AEW Dynamite was LIVE from the Masonic Temple Theatre in
Detroit, Michigan, on TBS and HBO Max for the first of back-
to-back nights! There was plenty of fallout from AEW
Redemption, and all the focus is on AEW All In: London! But
tonight, there was a lot to settle, including four
championship matches.
The night began with Will Ospreay and the Death Riders
coming face-to-face, which confirmed Ospreay’s exit from the
Death Riders. Ospreay wound up getting some advice just
minutes later from “Hangman” Adam Page, but Ospreay blew it
off. Later in the night, Ospreay and AEW World Champion
Kenny Omega had a heated argument that nearly came to big
blows.
NEW AEW Women’s World Champion Willow Nightingale had her
celebration interrupted by Mercedes Moné, who demanded
Nightingale sign their All In: London contract on the spot.
Nightingale did, and after a verbal back-and-forth,
Nightingale got laid out by Moné and AEW Women’s World Tag
Team Champions Divine Dominion!
Plus, The Demand won the AEW World Trios Titles from The
Conglomeration thanks to a big assist from The Lethal Twist,
TBS Champion Maya World retained her title over CMLL World
Women’s Champion Persephone, and Andrade El Ídolo beat Nick
Wayne and “Jungle” Jack Perry to defend his AEW National
Title!
All that and so much more went down on a huge night in
Detroit for Dynamite! Here are your complete results!
We took a look back at the events after the main event of
Redemption, which saw Will Ospreay turn his back on the
Death Riders, and Jon Moxley’s reaction to Kenny Omega
dropping Ospreay with the One-Winged Angel. Moxley watched
on a monitor with the Death Riders and was begging Ospreay
to drop Omega, but Omega did it first, just as Moxley
predicted. Moxley said that after all this, Ospreay might be
the best wrestler in the world with nothing to lose.
“Will Ospreay is truly on death ground.”
Will Ospreay Confronted by Death Riders … and has a Surprise
Conversation with “Hangman” Adam Page
Renee Paquette was waiting for Ospreay to show up and get a
word. She asked about what happened with Omega. Ospreay said
he knew she was doing her job, but he wasn’t in the mood to
answer any questions. As Ospreay continued down the tunnel
he was in, he looked ahead and saw the Death Riders coming
at him. Moxley walked up to Ospreay, but Daniel Garcia spoke
first, “Hey, Young Boy Billy…” Ospreay cut him off with a
back elbow to the side of the head! PAC immediately tried to
go after Ospreay, but Moxley held him back.
Moxley finally said, “Are you sure you wanna do that?”
Ospreay got closer to Moxley and said, “You don’t get to
pull the trigger for me.” He pressed the Death Riders patch
into Moxley’s chest, the same patch Moxley gave him weeks
ago to welcome him to the Death Riders. “I’m out.”
Moxley said, “Is that so? Well, it looks like you’ve got it
all figured out then.”
Moxley had everyone get out of Ospreay's way, and Paquette
tried to follow up, but Ospreay ran into “Hangman” Adam
Page! Page said he was going to give Ospreay a hand for no
longer working with those guys. Page wanted to catch up and
said he knows what it’s like to be in Ospreay’s shoes right
now with the entire world in front of him. It feels
impossible to do it alone, and that’s not how half the
roster let Hangman feel last year. It’s not how Ospreay let
him feel. Page won’t stick his nose in Ospreay’s business,
and the AEW World Championship is not going to be something
that Page is focused on anymore, but if Ospreay needs
anything, he should let Page know.
Ospreay said he appreciates it, but has a lot on his plate
right now with the United Empire mad at him, the Death
Riders breathing down his neck and he can’t trust Kenny, so
he can’t trust Hangman. He appreciates it, but he’s going to
do it on his own. Page stopped him and said, "I knew it,"
with the look on Ospreay’s face. Ospreay’s one of the best
Page has ever been in the ring with, but for Page, the
deciding factor is, you believe. Page knows Ospreay will
walk into Wembley, the bell will ring, and Ospreay will be
the best he’s ever been.
“Or you’re gonna die. Sorry, I’m kidding. You got this. I
mean it, you got it.”
Ospreay said thanks and walked into the building.
AEW National Championship 3-Way Match: Andrade El Ídolo (c)
def. "Jungle" Jack Perry, Nick Wayne
After that unpredictable start to Dynamite, it was time to
head to the ring for our opening contest! There was a huge
“HOW YOU KNOW?” chant right before the bell! Perry
immediately dropped Andrade with a superkick! He rolled up
Wayne for a two-count, but Wayne came back with a flying
back elbow. Andrade hit the first of Three Amigos on Wayne,
but Perry tried to help Wayne suplex Andrade. Andrade
blocked it and suplexed both of them instead! Detroit loved
it!
Wayne cradled Andrade for a near fall, so Andrade sent Wayne
to the floor with a hurricanrana. Perry whipped Andrade to
the ropes, but he hung in them for a tranquilo pose! Perry
slipped under Andrade and dropped Wayne with a bulldog on
the floor! Andrade followed over the top with a crossbody to
take Perry down. Andrade took a selfie with an admirer and
then ate a Sliced Bread #2 from Wayne off the barricade!
Perry nailed Wayne and threw him into the ring for a pin
attempt, but Wayne kicked out at one. Perry hit a few
strikes on Wayne, so Wayne pulled him down by the hair.
Andrade leveled Wayne, then Perry, then Wayne again! Andrade
sprang back to his feet and hit Three Amigos on Perry!
With Perry down in the corner, Andrade measured him for a
meteora, but Wayne cut him off with a Spanish Fly! Perry
dropkicked Wayne to the corner! After taking Andrade down on
the outside, Perry and Wayne battled on the top turnbuckle
until Andrade came back out of nowhere with a kick to the
back of Wayne! He pulled Wayne down with a powerbomb and
returned to the corner and fought with Wayne on the ropes.
Andrade got knocked down to the apron and stopped Wayne with
a gamengiri. Perry came off the turnbuckles to hurricanrana
Andrade from the apron to the floor! Wayne planted Perry
with a suicide Canadian Destroyer!
Wayne threw Andrade back in and hit him with the Prodigy
Plex! Perry made the save on the pin attempt! All three men
met in the middle with strikes until Perry and Wayne
superkicked Andrade at the same time, only for Andrade to
shake it off with a double clothesline! Andrade crushed
Perry in the corner with a meteora, which got a near-fall.
Andrade put Perry on the top turnbuckle, but Perry turned
into a kick from Wayne. Wayne charged at Andrade, who threw
him overhead into Perry on the top turnbuckle, but when
Wayne tried to take Perry down with a hurricanrana, Perry
spiked Andrade with a tornado DDT on the way down! Perry
nailed Wayne with a poisonrana! Perry hit Andrade with a
dive! Perry hit Wayne with a dive! Perry took out both with
a dive! Perry quickly scaled the ropes and landed on both
Wayne and Andrade with a moonsault! Perry powerbombed Wayne
for a near-fall!
Perry missed a charging knee to Wayne, which allowed Andrade
to clothesline him over the top. Andrade put Wayne down with
the clothesline backbreaker and went to the top rope. A frog
splash landed on Wayne’s knees! Wayne went up top and
connected with a Phoenix Splash on Andrade! Perry broke up
the pin! Perry lined up Andrade for a running knee, but
Andrade countered with Dia de Los Muertos to knock Perry out
of the ring! Wayne rolled up Andrade with his feet on the
ropes, but still only got a two-count! Andrade reversed
Wayne into The DM and scored the pinfall before Perry could
break it up! Andrade has his first title defense!
Tony Schiavone joined Andrade in the ring to ask him how he
was feeling.
“I feel tranquiloooooooo! You know why? Because I screwed
MJF!”
He kissed the Dynamite Diamond Ring!
“I screwed Don Callis!”
He then pointed at the National Title and said he would
fight anyone and be the best National Champion ever.
Schiavone asked him about the newly announced Men’s Casino
Gauntlet at All In: London and if he would be interested in
vying for the #1 spot next week in Mexico City at Grand
Slam: Mexico?
Andrade had one question, and the crowd was already chanting
it.
“HOW YOU KNOW?”
Brawling Birds Want Divine Dominion and will face MIT on
Collision!
Paquette tried to ask about everything we’ve heard from the
AEW Women’s World Tag Team Champions, Divine Dominion, but
Windsor said they talk too much. Hayter said this isn’t “All
Elite Talking,” and they know what they want. They are both
undefeated, and the Birds want their AEW Women’s World Tag
Team Titles. Hayter challenged any members of MIT to face
them on Collision. And as for “Colossal” Lena Kross and
“Megasus” Megan Bayne, be ready to brawl!
Championship Tension in the Don Callis Family?
Renee Paquette asked Don Callis if tonight’s trios match
would be a chance to get back some momentum after
Redemption. Kyle Fletcher jumped in and reminded Paquette
that he won his match on Sunday and didn’t need anyone
else’s help. Callis said you sometimes take losses, and Mark
Davis is angry. And as for Knight, he said he didn’t need
family, but Callis said we all need family, and the sky is
still the limit for Knight.
Knight said he hated to lose, but it felt good to go toe-to-
toe with the best ever in the main event. It won’t be the
last time, but he can step back and enjoy the little things,
like still being the TNT Champion. But will Fletcher still
be champion after he faces “Speedball” Mike Bailey next
week? Bailey and Fletcher are 1-1, so is Fletcher worried?
Fletcher said he’s not worried about any trouble, and Knight
should worry about keeping his TNT Title because the AEW
International Championship will never leave the Family.
Kazuchika Okada walked in and said, “Kyle is right. The
International Championship will always stay in the Family,”
Okada walked away, and Fletcher was somewhat annoyed, but
his music hit for the next match.
Brodido (Brody King and ROH World Champion Bandido) &
"Speedball" Mike Bailey def. Don Callis Family (AEW
International Champion "The Protostar" Kyle Fletcher, Brian
Cage and Jake Doyle)
King and Fletcher faced off to open things up, but King used
shoulder blocks to take Fletcher down. Fletcher worked King
into the DCF corner, so King and Doyle could hit a double
suplex on King. Fletcher tagged back in, but King elbowed
his way out of the corner and tagged Bailey! Bailey wrenched
Fletcher’s arm and tagged Bandido, who came off the top with
an axe-handle smash. Bandido, King and Bailey all hit
running attacks on Fletcher in the corner, and then King
took out Doyle and Cage with a massive crossbody!
King floored Fletcher with a massive lariat. Bandido rolled
through a frog splash attempt and reversed Fletcher’s suplex
attempt into one of his own in an amazing feat of strength!
Bandido hammered Fletcher in the corner, so Doyle came over,
but Bandido hit him with a kick. Cage came over and pulled
Bandido off the apron to powerbomb him into the ring post!
Fletcher continued to dominate Bandido in the ring, as DCF
singled out the ROH World Champion. Fletcher tried to lawn
dart Bandido, but Bandido knocked Fletcher into the corner
and reversed Fletcher into a big DDT! Bandido tried to make
the tag, but Cage tagged in first and pulled him back for a
suplex. Bandido escaped and tagged King. He lit up Doyle and
Cage with a barrage of shots and then a double splash in the
corner followed by a double cannonball! The crowd chanted
“MEAT” with each strike! King covered Cage for a near-fall!
King threw a huge lariat to take down Cage and tagged
Bailey. Cage escaped from Bailey's moonsault knees attempt
and powerbombed him to the DCF corner. Fletcher tagged in
and sent Cage into the corner at Bailey. He threw Bailey
back to the middle of the ring with a German suplex, and
Fletcher hit a running knee to the side of Bailey’s head!
Fletcher covered, but Brodido broke it up! Cage rocked King
and knocked him from the ring. Fletcher talked trash to
Bailey, but Bailey nearly jackknifed him for a near-fall.
Fletcher came right back with a near-fall of his own! Bailey
hit a roundhouse kick to block Fletcher’s kick, but Fletcher
caught Bailey’s next kick and tried to powerbomb him, which
Bailey reversed into a hurricanrana. He rolled through it
and kicked Fletcher in the head and immediately followed
with moonsault knees! Fletcher came back with a lawn dart,
but when he charged at Bailey, Bailey dropped him with a
thrust kick to the chin! Both men collapsed, and the crowd
roared in approval!
Bandido and Doyle tagged in at the same time, but Bandido
quickly took advantage and gave Doyle a gorilla press slam
followed by a frog splash! But Doyle rolled through and
slammed Bandido with a body block! King leveled Doyle with
an elbow! Cage hit King with a tornado fireman’s carry slam!
Bailey kicked Cage out of the ring, but walked into a big
kick from Fletcher. Fletcher threw Bailey to the ropes and
slid under him, but Bailey adjusted and nailed Fletcher with
a huge moonsault!
Back in the ring, Bandido nearly captured Doyle for a three-
count. Doyle was in position for a 21 Plex, but got up in
time to crack Bandido to break it up. Doyle tried to
powerbomb Bandido, but Bailey came off the top with Ultima
Weapon onto Doyle’s back! Bailey trapped Doyle in a pin and
got the win! He stared down Fletcher ahead of their AEW
International Title match next week at Grand Slam: Mexico!
Cage & Cope Trade All In Motivations with the Young Bucks
Renee Paquette sat down with the AEW World Tag Team
Champions and their challengers for All In: London. Paquette
talked about how exciting this upcoming match was, as it was
at the top of the list of dream matches. She asked the Bucks
how they felt first, and Nick said he was nervous. They are
bringing their families to see it because the night means so
much to them. They are honored to have had the match and
said Cage and Cope revolutionized tag team wrestling. And
they feel like they kinda did the same. Cope said they did,
and he’ll say it for them. Cope said they are looking
forward to this too, because they kept tag team wrestling
alive. Cage jumped in and explained what it meant to them.
They didn’t come back for a greatest hits or retirement
tour. And now that they are tag team champions, not only are
they the best tag team of their generation, but the Bucks’
generation as well.
“I also wanna throw in there, it’s good that your wives are
coming.”
Matt said all of that is debatable and this is about legacy.
For Cage and Cope, they are made men. The Bucks are still
making their legacy, and it’s about the AEW World Tag Team
Titles. If they win them again, they’ll be the most
decorated tag team in AEW history. They’ve been battling to
get those titles back for two years. They had a shot in LA
against FTR, and they blew it. Cage and Cope were there to
see it. Cope can appreciate that, because between Cage and
Cope, they lost 17 years of their career. They didn’t win
tag titles for 25 years. He understands what Matt is saying,
but please don’t play the comparison game. Matt said what
he’s about to say can be taken as a warning: there isn’t a
thing or anybody who will come between winning those titles
for a record-breaking fourth time.
This isn’t like Kobe Bryant scoring big in the final game in
his career: “You guys will be lucky to get on the board at
Wembley because we’re gonna be coming at you harder, faster,
stronger, more than we’ve come at anybody ever in our career
because that’s our legacy, those.” Matt pointed at the gold
across the waists of Cage and Cope. Cage said it sounds like
Matt is trying to talk himself into it. It will be different
when the music fades, and they are staring across the ring
at their heroes. Will they be able to lift their game to
another level like Cage and Cope always do?
“We know how great you are. And to be the greatest, we have
to beat you, and at Wembley, that’s exactly what will
happen.”
Paquette asked Cage and Cope about being on the second run
of their career and why it would mean so much to retain
against the Bucks at Wembley. Cope said it’s because they
are doubted at this stage, even with everything they’ve
done, there’s still doubt, but not to them. Paquette asked
if the Bucks feel doubted, and Matt explained all the ways
they’ve been criticized, but this is what they do. He knows
Cage and Cope are bigger, taller and have more experience
than them.
“But we can’t forget, we’re Matt and Nick Jackson. We’re the
Young Bucks, baby, and we’ve been doing this for a long
time, too.”
Cope said he looks forward to it.
TBS Championship Match: Maya World (c) def. CMLL World
Women’s Champion Persephone
This was World’s first defense after winning the TBS Title
from Hikaru Shida at Redemption just three days ago on her
birthday! World and Persephone traded reversals and near-
falls until World grabbed control with an armdrag and back
elbow. Persephone changed the complexion of the match on the
outside by dropping World face first onto the apron!
Persephone remained in control and tried to grind World down
with an ankle lock. World escaped and got a pair of one-
counts. She rolled through and stomped Persephone in the
chest! World followed with a Shining Wizard for a two-count!
Persephone escaped from World’s grasp and threw her to the
floor with a fallaway slam. Persephone clobbered World with
a dive to the floor! She threw World back in, so World came
back with double boots, but Persephone caught it. World
kicked free and spiked Persephone with a DDT on the floor!
Back in the ring, Persephone threw a massive desperation
lariat that connected, and both women were down!
Persephone trapped World’s leg for a bridging German suplex
to get a near-fall. She argued with the referee about the
count and ran into a pair of boots from World in the corner,
who quickly followed with a moonsault. Hikaru Shida showed
up and slipped her kendo stick under Persephone and got on
the apron. World came over to confront Shida while the
referee tried to get Shida to leave. Persephone went to pick
up the kendo stick, but Kris Statlander appeared out of
nowhere and pulled it away from Persephone! World grabbed
Persephone and pinned her with a bridging fallaway slam to
get the win! Statlander raised World’s hand after the match
as Persephone yelled from the floor.
Mark Davis Wants Will Ospreay at Grand Slam: Mexico!
Davis said he suffered a personal embarrassment by losing
the AEW National Championship, and now he needs to do
something about it. He called out Will Ospreay and their 1-1
record against each other, although Ospreay’s win, he said,
came with a big asterisk because of Death Riders’
interference. Davis said he’ll leave the Don Callis Family
home, and next week, he and Ospreay will go one-on-one at
Grand Slam: Mexico!
Mercedes Moné and Divine Dominion Crash Willow Nightingale’s
Championship Celebration
Renee Paquette was in the ring and introduced the NEW AEW
Women’s World Champion, Willow Nightingale, who was showered
in streamers while being showered in “YOU DESERVE IT”
chants. Paquette asked what it meant to win the title and
become the first women’s triple crown winner. Nightingale
took the mic with tears in her eyes and said, “You guys are
all far too kind. Really!”
The crowd continued to give Nightingale a standing ovation
as she was overcome with emotion!
She said thank you and that this was still all surreal.
She’s living her dream. People looked at her, and for
whatever reason, they doubted her. This past year,
apparently, she made everyone very happy. Then she asked
everyone to understand that the makeup team had worked very
hard on her look, even though the disruption was clearly
tears of joy. She had a strong year, including winning the
AEW Women’s World Tag Team Title and beating Mercedes Moné
for the TBS Title. Then she got hurt, and her mom helped her
come back. Then she came back and beat a dangerous, toxic
champion in Thekla!
“If life has been kicking you around, don’t you dare give
up. Don’t do it! Keep fighting, keep pushing through because
sometimes the comeback is even better than the dream!
Mercedes Moné made her way to the ring with a contract in
hand, knocking away the streamers, as Detroit rained down
boos! Moné said she didn’t come out to ruin the celebration;
she came out for business, so sign the damn contract now!
The crowd continued to boo, but stopped when Willow signed
the contract while leaning on Moné’s chest! Moné knocked the
contract away, and the two got face-to-face until Paquette
announced that their match at All In: London for the AEW
Women’s World Championship was official. Paquette left, so
Willow asked what Moné’s problem was. Was it because she
didn’t get all the attention? Or is she angry because Willow
beat Moné and ended her 584-day TBS Title reign? Or is it
because Willow has the one title Moné can’t get!
Moné said the reason she hates Willow so much is that her
name is written all over Moné’s story. When Moné got hurt
and her career stopped, everyone celebrated Willow. Moné
chose AEW; she had to go through to Willow. When she became
the greatest TBS Champion of all time, who took it all away
from her? That’s right, Willow! The crowd decided drowning
out Moné in boos wasn’t enough and turned it into a “SHUT
THE F*** UP” chant!
Moné said she’s finally going to end Willow’s fairy tale at
All In. The reason they all cheer for her is that she stood
across the ring from Moné. Moné wants Willow to admit that
she made and elevated Willow – and gave her the greatest
moment of her career.
“At All In, Willow, I’m not just gonna take this damn title.
I’m gonna take this damn smile, too!”
Moné piefaced Willow, and the two began arguing until AEW
Women’s World Tag Team Champions Divine Dominion showed up
on the apron. Moné tried to take the first shot, but Willow
blocked it and decked Moné! Willow tried to fight off all
three women, but was dropped by Lena Kross and Megan Bayne
with Divine Intervention! The Brawling Birds hit the ring to
run off Moné and Divine Dominion!
AEW Continental Championship Match: Death Riders' Jon Moxley
(c) def. Komander
After starting with some mat wrestling, Moxley took Komander
down multiple times by overpowering him. Komander nearly
stole the match by trapping Moxley for a three-count. He
went to the top rope and spun off with an arm drag, but
Moxley was right back up and chopped Komander to the mat.
Komander turned things around with a hurricanrana, sending
Moxley to the outside. Komander walked the ropes, so Moxley
walked away. Komander adjusted his game plan and nailed Mox
with a suicide dive!
Moxley quickly turned things around and punished Komander on
the floor before bringing him back to the ring. Moxley tried
to grind Komander down, but Komander was tough to keep on
the mat. Komander hit a double springboard dropkick,
followed by a fantastic kick combination and a flying
crossbody for a near-fall. Komander ran up the ropes and
flipped away from Moxley with majesty, so Moxley immediately
dropped him with a cutter! Moxley mounted Komander for
punches in the corner and bit at Komander’s head while the
10-minute warning was announced.
Komander escaped Moxley and hanged him over the top rope for
a guillotine leg drop! Moxie charged at Komander and hit the
barricade. Komander threw Mox back in and hit a springboard
450 splash for a near-fall! Komander knocked Mox out of the
ring with a thrust kick, so he tried the tight-rope walk
again and landed the spaceman plancha! Komander missed a
tight-rope shooting star press, so Mox stomped his head into
the mat and nailed a Death Rider! He choked out Komander for
the submission victory!
Bang Bang Gang Challenge The Dogs and Death Riders for
Collision
Mick Foley was with Bang Bang Gang and noted that the mood
was different and Jay White wasn’t with them after losing
the Double Chain match to The Dogs at Redemption. Ace Austin
said that under any other circumstances, they’d be happy to
be there, but they have big problems. Colten Gunn and Juice
Robinson called out The Dogs and Death Riders to face them
tomorrow on Collision to finish what they started! Austin
Gunn said, " If you aren’t down with that, we’ve got two
words for you. "
Foley said, “Bang bang!” Austin Gunn said, on any other
night, yes, but tonight, it’s “Gunns Up!”
AEW World Trios Championship Match: The Demand (Ricochet,
Bishop Kaun and Toa Liona) def. The Conglomeration (Orange
Cassidy, Kyle O'Reilly and Roderick Strong) (c)
The Demand decided to attack during their entrance, and all
six men fought around the ring before the bell even rang!
Toa Liona missed a huge charge and nailed the steel steps!
Strong had Kaun draped over his knee, so Cassidy decided to
get down from the top rope and drop an elbow on the floor to
Kaun. The Conglomeration started to celebrate, but Ricochet
came flying off the stage and took them all out with a
somersault dive!
Liona and Cassidy started things as the bell finally rang to
start this title match! Cassidy put his hands in his
pockets, so Liona reached into Cassidy’s pockets and lifted
him straight up in the air! Cassidy got back down and
knocked Liona to the ropes, so Kaun made a blind tag, and
Liona hit Cassidy with an elbow drop. OC dropkicked Kaun
away and threw his head at Strong to make a tag! Strong
cleared house and then used OC as a weapon on Liona and Kaun
in the corners, but when he tried to throw OC at Kaun again,
OC got caught and slammed into Strong!
Kaun slammed Liona onto Strong, and The Demand had full
control! Strong was isolated for a significant amount of
time until finally making the tag to O’Reilly. He took all
three members of The Demand down in quick succession,
including a nasty strike that sent Ricochet to the floor.
O’Reilly picked Kaun’s ankle, but he made it to the ropes so
Ricochet could tag back in. Ricochet kicked O’Reilly into
the ropes, so he rebounded and got nailed by Kaun. O’Reilly
rebounded again right into a headbutt from Liona. Kaun
slammed O’Reilly, and Ricochet hit a running shooting star
press for a near-fall!
O’Reilly fought out of the corner, but got leveled by
Ricochet. He made the tag to Cassidy, who went to the top
rope, but was met by a palm strike from Ricochet. Ricochet
went up to meet him, and Cassidy dug his fingers into
Ricochet’s bald head, so Ricochet fell to the mat. Kaun went
up after Cassidy, who got help from a rising kick by Strong.
Kaun turned things around with a superplex on Strong! Liona
missed a diving headbutt, and OC planted him with a diving
DDT from the top rope! Ricochet came down on Cassidy with a
springboard splash, but his pin attempt was broken up by
O’Reilly coming off the top with a knee!
Kaun fought off a double-team by O’Reilly and Strong until
they took him off his feet with Total Elimination! Ricochet
broke up the pin, but was quickly thrown to the floor. Liona
ran through O’Reilly and Strong with a double clothesline
and caught Cassidy from the top. Cassidy got away and tried
an Orange Punch, but it had no effect on Liona! Cassidy came
back with a Stundog Millionaire and hung on so Strong and
O’Reilly could double-team Liona with leg strikes. Cassidy
hit a second Orange Punch into a fireman’s carry slam by
Strong! The Lethal Twist hit the ring, so O’Reilly and
Strong met them on the apron. However, Blake Christian hit
Cassidy with one of the titles from the top rope, and the
referee never saw it! Ricochet finished Cassidy with a
Spirit Gun and pinned him to win the AEW World Trios
Titles!
The Demand and The Lethal Twist continued to attack The
Conglomeration after the match, so Brody King ran down to
help, but was quickly outmatched. “Hangman” Adam Page
arrived on the scene with a barbed wire steel chair and
cleared the ring! Lethal came back in to get the chair away
from Page, but hurt his hand on the barbs! Page booted
Lethal and jumped to the apron. King nailed Lethal again,
and the crowd came to their feet as Page hit a Buckshot
Lariat! The Demand celebrated with their titles up the ramp,
while Page held the ring with King and The Conglomeration!
Death Riders Send Messages to All Their Enemies
Wheeler Yuta and PAC answered Bang Bang Gang’s challenge for
Collision and said they’ll see them tomorrow night! Daniel
Garcia talked about Will Ospreay’s actions and how he always
leaves when things get hard, whether it was United Empire or
the Death Riders. Garcia said there’s a hard way in and a
hard way out, so he’ll see Ospreay soon. Moxley stepped in
and said what he loves is going to the ring and laying it
all on the line. He said backstage is abuzz with a mystery
tournament, The Continental Cup! Moxley said he has no idea
who he’ll be facing, but to the best wrestlers in the world,
bring it on because they run to the fire. If this is where
his Continental Championship run ends in a hail of bullets
and smoke and fire in the Continental Cup, then so be it.
Will Ospreay Confronts AEW World Champion Kenny Omega
Tony Schiavone introduced AEW World Champion Kenny Omega to
close out Dynamite! Schiavone handed Omega the microphone,
and he started to address what happened at Redemption, but
Will Ospreay marched to the ring. Omega said what he’s about
to say doesn’t need to be heard by anyone because it’s
personal and just for Ospreay. But instead, let’s make it
fun. He wanted to play show-and-tell, so when he gave
Ospreay a One-Winged Angel, he showed Ospreay how he felt.
And he thought Ospreay would get it, but seeing the angry
look on Ospreay’s face, it’s time to move on to the tell
part.
Omega reminded Ospreay of the promises they made to each
other to try their best and become champions. Omega always
put their friendship before the belt every single time, and
doesn’t Ospreay get why? It’s why Omega let Ospreay enter
the Owen Cup alone. Omega takes joy in seeing Ospreay have
success. So how did Ospreay repay him? He told Omega that it
sucks that he gave up on himself. He said Ospreay has no
idea how that cut him.
Omega held up the AEW World Championship and said, “Does
this look like I gave up?”
Omega said Ospreay won’t be one to talk down to him. He gave
Ospreay plenty of warnings about the Death Riders and Jon
Moxley, but Ospreay knew better. So what’s his excuse now?
Ospreay said he came back too early, for revenge – and let
revenge slip through his fingers. He lost his confidence and
felt like he had let everyone down because his body gave
out. He had no one to turn to, not even his own hero, Omega.
But Moxley was there to save him, and Ospreay looked at
Moxley not as the guy who broke his neck but as the former
world champion who could take him where he always wanted to
be.
Ospreay said he liked being a Death Rider. He liked the
camaraderie. He liked the training. It made him feel like
the old version of himself because he had killers watching
his back. He understood why they were so protective of this
place, but that’s where it ends, because he doesn’t share
their philosophy or Moxley's desire for him to become a
world champion. He becomes world champion by being the best.
Ospreay said that when he saw Omega with the chair around
his neck, he couldn’t let someone he loved go through what
he went through.
Omega said that after he won to make Ospreay’s dream a
reality for All In, he was beaten down for minutes that felt
like hours, but he didn’t have the energy to fight off the
chair around his neck. So he closed his eyes and accepted
his fate. He heard the energy and cheers and knew it was
Ospreay out to save him. Omega took the chair off himself
and saw what he needed to know about Ospreay. He was holding
his belt with a ripped plastic bag at his feet, and the
reason it took so long for Ospreay to help was that he
thought about doing it first!
Ospreay shook his head and denied it, but Omega continued,
saying Ospreay looked like he expected a thank you, but was
it a thank you for a trap he set himself? Ospreay tried to
deny it, so Omega slapped him. Omega said he thought Ospreay
was his friend.
“I was your friend.”
Omega asked if it was just all about the AEW World
Championship. Was that all their friendship was? As he
continued to berate Ospreay, he slapped him across the face
multiple times and said Ospreay crumbles under pressure,
which is why Omega is champion now.
“I’ll always be better than you!”
Omega slapped Ospreay again, but Ospreay responded with one
of his own and stopped short of hiding a Hidden Blade.
“You know how much I love and respect you, but if you put
your hands on me, I’ll kick the shit out of you, bruv.”
Ospreay said he filled in whenever Omega wasn’t there. He
came here to remind everyone that this is where the best
wrestle. He’s earned his spot to challenge for the
championship. He’s given his neck for it. And standing
before him is the biggest mountain to climb.
“Winners want the ball. The ace wants the ball. I want the
ball.”
Ospreay has an entire country depending on him to bring it
home, but they are all asking him, can he pull the trigger?
“You’re damn right I can pull the trigger.”
Ospreay said he’ll do it his way. He wants the best versus
the best. He’ll pull the trigger when the title is on the
line.
“And when I pull the trigger, you’re gonna see it coming!”
What a way to close Dynamite!
