It’s Tuesday night and you know what that means! Yup, it’s
time to hang out in Robter Stone’s office and/or the NXT
warehouse. There might also be some wrestling matches in
there as well as we build to NXT Heatwave and such in
August.
Tonight, we’ll hear from NXT’s newest big signing, but
first:
-Grayson Waller teleported to the ring and grabbed a mic.
Waller said that he had huge success on the main roster, but
then something changed. Maybe he was too honest, maybe he
didn’t kiss the right asses, but the last two years of his
career have been an embarrassment.
Waller said that he’s in the best shape of his life and is
ready to get where he should be, after defeating some
demons. The demon that’s keeping him awake? The NXT Title.
Waller said that he hasn’t held the title and anounced to
everyone that he’s here to take it. Waller addressed Cruz
Montana and said that no one is going to care about him in
six weeks, so why should he get a title shot? Because he was
the top guy in TNA? That’s like being the best basketball
player at the YMCA.
Waller then called out NXT Champion Tony D’Angelo, saying he
will send him home to his ugly baby. A stagehand asked
Waller to wrap it up. Waller said that if HBK didn’t like
him here, he can “tune up the band” or send out one of his
guys. He then called the whole male NXT roster soft and
complacent. Waller said the only ones ready to be called up
were the women.
He called the “indie” wrestlers on the roster “charisma
vacuums” and said that HBK is probably smiling because
someone is telling the truth. Waller said that he is going
to take the title, the division and he’ll show everyone who
Grayson Waller is. Then his mic was cut off, so he started
talking right to the camera, before the show abruptly went
to commercial.
This was actually really great. I’m sure the thought was “CM
Punk pipe bomb promo by way of Grayson Waller” and it
WORKED. I like this pissed off Waller and he didn’t say one
thing that was untrue. We’ll see how the roster reacts.
-Back from break, Myles Borne and Tavion Heights were not
impressed by Waller’s rant. Neither was Mason Rook who
apparently was in the room too. Rook said he was going to
take it out on Kam Hendrix, but Borne pointed out they had a
match. Heights said he’d make sure Rook didn’t interfere.
Lizzy Rain vs. Izzi Dame w/Nico Vance
I honestly think that this tongue twister of a match is
happening because someone backstage was like “you know what
would be funny? Hearing Booker T try to keep straight which
one is Izzi and which one is Lizzy.” This was the first
match of the night, approximately 20 minutes into the
program.
Rain and Dame tied up off the bell with Rain dodging a chop
and grabbing a headlock. Dame responded with a back elbow
off the ropes. Dame hit a clothesline after bouncing Rain’s
head off the turnbuckles. Dame kept up the pace with a
suplex and a near fall. Rain tried to steal one with a
rollup, but no dice.
Rain hit a spinning heel kick and back elbow off of a
springboard. Dame lured Rain to the outside and pumpkicked
her to the ground. Dame pulled Rain back into the ring,
where Rain tried an inside cradle but could only get a two
count. Rain went to work on the leg of Dame, hitting it with
a chop block.
Dame went for a rear choke, pulling Rain backwards while
Vance watched from ringside. Rain started throwing forearms
and sent Dame to the ropes for some chops. Rain went up top
for a dropkick and started picking up some momentum. She
suplexed Dame and sent her to the corner, but Dame came out
with a chinbreaker.
Rain came back with a super kick, but Dame hit a blue
thunder bomb for the legally required two count. They
exchanged forearms in the middle of the ring until Dame sent
them both tumbling to the outside.
Rain sent Dame into the steps and tossed her back into the
ring. She hit an Air Raid Crash, but Dame kicked out at two.
Dame responded with a crucifix bomb, but couldn’t put Rain
away. Rain came back with a cutter, but Vance caused a
distraction and Dame hit her with a big boot.
Then Shawn Spears appeared with a chair, which allowed Rain
to hit a Thunderstuck and pick up the pin.
Match Result: Lizzy Rain defeated Izzi Dame
Booker T did in fact get confused about the names, by the
way.
-In the lunchroom, Noam Dar and Romeo Moreno welcomed Cruz
Montana to NXT. The Saquon Shugars showed up and Dar and
Moreno apologized for losing to them with Shugars. Shugars
told Cruz he’s a changed man and the whole world will see.
Then Kelani Jordan showed up to tell Cruz that NXT was an
unfair workplace, so he should run. She started ranting
about being ignored and Cruz left.
-Back from break, Vanity Project were complaining in Robert
Stone’s office about having to defend their Tag Titles if
Myles Borne wins tonight, once again, because no one asked
him to do that. Jackson Drake said he wanted a shot at the
NOrth American title and then Keanu Carver showed up and
Vanity Project left. Carver asked for a match against EK
Prosper (I think?). Stone gave it to him and then Stone’s
phone rang and he demanded Grayson Waller come back to the
arena to talk.
-Thea Hail and Jaida Parker conversed in the locker room and
to make a long story short, they will have a tag match
against Nikita Lyons and Karmen Petrovic next week.
NXT North American Championship Match: Myles Borne (c) vs
Kam Hendrix
Last week, Borne and Tavion Heights asked Robert Stone for a
tag team title match. Then, in spite of no one saying he had
to, Borne offered up a shot at his North American title in
exchange for the said tag title match. Hendrix was just
hanging around the lunchroom and over heard that, causing
his health meter to jump to 110%. So, Stone, the laziest GM
in WWE, said he could have the Title shot.
Mike Rome (popped collar and all) did the introductions and
we were off to the races. Things went back and forth during
an extended feeling out process until Hendrix gabbed Borne’s
arm and worked him over into a suplex and armbar. Borne got
out of it while a picture-in-picture window showed Cruz
Montana meeting the NXT roster, forgetting that Mike Santana
knows them all very well.
In the match, Hendrix was on a roll with a power slam that
got him a two count. Borne sent Hendrix to the outside and
dove on him, but when he got back on the apron, Hendrix
tripped him up and bounced his face off the canvas. Borne
came back by sending Hendrix face first into the ring post
and then back into the ring.
Hendrix ate turnbuckle at the hands of Borne until Borne
picked him up and dropped him for a near fall. Hendrix
started a comeback, dropping Borne on the turnbuckles in a
reverse buckle bomb. He hammered Borne around the ring and
then put him on his shoulders for a falling slam.
Hendrix continued beating on Borne, getting nearfalls but
nothing that threatened Borne’s title. Borne started
throwing hands to build a comeback. He hit a back body drop
and hip toss, followed by a power slam. He went for Borne
Again, but Hendrix dodged it. Borne went for a power slam as
an inset video showed Mason Rook watching the match and then
leaving quickly.
Rook masde it to the entrance ramp before Tavion Heights
caught up with him. In the match, Hendrix hit a huge kick,
but only gfot a two count. Borne sunck in a Borne Again off
of that and got the victory.
Match Result: Myles Borne defeated Kam Hendrix
Heights said that Rook was free to assault Hendrix now, so
he did just that as Heights and Borne celebrated inthe ring.
Then Vanity project showed up and beat up Borne and Heights.
They fought back against the damned numbers game and ran off
Vanity Project.
-Backstage Lizzy Rain was interviewed about what was next.
For Rain, what’s next is KFC Popcorn Chicken, the perfect
refill. As for Dame, she’s more interested in the
underground match next week. Tristain Angels showed up and
said that Rain needed a better role model than Shiloh Hill.
-In the locker room, Berto and Angel Garza showed up to
support their Perros Del Mar stablemate Bronco Nima in his
upcomeing tag match. So hey, they did remember.
-Back from break, Robert Stone was on the phone with Grayson
Waller again, and again, told him to get back to the ring.
Zaria came in, but so did Wren Sinclair. Zaria asked about
who her next challenger for the Women’s North American title
would be. Sinclair said, why not me? And Stone said she
could defend her Speed title against Zaria next week and if
she wins, she can have a shot at the North American title.
Why so complicated, Stone? You didn’t do that for Borne.
OTM (Bronco Nima and Lucien Price) vs. Stacks and Uriah
Connors w/BirthRight
Bronco Nima (along with Karmen Petrovic) is part of the
Perros Del Mal in AAA, the hottest storyline in wrestling
right now that you should be watching. Last week while OTM
and BirthRight were standing around in the warehouse, this
match idea came up. You can just do that in NXT, you see.
Nima and Connors started things off with Nima destroying
Connors and bringing in Stacks right away. Stacks got a
couple shots in, but that seemed to just make Nima madder so
he picked him up and dropped him on the turnbuckle. Price
tagged in and went for the cover, but only got two.
Connors tagged back in and chopped Price which he no-sold
and tagged in Nima. They double teamed Connors for a minute
before Connors bailed from the ring. Nima gave chase and
when they got back in the ring, Stacks tried to cut the big
man down with a chop block. It didn’t have much affect and
Price came in.
OTM stacked them up in the corner for some shots and then
Nima tossed Connors out while Price clocked Stacks. They
then threw Stacks over the top rope onto the members of
BirthRight.
Back in the ring, Nima hit a backbreaker on Stacks which
started a four man brawl. Connors got Nima off his feet and
he and Stacks double teamed him in their corner. Stacks put
a sleeper on Nima who stood up out of it. Stacks knocked
Price off the apron while Nima recovered, preventing a tag.
Nima fought off both opponents and managed to get the tag to
Price who cleared the ring. Berto and Angel Garza came to
the ring to even the damn numbers game and Nima went out to
talk to them, just in time for Birthright to nail Price 2-
on-one and steal the victory.
Match Result: Stacks and Uriah Connors defeated OTM
It looks like the story going forward will be wether or not
Nima can split his time between OTM and Perros Del Mal,
which frankly, I’m here for because injecting a little AAA
into NXT can only be a good thing.

Vice.
-Back from break, Jaida Parker, Izzi Dame and Kali Armstrong
complained about not getting opportunities. If they had been
in Robert Stone’s office, maybe they would get them.
Shiloh Hill vs. Tristan Angels
Angels and Hill have been in a blood feud over The Mr NXT
beauty pageant sash for what seems like the last six years,
but is actually only about six weeks. Either way, Hill got a
new tooth from Danhausen last week ad has been talking a lot
about “the fog” lately, so we’ll see if that makes him more
or less likely to win in this Great American Bash rematch.
Angels is… English. That seems to be the extent of his
character.
Hill had Angels on his heels from the start, whipping him
into corners and slamming him when he came out. He hit a
shoulderbreaker for a two count and Angels started a
comeback by running Hill into the turnbuckles while Vic
Joseph and Booker T debated the validity of beauty pageants
and the intricacies of Sheep Farming.
In the match, Angels bailed from the ring and Hill followed.
Angels got the drop on him with a neckbreaker off the apron
and thens ent him back into the ring. Angels hit a suplex
for a two count and then put Hill in a sleeper. Hill backed
him into the corner, but Angels didn’t let go until Hill
back slammed him on the mat.
Angels hit a backstabber on Hill, but missed on the
following corner charge. Hill started to power up and
dropped Angels with a right hand off the ropes. Hill hit a
senton for a two count and then hit a power slam on Angels.
Hill went up top, but Angels shook the ropes to cause him to
fall onto the turnbuckle.
Angels hit a insiguri and then superplexed Hill. Angels
started smacking Hill wich woke him up and Hills ent Angels
to the outside. Hill followed and Angels sent him into the
steel steps. Angels went to drop a knee on him, but Hill
dodged it and Angels hit the steel. Hill then powerbombed
him onto the announce table.
Hill threw Angels back into the ring for a cover, but Angels
kicked out. Hit hit a pop up punch and then a super
neckbreaker from the second rope to put Angels down for
good.
Match Result: Shiloh Hill defeated Tristan Angels

Montana, made his way to the ring to address the crowd.
Montana entered through the crowd and grabbed a mic. Montana
talked about how he’s struggled and fought his whole life.
He’s made mistakes, but has learned that for most of that
time he was fighting himself. He thought this dream (of
being a WWE Superstar) was dead. But he found the strength
to keep fighting.
A near-tears Montana talked about how he had hard times and
was able to rebuild his career in spit eof the haters. He
said that he loves TNA and will always appreciate what they
did for him. But now he’s in NXT (WWE) and it’s the
beginning of the chapter he’s been chasing his entire life.
Montana said he’s not here to fill a spot, he’s here to take
a spot, and that spot is as NXT Champion. He then said that
Grayson Waller’s rant earlier was cute, but he’d take him on
anytime. Then NXT Champion Tony D’Angelo came to the ring.
D’Angelo grabbed a mic and welcomed Montana to NXT. D’Angelo
said that he’s seen lots of “hot free agents” come through
NXT’s doors and Montana is just like them. He won’t be able
to get that spot he wants because it’s taken.
Montana jumped in and said that he could show D’Angelo
exactly how he’s going to take that spot. But before he
could, Grayson Waller jumped Montana from behind. Montana
tried to clothesline Waller, but Waller moved and he caught
D’Angelo instead. All three stared each other down as the
show came to a close.
Another episode that showed promise. Waller’s addition was
great and I’m a big Montana fan, so watching those two and
D’Angelo will be entertaining. A long way to go before NXT
is making the best of its time, but small improvements are
still improvements!
