With less than 24 hours until AEW Redemption, AEW Collision
was back at The Pinnacle in Nashville, Tennessee, on TNT and
HBO Max! With the AEW Trios Titles up for grabs and a pair
of spots open in the 6-Way Ladder Match tomorrow at
Redemption, there was a lot to settle tonight, including a
champions vs. challengers main event.
AEW Women’s World Champion Thekla and TBS Champion Hikaru
Shida beat Willow Nightingale and Maya World when Shida hit
World with her kendo stick and Thekla pinned her for the
win. World will look for retribution at Redemption when she
challenges Shida for the TBS Title while Nightingale
prepares to challenge Thekla for the AEW Women’s World
Title.
The Conglomeration’s Orange Cassidy, Roderick Strong and
Kyle O’Reilly remained undefeated in trios action with a
successful defense of the AEW World Trios Titles against ROH
World Six-Man Champions Dalton Castle and The Outrunners.
However, both teams were attacked by The Demand and The
Lethal Swirl until Ricochet wound up all alone and was given
an El Kabong by the legendary Jeff Jarrett in Nashville!
The final two spots in the 6-Way Ladder Match for a shot at
the AEW International Title were decided in a pair of
qualifiers. First, Nick Wayne beat long-time rival AR Fox.
Later, El Clon overcame the haunting machinations of
“Blackheart” Lio Rush to claim the final spot in tomorrow’s
high-stakes ladder match at Redemption.
Plus, the Young Bucks beat the Death Riders, but wound up
blindsided by … Will Ospreay? And Tommaso Ciampa sent one
final message to The Painmaker.
All that and so much more went down in Nashville the night
before AEW Redemption! Here are your complete results!
“Psycho Killer” Tommaso Ciampa def. The Rascalz' Zachary
Wentz
We began with our opening contest and a man who will be in
action tomorrow night, "Psycho Killer" Tommaso Ciampa.
Ciampa takes on Jericho, the Painmaker, in a No Holds Barred
match tomorrow at Redemption. However, tonight, Ciampa had
to deal with Wentz, who was out for revenge after Ciampa
injured Wentz's Rascalz partner, Xavier, last week on
Collision.
As Wentz got up on the apron during his entrance, Ciampa
blasted him with a knee and followed him to the floor to
slam Wentz's head off the commentary desk. Ciampa paused to
talk trash to Paul Wight after the two had a confrontation
last week on Collision, where Ciampa gave Wight a message to
send to Jericho. Ciampa went to grab a chair, but turned
around into a kick from Wentz on the apron, who followed
with a moonsault from the second turnbuckle and threw Ciampa
in the ring, and the bell finally rang to start the match.
Wentz worked over Ciampa in the corner. Ciampa sent him to
the other side, but Wentz hit him with a pair of boots and a
second rope tornado DDT for a near-fall. Ciampa avoided
Wentz and went to the ramp, but Wentz followed with a
handspring kick. As Ciampa struggled to get back to his
feet, Wentz nailed him with a senton dive from the top rope.
Wentz threw Ciampa back in and tried for a senton, but
landed on Ciampa's knees. Ciampa took advantage by suplexing
Wentz into the turnbuckles.
Ciampa took his shirt off and choked Wentz with it and
followed with a back elbow. He took the time to applaud for
the crowd and pose mockingly. Wentz came back with a
corkscrew rising knee to take Ciampa down and sprang back to
his feet. Wentz tripped Ciampa up and quickly threw him to
the mat with a German suplex. He followed with a running
knee in the corner and a PK before a blockbuster from the
second rope got him a near-fall.
Ciampa tried to use the top rope to get separation from
Wentz by running his throat into it. He hit a big right hand
and tried for the bicycle knee, but Wentz moved and lit
Ciampa up with kicks before stomping him in the back. Wentz
went to the second rope and came back with a springboard,
but Ciampa caught him with a knee on the way down. Ciampa
covered, but Wentz kicked out at two!d
Wentz flipped over Ciampa for a surprise near-fall and then
sent Ciampa to the ramp. He followed with a kick to Ciampa's
head, but Ciampa came back with a boot over the top rope and
used the Willow's Bell DDT onto the ramp. With Wentz on his
knees on the ramp, Ciampa cracked him with a running knee,
and then hit another bicycle knee in the ring to get the
pinfall victory.
Ciampa had the microphone with something to say. Ciampa
said, "Tommaso Ciampa is better than Chris Jericho." Ciampa
then drew his own makeshift version of war paint on his
face. "And the “Psycho Killer is better than the Painmaker.
One more sleep, and your ass is mine. Montreal. Redemption.
It will be violent."
"Speedball" Mike Bailey is Ready to Climb the Ladder in His
Hometown
Bailey was backstage to speak about the massive opportunity
he had in his hometown of Montreal at Redemption. He was one
of the four randomly selected participants to be part of the
Six-Way Ladder Match for an AEW International Title shot at
Redemption. He's been a two-time Trios champion in AEW, but
has never held singles gold. Bailey gets to do it in front
of his hometown, in front of his family, in front of his
friends, and every single person that has supported his AEW
journey and every single person that has supported him since
his debut twenty years ago in Montreal. They'll get to see
him climb the ladder, get the win, and beat either Bandido
or Kyle Fletcher to get revenge on the Don Callis Family and
go on to become the new AEW International Champion!
Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) def. Death Riders'
Daniel Garcia & Wheeler Yuta
The Young Bucks faced Wheeler Yuta and Daniel Garcia ahead
of their Redemption match against the latter’s fellow Death
Riders, Will Ospreay and AEW Continental Champion Jon
Moxley. Moxley joined Yuta and Garcia at ringside for
commentary.
Jackson quickly took Yuta down with a spinning heel kick, so
he tagged out to Garcia. Nick controlled him with a
headlock, and Matt made a blind tag to hit a double-team hip
toss followed by a double back elbow. They worked over Yuta
and Garcia in opposite corners before bringing them both to
the middle with stereo bulldogs. They went to different
corners and mounted the two Death Riders for punches, but
Garcia got help from Yuta after Yuta knocked Nick to the
floor. Garcia took over on Matt in the corner with punches
and feigned his dancing pose, but decided to fake out the
audience. He turned into a superkick from Nick. The Bucks
then hit double superkicks on Yuta coming off the top rope.
Matt grabbed Garcia and powerbombed him into the corner as
Nick hit a rising kick. Matt slingshotted Garcia into a kick
from Nick in the corner and then held Garcia over his knees
so Nick could stomp Garcia from the top rope, before
immediately diving to the outside to take out Yuta.
The Bucks picked up Garcia and called for a BTE Trigger, but
he ducked, and their knees collided. That allowed Yuta to go
to the top rope for a flying elbow to the top of Matt's
head. Nick came around with a roundhouse kick to Yuta, but
Garcia dropped Nick with a running knee. Matt grabbed Garcia
for a Northern Lights suplex and rolled through for a pair,
then grabbed Yuta to finish it off with a double Northern
Lights suplex on both Death Riders.
Matt hammered away on Garcia, but when he went to the ropes,
Yuta grabbed him. Garcia sent the referee's attention to
Nick in the corner so he and Yuta could double-team Matt.
Now the Death Riders were in full control of the matchup.
They continued to keep Matt away from Nick to make a tag.
Garcia tagged Yuta in after knocking Nick off the apron, but
Matt tried to fight off Garcia and Yuta. He got stuck in a
double team with a quick barrage of kicks from Garcia, which
led to Yuta pulling Matt backwards for a bridging German
suplex, but Matt kicked out at two. As Moxley noted on
commentary, the pace had slowed to a crawl, which favored
Garcia and Yuta. They tried to hit the conveyor belt attacks
on Matt in the corner, but he fought out of it. He faked a
superkick on Garcia and hit a DDT instead.
Matt finally made the tag to Nick, who came off the top rope
with a double crossbody to Yuta and Garcia. He was able to
fight them both off by running them into each other and then
hit a double clothesline. Nick hit a quick combo of kicks on
Yuta in the corner and then turned him around to put him on
the second turnbuckle. Nick ran across to the other side at
Garcia, who launched him over the apron, but Nick kicked him
in the back of the head and went to the top rope for a stomp
on Garcia's head, continuing his momentum into a lungblower
on Yuta on the other side. The Bucks went to the top rope on
opposite sides for a senton elbow drop combo, but it only
got a two-count.
The superkick party had begun until Yuta caught Nick's kick
and threw it into Matt. Yuta bounced off the ropes and
fought off a double team from the Bucks, but then Nick
fought off a double team from the Death Riders. Matt helped
Nick hit Yuta with an assisted sunset flip German suplex,
followed by a pair of superkicks on Garcia, and then a BTE
Trigger – which should have won it, but Yuta was there to
break up the pin.
Nick threw Yuta to the floor and kicked him from the apron.
He called for the finish, and Matt lifted Garcia for the
flipping piledriver. But PAC ran out to distract the
referee. On the opposite side, Claudio Castagnoli pulled
Nick off the apron, and back in the ring, Garcia pushed Matt
into the corner and followed with a running clothesline.
Yuta continued the barrage in the corner until Claudio got
in the ring and was handed Matt on a silver platter for a
pop-up uppercut while PAC continued to keep the referee
distracted. Castagnoli only got out of the ring in time for
the referee to turn around, but Matt kicked out at two.
Garcia locked Matt in the Dragon xTamer, but Nick came in to
take out Yuta and then kicked Garcia to break the hold. On
the other side, PAC came in the ring to boot Nick in the
face while Castagnoli now kept the referee distracted. But
they didn't see AEW World Tag Team Champion Christian Cage
run out to pull Castagnoli off the apron and kick him low.
As PAC watched, backing up the ramp, he did not see Adam
Copeland behind him, who ran through PAC with a spear! They
continued to fight to the back as Moxley watched helplessly
from commentary and barked out orders to Garcia and Yuta to
stay on task.
Garcia held Matt for a double team from Yuta, but Nick
pulled Yuta out to the floor. Matt caught Garcia with a
backslide for a two-count and threw him into the ropes,
where Nick came down with a facebuster. He swung back out to
the apron for a moonsault on Yuta to the floor, then jumped
back up to flip over the top rope for a piledriver on
Garcia, and Matt made the pin to get the victory.
The Bucks rolled out of the ring and walked over to Moxley
on commentary, with the two sides exchanging words until
Will Ospreay came out of nowhere to hit a Hidden Blade on
Nick. Moxley grabbed Matt and dropped him with a Paradigm
Shift. The rest of the Death Riders came out to congratulate
Ospreay as the faction stood tall heading into Redemption.
However, Ospreay lingered, perhaps showing some regret about
his actions, until Moxley gathered him to leave with the
rest of the Death Riders.
Kyle Fletcher Brawls with Bandido and Brody King at San
Diego Comic-Con!
During yesterday’s AEW panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Brody
King made a surprise appearance to ask AEW International
Champion “The Protostar” Kyle Fletcher if he was really
ready for “The Most Wanted” Bandido at Redemption. Fletcher
went out to confront King and wound up in a shoving match
until ROH World Champion Bandido appeared and brawled with
Fletcher as Tony Khan and others tried to break up the
melee!
CMLL World Women’s Champion Persephone def. Angelica Risk
For the first time since Survival of the Fittest earlier
this month, Persephone was back in an AEW ring, taking on
Risk. She showed an early alliance with Harley Cameron in
that match, only to turn on her and eliminate Cameron with a
crucifix powerbomb. But later in the match, Kris Statlander
rolled up Persephone to eliminate her, which didn't sit well
with Persephone, who wound up hitting Statlander with a belt
shot that allowed Hikaru Shida to finish off Statlander and
win the TBS Title.
The same attitude from Persephone was on display in this
match, when she mocked Risk for her height and then took her
down before hammering away at her while pulling her hair.
Risk tried to roll up Persephone, but she rolled right
through it and dropkicked Risk into the corner. She choked
Risk on the ropes while berating her until referee Aubrey
Edwards broke it up. Persephone backed up and ran into a
boot from Risk, who tried to follow through with a jackknife
pin, but Persephone rolled over, stood up, and lifted Risk
into a crucifix powerbomb for a dominant, quick victory.
Athena’s MIT are Waiting for the Brawling Birds
Lexy Nair was in the back with ROH Women's World Champion
Athena and her Minions in Training, Billie Starks and
Diamante. Nair asked about Athena's run-in with the Brawling
Birds, Jamie Hayter and Alex Windsor, last week on
Collision.
Athena mockingly called the Brawling Birds so brave when
they “flipped her the bird” last week, but said when MIT is
ready to fight, the Brawling Birds have flown the coop.
Diamante said, as far as the Brawling Birds are concerned,
she's got one bullet for two birds. Starks tried to correct
her and said, I thought the saying was two birds with one
stone. Diamante and Athena were somewhat frustrated, and
Athena told Billie Starks to read the room, saying Starks
was ruining their attempt to make a point.
Athena then addressed the Birds directly and said, “When you
two dumb, dafty ducks are done playing chicken, just know
that MIT will be waiting to whoop that ass.”
The Lethal Twist (Jay Lethal, Blake Christian and Lee
Johnson) def. SkyFlight (Dante Martin, Scorpio Sky and Matt
Sydal)
SkyFlight made their entrance, and Nashville legend "Double
J" Jeff Jarrett joined commentary, as did Ricochet with The
Demand. This was Sydal's first AEW match in over two years,
and he started things with Jay Lethal.
Lethal took Sydal down with a shoulder block and went into a
strut that certainly made Jarrett proud. Sydal took him over
with a hurricanrana and dropkick, so Christian tagged in.
Sydal hit him with an elbow in the corner and tagged in
Scorpio Sky. Christian escaped by flipping out of an
armringer and hitting a kick to Sky, then tagged in Johnson.
Johnson pushed Sky to the ropes where Martin made a blind
tag. He hit Johnson with a jumping knee and then a senton,
but when he went to cover, Lethal and Christian came in to
break it up. All six men wound up in the ring, but Sky
Flight hit triple dropkicks to knock the Lethal Twist out of
the ring, then followed them out on three different sides
with dives at the same time.
The Lethal Twist turned things around when Sky took his eye
off Johnson to go after Christian, but it turned into a big
right hand from Johnson. Christian and Johnson double-teamed
Sky and gained control of the match. Johnson tagged back in
for a clothesline on Sky in the corner. When he launched
Christian into a monkey flip at Sky, Sky clobbered him with
a clothesline, but Christian put Sky in the tree of woe in
the corner with a leg vice so Johnson could knock Sydal off
the apron. Christian came around with a pendulum kick to Sky
in the corner, as Johnson hit a diving dropkick to Sky's
face. Christian went to the top rope over Sky and took Sydal
down with a moonsault to the floor. Lethal and Christian
decided to pose for the crowd after doing the damage.
Johnson stomped Sky in the corner and tagged in Lethal.
Lethal whipped Sky to the ropes and dropped him with an
elbow, then went into a full Jackie Fargo strut before a
running dropkick, earning Lethal a two-count. He tagged
Christian in, who flipped off the Sky Flight corner.
Christian went to work on Sky's back and tagged in Lethal,
but Sky kicked him out of the ring. Christian came back in,
so Sky kicked him out of the ring too. Johnson tried to come
in to take up the cause, but Sky rolled them up for a near-
fall, and then Johnson missed the flying clothesline, which
allowed Sky to tag in Martin.
Martin unloaded on all three members of the Lethal Twist and
took Johnson down with a rebound dropkick. Martin avoided a
charge from Johnson in the corner and came back off the
apron with a kick to his head. He hit a springboard senton
on Johnson for a two-count, but Lethal broke up the pin with
a double axe handle from the top rope. Lethal ate a kick to
the face but walked right into a Spanish Fly from Christian.
Christian missed a kick, and Sky turned him into a Sky High
powerbomb. Christian dumped Sky on his neck with a half-and-
half suplex, but Martin jumped up to spike Johnson with a
DDT.
Martin went to the top rope, and Ricochet came off
commentary to get on the apron, which distracted the referee
long enough for Johnson to crotch Martin on the top rope.
Johnson then put Martin on his shoulders as Christian went
to the top for a stomp into a Death Valley Driver, and
Johnson pinned Martin to get the victory.
After the match, we saw a small preview of Countdown to
Redemption, which was coming up right after Collision!
Redemption 6-Way Ladder Match (Winner Gets a Shot at the AEW
International Championship) Qualifier: Nick Wayne def. AR
Fox
Nick Wayne made his entrance first for this qualifying match
to get into the 6-Way Ladder Match at Redemption, where the
winner will receive a shot at the AEW International
Championship. As Fox made his entrance and posed on the
second rope, Wayne decided to jumpstart the match by
attacking him from behind. There was certainly no love lost
between these two bitter rivals, as it was Fox who took the
ROH World Television Championship from Wayne two months ago
after Wayne's nearly four hundred-day reign with the title.
Wayne stomped away at Fox in the corner but missed the
running elbow, and Fox went to the apron for a kick on
Wayne, followed by a hurricanrana. Fox sent Wayne into the
second rope with a flatliner and pushed him off the ropes to
hit a rolling neckbreaker. The crowd chanted "AR Fox," but
he ran into a pair of boots in the corner from Wayne. Wayne
threw Fox to the apron, but Fox tripped Wayne and rolled
through the ropes into a suplex.
Fox rolled to the floor, so Wayne followed after him. He
sent Fox into the barricade and jawed with the crowd. With
Fox sitting in a chair near the timekeeper's area, Wayne
rolled into the ring to break the count and then mockingly
pumped up the crowd. But when he charged at Fox, Fox was
waiting with a jumping knee. Fox brought Wayne over the
steel steps and walked up them, but Wayne tripped Fox, and
Fox landed hard on the steel steps. Wayne continued to stay
in control, but the two fought on the apron, where Fox
rolled through a suplex attempt and then hit a spinning
brainbuster on the floor. The crowd once again chanted for
Fox, who threw Wayne back in the ring and rolled him into an
innovative sit-out powerbomb for a two count. Fox hit a
running back elbow to Wayne in the corner, but when he tried
to throw him out, Wayne came back with a full nelson snap
suplex. Wayne missed a roundhouse kick, and Fox kicked him
into the corner. Wayne came back with a kick of his own, but
Fox pulled him off the second rope and hit him with a
cutter.
Fox went to the top rope and connected on a senton, but only
got a two-count, and Wayne immediately rolled up Fox for a
near-fall of his own. The two traded kicks, but Fox
connected harder and put Wayne on the top turnbuckle. Fox
climbed up to meet him, but Wayne used a couple of uppercuts
to try to break loose. Wayne grabbed Fox and came off the
top with Super Sliced Bread #2. Wayne hit a huge kick and
put Fox down with the Prodigy Plex for the three-count!

Darby Allin Was Furious With Kevin Knight After Dynamite
We went back to Wednesday night, where cameras caught up
with Darby Allin after his loss to Kevin Knight for the TNT
Title. Allin said he should have taken Knight's head off
when he had the chance, but he said he won a wrestling
match. It's clear Knight wants more, so he should have just
asked. Allin asked Knight if he remembered meeting two
months into Knight's wrestling career. That's when Allin
asked Knight just how far he'd be willing to go, and Allin
said he's going to ask that question one last time. How far
are you willing to go? As Allin said that, he fired his
skateboard into the garage door and quietly left the scene.
AEW World Trios Championship Match: The Conglomeration
(Orange Cassidy, Kyle O'Reilly and Roderick Strong) (c) def.
ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions Dalton Castle & The
Outrunners (Truth Magnum and Turbo Floyd)
This AEW World Trios Championship match saw The
Conglomeration defending against ROH World Six-Man Tag Team
Champions Dalton Castle and the Outrunners, Truth Magnum and
Turbo Floyd. The Outrunners and Castle were out first and
got a massive reaction from the Nashville crowd. This team
has been on a tear in ROH since winning the ROH World Six-
Man titles, but they'll have to face a Conglomeration squad
that is undefeated in Trios action. While these two sides
were facing off tonight, it was the Conglomeration who made
the save for Dalton Castle and the Outrunners after they
beat Shane Taylor Promotions for the ROH World Six-Man
Titles.
Magnum and Cassidy started things off. While Floyd continued
to wear his championship title, standing on the apron,
Cassidy overpowered Floyd a couple of times at the bell, so
Cassidy put his hands in his pockets. Magnum got taken down
by a dropkick from Cassidy, who still had his hands in his
pockets, and then he posed lazily as if he were a member of
the Outrunners. Magnum and Cassidy had a pose-off until
Strong and O'Reilly came into the ring to put Cassidy on
their shoulders, which brought Floyd and Castle in the ring
to put Magnum on his shoulders. Had this just turned into a
big chicken fight? The referee got between all of them, and
all six men were convinced to shake hands. But when the
referee turned around, all six men started brawling with
each other!
Magnum retreated to his corner and tagged in Floyd. They
double-teamed Cassidy with a belly-to-back suplex, and
Castle got in the ring to put one of the ROH Six-Man titles
on Floyd. Magnum nailed Strong and O'Reilly off the apron,
and Floyd came into the ring to send Cassidy into the
corner. He tried to throw Castle into Cassidy, but Cassidy
back-dropped him, then back-dropped Floyd. Magnum mounted
Cassidy for punches in the corner, but then O'Reilly took
over and mounted Magnum for punches in the corner. Floyd
pulled O'Reilly down and mounted him for punches in the
corner. Strong mounted Floyd for punches in the corner.
Castle pulled Strong down and mounted him for punches in the
corner. Then Cassidy pulled Castle down, and the crowd got
fired up for another 10-count, but Cassidy calmed them down
for one big punch, and the crowd loved it!
Cassidy dove through the ropes and nailed Castle, but the
Outrunners knocked Cassidy off the apron. They charged up
for a dive, but calmly walked through the ropes and came off
the apron with double axe handles to Cassidy. Strong came
through the ropes with double boots to Floyd while O'Reilly
came off the apron with a knee to Magnum. O'Reilly and
Strong double-teamed Castle in the corner until Strong held
Castle for a backbreaker over his knee while Cassidy went
from the top rope down to the apron to drop an elbow. The
Outrunners came in to break up the pin. All six men started
battling, but Strong tagged in and picked up Cassidy to use
him as a weapon against all three opponents. He dropped
Cassidy on Castle, then covered Castle for a two-count.
O'Reilly tagged in and lit up Castle with knees, but Castle
got free with an elbow strike. Castle tagged Magnum, but
O'Reilly took him out with a knee to the gut. Floyd came in,
and when O'Reilly tried to knee him in the gut, he hit the
ROH World Six-Man Title and fell to the ground in pain.
Floyd posed, so Strong lit him up with chops in the corner,
but Floyd came out with a double clothesline to Strong and
O'Reilly. Floyd got a boot on Cassidy and went to the second
rope for a double axe handle, but Cassidy merely stepped
away when Floyd came down. Cassidy started to hit his little
kicks to Floyd, but Magnum tried to grab Cassidy from behind
and throw him into the ROH World Six-Man Title on Floyd's
waist. Cassidy pulled up short, so Floyd body-slammed him,
and the Outrunners fired up the crowd, and everyone yelled,
"You son of a bitch!" They dropped the double elbow on
Cassidy, but O'Reilly came in to make the save.
O'Reilly hit a combo on Magnum to send him to the outside,
but Castle came right in and threw O'Reilly to the mat.
Strong came in with a big elbow on Castle, but Floyd tried
to attack him from behind, so he dropped Floyd with a
spinning fireman's carry slam. Castle picked up Strong and
threw him to the mat, which allowed Cassidy to rush out of
the corner with an Orange Punch, but Castle avoided it and
threw Cassidy to the corner. Cassidy put himself onto the
apron and slammed Castle head-first into the turnbuckle.
Cassidy went to the top rope and dove right into the waiting
arms of Castle, who tried to launch him away, but Cassidy
dropped him with a DDT. Cassidy sprang up to his feet, but
Floyd rolled him up for a two-count. Cassidy tried to catch
Floyd with a spinning DDT, but Floyd held onto him and
turned it into a small cradle for another near-fall. He
jumped over Cassidy for a sunset flip, but Cassidy grabbed
the legs and pinned Floyd for the victory. The
Conglomeration remained undefeated as a trios unit and
retained the AEW World Trios Championships!
After the match, all six men seemed to have interest in
shaking hands, but the Lethal Twist and The Demand hit the
ring to attack the Conglomeration, Dalton Castle and the
Outrunners. Jeff Jarrett came off commentary and had seen
enough, but he was immediately blasted off the apron by
Ricochet, who mocked Jarrett with a strut. However, The
Conglomeration, Outrunners, and Castle isolated Ricochet so
that Cassidy could hit an Orange Punch. Jarrett returned to
the ring with a guitar, and Nashville came unglued when he
broke it across the bald head of Ricochet. Strong picked up

"Jungle" Jack Perry and Nick Wayne Talk Before Redemption
Jack Perry was backstage and said his mission was to become
AEW World Champion, but when opportunity falls out of the
sky, you take it. This Sunday, by the luck of the draw, he's
part of the six-way ladder match at Redemption for a shot at
the AEW International Title. Before Perry could say anything
else, he was interrupted by Nick Wayne.
Wayne said he never thought that Jack Perry would be talking
about opportunities falling out of the sky, but that's the
difference between Perry and Wayne. Opportunities have
always fallen out of the sky and landed right on Perry's
lap, but someone like Wayne has had to chase opportunities
since he was nine years old, take them, and run with them.
And clearly, not a single one of his opportunities has
flopped. So this Sunday, not only is Wayne going to climb
the ladder and become the number one contender for the AEW
International Championship, but he's going to hurt Perry in
the process and show Perry what a, quote, young pillar is
supposed to look like.
Perry responded, saying he's actually proud of Nick because
he earned that opportunity. He did that by himself, and he's
going to have to do that a lot more now that he doesn't have
a sugar daddy anymore. So Perry said he'll see Wayne Sunday
at Redemption, mockingly tapped Wayne on the chest a few
times, and said, "Make the most of it”, before leaving.
Redemption 6-Way Ladder Match (Winner Gets a Shot at the AEW
International Championship) Qualifier: Don Callis Family's
El Clon def. ROH World TV Champion "Blackheart" Lio Rush
Clon made his way to the ring for his return to AEW. We
hadn't seen him in three months, but he had a huge
opportunity if he could defeat the haunting "Blackheart" Lio
Rush, the ROH World Television Champion. This was such an
intriguing matchup of two very unique talents.
Rush seemed enchanted by Clon at the jump, which allowed
Clon to hit a quick kick, but Clon avoided Rush and landed
on his feet. Clon chopped Rush, but Rush caught the arm and
bit him. Rush escaped from Clon's grasp and hit a handspring
kick to knock Clon off the apron. He followed out and
slammed Clon's head on the commentary desk a few times
before returning him to the ring, then covered Clon for a
two-count.
Rush was already bleeding from near his right eye! He put
Clon on the top rope, but Clon tripped Rush and then tied
his left hand up with a tag rope. With Rush trapped, Clon
blasted him with a running boot and followed with a second.
Clon posed over Rush as the referee pulled Rush free. Clon
escaped from Rush in the corner, but Rush came back with a
powerbomb to get a two-count. Rush went to the top, and
Nashville cheered him on, but he missed the frog splash as
Clon moved. Clon got out of the corner and came back with a
payday kick and hit a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker on Rush for a
two-count.
Clon tried to grab Rush by his trunks, so Rush dropped down
with a stunner. Rush avoided Clon again, hit a quick
combination, and rolled Clon over so he could hit him with a
spinning kick to the back of the head. That knocked Clon to
the floor, and Rush sensed what he could do. He galloped
around the ring and absolutely crushed Clon with a dive to
the outside. Rush said it was time to go for a ride and came
back in the ring with a rebound stunner, but Clon kicked out
at two.
Clon came back with a unique combo of kicks to take Rush
down to his knees. He then flipped Rush over to knee him in
the face. Clon threw Rush to the ropes, and Rush tried to
hit another rebound stunner, but Clon was ready for it and
caught him. Rush tried to trap Clon, but Clon grabbed onto
the ropes and rolled through for a two-count. Clon rolled
Rush back up for a pin of his own and hooked the ropes to
get the three count.
Clon qualified, but that wasn't enough, as he continued to
put the boots to Rush after the match. He beat on Rush until
"Speedball" Mike Bailey ran out and kicked Clon out of the
ring. Komander ran out and hit a moonsault from the ropes to
the floor on top of Clon. Komander came in to face off with
Bailey, but the two decided to leave it for tomorrow night,
when they are both part of the ladder match at Redemption!
“The Jet” Kevin Knight is Ready for AEW World Champion Kenny
Omega
We took a look at the events that brought us to Omega
agreeing to defend his AEW World Championship against TNT
Champion, “The Jet” Kevin Knight. Knight got the upper hand
on Omega to end Dynamite when he blasted Omega with the TNT
Title and left him bleeding. After Dynamite, Omega said he
wouldn’t bet on Knight taking the AEW World Title on Sunday!
The History of Bang Bang Gang and The Dogs Before Their
Double Chain Match
With a backdrop of their long history against each other,
highlighted by the former friendship of Jay White and David
Finlay, we got the final words from Bang Bang Gang and The
Dogs before they meet in a Double Chain Match at Redemption!
AEW Women's World Champion "The Toxic Spider" Thekla of
Triangle of Madness & TBS Champion Hikaru Shida def. Willow
Nightingale & Maya World
It was time for our main event, as the challengers for the
Women's Championships were out first. Willow Nightingale,
the number one contender for Thekla's AEW Women's World
Championship, and Maya World, who will take on Hikaru Shida
for the TBS Title tomorrow night, made their entrance. It
should be noted that World still had Shida's kendo stick
after she took it away from her at the end of Collision last
week. Shida angrily came to the ring trying to get at World
for taking her kendo stick, but the referee got between
them.
Shida and World started this one off, and Shida immediately
hammered away at World and put her down with a suplex for a
one count. World rolled to the floor, and Shida took a shot
at Willow. Willow went out to check on World, so Thekla
nailed Willow from behind and mounted World on the floor for
strikes. Shida took Willow to the timekeeper's area and
slammed her off the barricade. Thekla threw World off the
ring post and then slammed her head into the apron multiple
times. Shida and Thekla hit stereo suplexes to Willow and
World on the floor. Shida threw World back in and mounted
her in one corner while Shida mounted Willow in the other
corner for punches. But World and Willow both broke free and
started delivering clotheslines of their own in the corner
before bringing Thekla and Shida together in the middle of
the ring for a meeting of the minds.
Willow clotheslined Shida and Thekla, taking them both down.
World picked up Shida with a front slam and hit a second-
rope moonsault for a two-count. Shida raked World's eyes and
pushed her into the corner so Thekla could tag back in and
mount World in the corner, kneeling on her shoulder. World
threw some weak shots to try to get back in the match, but
Thekla immediately dropped her with one forearm. Thekla
mounted World in the corner again to choke her with her legs
and then threw her into her own corner so she could tag back
in. Shida hit a nasty suplex on World into the bottom
turnbuckle and pulled her up in a crossface choke until
World threw a back elbow to escape.
Thekla trapped World in a version of the Rings of Saturn and
then tagged Shida back in. Thekla knocked Willow off the
apron, but when she and Shida went for a double suplex on
World, she punched her way free and then hit Shida, which
allowed her to tag in Willow. Willow dropped Shida with
three straight clotheslines and knocked Thekla off the
apron. Willow hit a running strike to Shida in the corner
and followed with a clothesline, then spinebustered Shida in
the middle of the ring, but Thekla came in to break up the
pin.
Willow put Shida on her shoulders, but she escaped and hit a
big forearm to Willow's face and then cradled her for a two-
count. Willow blocked a couple of Shida's Falcon Arrow
attempts, so Thekla held Willow in the ropes so Shida could
hit a running knee to the face. Shida put Willow down with a
Falcon Arrow and covered her, but now it was World who came
in to make the save. World and Shida got into a strike
battle in the middle of the ring where World took advantage
and hit a double stomp on Shida. Thekla blasted World to
knock her down, but then Willow knocked Thekla down with a
clothesline. Shida came back with a running knee on Willow,
and all four women were down.
World climbed back to her corner, and Thekla did the same.
Shida tagged Thekla as Willow tagged World. World tried to
suplex Thekla, but she escaped and hit a spin kick to the
gut. World pushed Thekla away to the outside, but didn't see
Shida hit her from behind. Willow came in and threw Shida to
the floor. Nightingale went to the apron and tried for a
cannonball but missed both Shida and Thekla. However, World
didn't miss with a dive that took out both Thekla and Shida
on the floor!
World threw Thekla back in, but when World tried to follow,
Shida grabbed her ankle. In the ring, Thekla had a belt, but
the referee took it away. World hit a kick to Thekla from
the apron and went to the top rope, but with the referee
still looking away, Shida blasted World in the back with her
kendo stick. That knocked World to the mat, so Thekla went
into her spider crawl and speared World to get the pinfall
victory in our main event! Shida and Thekla celebrated in
the ring as the champions took momentum into Redemption
tomorrow night in Montreal.
