In a new entry on her latest edition of Mone Mag, Mercedes
Mone revealed that she was in negotiations with WWE all the
way up to All In 2023, where she made an appearance for AEW
sitting in the stands.
“At the time, I was still going back and forth in talks with
WWE when I got an invitation to go to All In London,” Mone
wrote. She said that there was no way she was going to miss
the opportunity to go and see a wrestling show that big
which did not carry the WWE logo.
Mone noted that she met AEW President Tony Khan backstage
and he wanted her to do a segment with Willow Nightingale.
While she was excited to do it, she eventually opted not to
as she was not signed to the company and didn’t work there
and was just at the show to enjoy it as a fan.
“And for once… I got to be a FAN,” Mone added. “Do you
understand how rare that is for me? I never really got the
opportunity to sit in the crowd and just be a fan at
WrestleMania. Okay… MAYBE there was one time I went in
disguise for Bayley’s match. But that’s another story.”
She added that being at All In sealed the deal for her and
when she went back home, she was sure that AEW was the place
for her moving forward.
Mone is set to wrestle for the AEW Women’s title at All In
later this month, coincidentally enough against Willow
Nightingale
