbed the stick and destroyed it before Psycho dropkicked
him to the floor.
Psycho went for a suicida but Carnicero threw a trash can at
his head to stop him mid-dive. Carnicero started throwing
forearms and clotheslines before taking a chair and bending
it over Psycho’s back. He drove the chair into Psycho’s
midsection again and again before going to drop a leg.
Psycho moved the chair though and Carnicero crotched himself
on it.
Psycho beat Carnicero with the chair before going under the
ring for a table (yes, it was a Slim Jim Official Table).
Psycho set it up in the ring and went to hit Carnicero with
the chair, but Carnicero punched it out of his hand and
flattened Psycho before setting the chair up in the ropes in
the corner.
Psycho dodged a charge though and Carnicero ran into his own
chair. Psycho then hit him with the trash can and laid him
out on the Slim Jim Official Table before climbing up top
and splashing Carnicero through it! Psycho went for a pin,
but Carnicero kicked out at two.
They got to their feet and threw hands until Psycho pulled
his face off (it’s a thing he does). Psycho grabbed a can,
but Carnicero hit the can into Psycho with a big boot.
Carnicero wrapped Psycho up in the ropes and went to charge
at him, but stopped short and smiled. He went under the ring
and grabbed a toolbox, tossing it into the ring.
Suddenly, Pagano returned! Pagano grabbed a Kendo stick and
jumped in the ring between Carnicero and Psycho. But then,
shocking us all, Pagano stepped to the side and let
Carcinero deck Psycho with the toolbox! Carnicero made the
cover and got the victory, thanks to Pagano.
Match Result: El Carnicero defeated Psycho Clown
After the match, Pagano handed Carnicero the kendo stick and
he beat Psycho with it until it was in splinters.
OH MY GOD! The betrayal of Psycho Clown by the coward Pagano
was a massive shock! This was a great match, not too long
and just the right amount of violence, but oh man! I am
stunned at what’s happened to the Psycho Circus and can only
imagine what it might mean going forward.
-Backstage, Dorian Roldan, Omos and AAA Mega Champion
Dominik Mysterio were talking about the evening, celebrating
Omos’ win. Dom told Omos that he could stay in the back
during his match with El Grande Americano because he’s got
it in the bag.
AAA World Cruiserweight Championship Fatal 4-Way Match: Rey
Fenix (c) vs. Nathan Frazer vs. Jack Cartwheel vs. Mini
Vikingo
At Ola de Calor, Frazer, Cartwheel and Vikingo tore it up in
a three way #1 Contender’s match that unfortunately (or
fortunately, given how good it was) went to a time limit
draw. Fenix then came out to say that they were all
deserving of a title shot and this Fatal 4-Way was booked.
Fenix volunteering to take on three opponents says that he’s
ready willing and able to take on the best of the best. This
should easily be the match of the night, provided Vikingo,
Cartwheel and Frazer aren’t too burned out from their
matches on Night 1 of Triplemania.
Before the match started, we were informed that the Main
Event tonight will be a No DQ match!
The bell rang and Cartwheel went for a quick cover, but
couldn’t get a one. Vikingo took him out and countered a
sunset flip from Frazer. Cartwheel hit a neckbreaker on
Fenix and then swept Frazer’s legs before delivering a
Slamstand. He hit a rolling senton on Frazer but could only
get a two count.
Frazer caught Cartwheel with a slingblade and and then
dropped Vikingo for a two count. Fenix kicked Fazer to the
outside and then ran into a superkick from Vikingo. Vikingo
sent Cartwheel and Frazer out before hitting a destroyer on
Fenix for a two count. Vikingo then hit a tornado dive from
the ringpost onto Frazer and Cartwheel on the outside.
Back in the ring, Vikingo set up Fenix in the corner for a
poisonrana, but Fenix kicked out of the cover at two.
Vikingo went up top, but Fenix hit him with an uppercut.
Frazer and Cartwheel tried a double team but Fenix hit them
with a double cutter before kick Vikingo in the face from
the apron before taking him down with a moonsault.
Cartwheel caught Fenix with a kick, but Fenix came back with
a slam. Frazer tried to get into it but Fenix nailed him
with a flip and got a two count off the cover. Frazer then
took out Cartwheel and Vikingo before diving through the
ropes onto Fenix. He quickly threw him back in the ring and
went up top, but Fenix met him there and Super German
Suplexed him.
Fenix ran into a superkick, but Frazer could only get a two
count out of it. Cartwheel came in a tried to steal one with
a rollup, but couldn’t get the pin. Frazer sent him over the
top rope then went for a springboard dove, but Vikingo and
Cartwheel moved on the outside and he landed face first on
the announce table.
Fenix went up top, but Cartwheel ripped him down with a
powerbomb. Vikingo then took out Cartwheel and hit a
Crucifix driver on Fenix from the top. Cartwheel hit him
with a destroyer, then went up top and twisting-splashed
Fenix, but Frazer broke up the count.
All four staggered to their feet and started spamming chops
around in a circle. Then they went to superkicks. Then a
barraged of strikes from all angles left all four laying in
the middle of the ring.
Fenix sent Cartwheel to the corner and set him up for the
Mexican Muscle Buster. He nailed him, but Vikingo flew in
out of nowhere with a shooting star press and broke up the
count. Vikingo grabbed Cartwheel for a two count as well.
Fenix sent Vikingo to the corner and went for a second-rope
Mexican Muscle Buster on him. Frazer grabbed Fenix though
and and powerbombed them both to the mat.
Cartwheel came back in and rocked Frazer, throwing him into
the corner. Cartwheel then cartwheeled over the top rope to
take out Fenix and Vikingo on the outside before climbing up
for Jack’s Arrow from the top rope on Frazer. He went for
the cover, but Frazker kicked out.
Vikingo came in and went up top hitting a twisting 450 on
Cartwheel. Fenix grabbed him off of it for a Mexican Muscle
Buster and made the cover 1-2-3 to retain his Cruiserweight
Title.
Match Result: Rey Fenix defeated Nathan Frazer, Jack
Cartwheel and Mini Vikingo
Holy Hell!! That was an incredible match with all four
participants having Superstar written all over them. It was
amazing, stupendous and outstanding and if you have the
time, go watch it on youtube. I’d say more, but:
-Backstage, new Trios Champions Perros Del Mal roughed up a
production guy and made him play their music. They marched
to the ring and beat the hell out of Vikingo, Frazer and
Cartwheel. Perros Del Mal stood on the Ringposts and put the
word out, God forgives, Los Perros do not.
AAA World Tag Team Championship Open Challenge: The War
Raiders (Erik & Ivar) vs. TBD
Erik & Ivar won the AAA Tag titles at May’s Noche de Los
Grandes, by defeating Pagano and Psycho Clown. Since then,
they have pretty much dominated the Tag Scene in AAA, but
that same scene has been bursting at the seams with great
tag teams lately.
And who answered the call? Brothers El Hijo de Dr Wagner Jr
and Galeno!
AAA World Tag Team Championship Open Challenge: The War
Raiders (Erik & Ivar) (c) vs. El Hijo de Dr Wagner Jr &
Galeno
Wagner and Erik kicked things off with Wagner running off
the ropes and dropping Erik. Ivar tagged in and they traded
punches. Wagner tagged Galeno and they double teamed Ivar.
Galeno went for an early cover but Ivar kicked out. Ivar
then rolled out of the ring ring to regroup, but Wagner
kicked Erik off the corner, allowing Ivar to grab him and
send him into the barricades.
Ivar rolled Wagner back into the ring and went for a cover,
but Wagner kicked out at two. Erik tagged in and the Raiders
beat on Wager next to the ropes. Erik ran over and hit
Galeno with a right in the corner before putting Wagner in a
face lock. Wagner fought out of it but he and Erik caught
each other with a double clothesline.
Galeno tagged in and battered Ivar in the corner. He scoop
slammed Erik and hit him with a splash off the ropes. Ivar
came back into it and dropped Galeno before going up top for
a freakin’ moonsault for two! Erik tagged in and Galeno
turned the tides and got a tag to Wagner. Wagner ran into
Ivar though who clobbered him for a two count.
The War Raiders hit a double powerbomb on Wagner, but Galeno
ran in to break it up. Galeno dropped his straps and dove
over the top rope to take out the Raiders on the outside. He
threw Erik back into Wagner who hit him with a Wagner
Driver. Galeno followed that with a splash from up top and
1-2-3 they are new Tag Team Champions!
Match Result: El Hijo de Dr Wagner Jr & Galeno defeated The
War Raiders
That was a great and a genuine surprise win! It was a great
length too, not too long and hard hitting. It fit in really
well coming off the Cruiserweight title and didn’t overstay
it’s welcome leading into the main event. This whole show
has abeen perfectly timed out and not a minute feels wasted.
So good! And now all that’s left is:
AAA Mega Championship No DQ Match: Dominik Mysterio (c) w/
Dorian Roldan vs. El Grande Americano
El Grande Americano defied the odds at Rey de Reyes by
defeating La Parka, Santos Escobar, and “OG” El Grande
Americano in a fatal four-way match to secure this
championship opportunity (and a really baller sword). Then,
at Verano de Escándalo, Americano reluctantly joined forces
with Dominik Mysterio to revive Los Gringos Locos (2.0) in a
tag match against Los Perros del Mal, but Dominik deserted
his partner mid-match before announcing his new alliance
with Omos and Dorian Roldán.
At Ola de Calor, things escalated during a (sigh) contract
signing where Americano challenged Dominik to prove he
deserved his “King of the Luchadores” title. When Dominik
balked at signing, General Manager Rey Mysterio threatened
to strip him of the belt; however, Americano refused to
accept the title on a technicality. Once Rey Mysterio and
Omos made their own match for Night 1 of Triplemania,
Dominik relented and signed the contract to make the
championship defense against Americano official.
Then, to make matters even more dire for Americano, Omos
violently won his match against Rey Mysterio on Night 1 of
Triplemania meaning he has been reinstated to AAA and can be
at ringside for this match. With Rey out of the picture,
we’ll have to see if anyone can step up and watch
Americano’s back.
The bell rang and Americano dropkicked Dom right in the
face. He whipped him from corner to corner, delivering shots
at every turn. Americano sent Dom to the outside and bounced
his head off all the announce tables. He hit him with a big
right hand then clotheslined him over the barricades.
They fought up and into the crowd where Americano hit Dom’s
head off of the steel railing. Dom went for the eyes though
and turned the tables, dragging Americano back to the
ringside area. Dom chopped Americano against the apron, but
Americano came back and threw Dom into the steel steps.
Americano then pull the upper stair off and set up Dom for a
piledriver. Dom got out of it though and swept the leg,
sending Americano crashing to the steel. He grabbed a chair
and smacked it across Americano’s midsection before tearing
Americano’s singlet.
Americano got back in the ring and Dom followed with the
chair, walloping Americano repeatedly. Americano tripped Dom
up though and pummelled him with shots. Dom countered it and
grabbed the chair again, laying in even more shots with the
steel. Roldan then passed Dom his belt (his pants belt, not
the title belt) and Dom whipped him with the leather over
and over again.
Americano grabbed the belt and Dom tugged at it, but he
wouldn’t let it go. Americano used the belt to pull Dom in
for a clothesline. He then peppered him with punches in the
corner and hit an insiguri for a two count. Americano
grabbed the belt and returned the favor, whipping Dom
repeatedly before hitting a rolling senton and a kick to the
face for two.
Americano grabbed Dom by the hair and wrapped the belt
around his neck. He choke dhim as Roldan jumped up on the
apron to distract the ref. JD McDonnagh showed up and
punched Americano, opening him up for a 619 by Dom. Rayo and
Bravo Americano ran down to run off JD. Bravo scaled the
antrance screen and dove onto JD and a bunch of security.
Back in the ring, Americano hit an Air Raid Crash, but Dom
wasn’t done yet and kicked out at two. Bravo and Rayo walked
back to the ring, but the shadow of Omos fell onto both of
them and he took them out on the ramp. Americano dove
through the ropes at Omos, but it had no effect and he
grabbed Americano and ran him into the ringpost.
Omos stalked Americano around the ring before lifting him up
for a chokeslam. Americano poked Omos in the eyes and then
dropped to low-blow him. Americano grabbed a chair and hit
Omos over and over and over again until he fell to his knees
at the barricade.
Omos charged Americano, but Americano moved and Omos ran
himself through the barricade. Americano went back into the
ring where Dom tried to low blow him, but Americano dodged
it and nailed Dom with a running headbutt. The ref counted,
but Dom managed to kick out at two.
Americano went up top, but Dom met him there. They traded
shots on the ring post until Americano shoved Dom to the mat
and then suddenly Liv Morgan ran down and knocked Americano
off the post. That let Dom 619 him again and then go up for
a frog splash. Dom made the cover, but Americano kicked out
at 2.5.
Americano and Dom fought in the middle of the ring, with
Americano accidentally taking out the ref. Liv grabbed the
title belt and slid it to Dom. Dom clocked Americano with it
then went up top for another frog splash, but Americano
moved out of the way. He picked up speed and hit a second
running headbutt, but there was no official to make the
count.
Suddenly, in a neck brace and refs jersey, Rey Mysterio ran
to the ring and counted 1-2-3 to make El Grande Americano
the new AAA Mega Champion!!
Match Result: El Grande Americano defeated Dominik Mysterio
After the match, a full mariachi band came out to serenade
the new Mega Champion who sat in the ring, tearfully
clutching his newly won belt. He hugged Rey and stood atop
the ringpost, sharing the victory with all of Mexico and
fans everywhere.
